Product Description

The ASI174MM is a versatile and highly sensitive monochrome astronomy camera for imaging the Moon, Sun (with safe solar filter) and deep-sky objects through a telescope. The camera incorporates an advanced 11.3mm x 7.1mm CMOS sensor with 2.35 megapixels and 5.86-micron pixels for good signal-to-noise ratio. The USB3.0 port offers a fast capture rate of 164 frames-per-second at the full resolution of 1936x1216, and much faster rates at lower resolutions. NOTE: This camera is best used with a refractor or reflector telescope mounted on a solid equatorial mount that can accurately track the motion of the sky. It is not intended for taking images through the eyepiece of a telescope. This camera produces monochrome images, but it can be used to produce color images with an astronomical LRGB color filter set (not included) and standard image processing techniques. You may require additional accessories such as an autoguider, focal reducer, or barlow lens to get the best results. All software and drivers for this camera are available from the manufacturer’s website.

Any enthusiast of day or night telescope viewing will eventually realize even the expensive name-brand digital cameras and adapters are no match for a digital unit designed and specifically made for Astro-photography.

Be prepared to have a good laptop or PC and YouTube instruction time to make your quality package is complete.

The price is can’t be beat considering what name-brand cameras cost.
