Purchase options and add-ons

  • This genuine Ladbrooke "Mini 4" soil blocker is the most popular and versatile of the Ladbrooke soil blockers. The hand-held soil block maker makes four 2" soil blocks, each with a seed dimple pre-formed in the top. It is part of the unique Ladbrooke Micro 20/Mini 4/Maxi "nesting" system for starting seeds and transplanting starts. The Mini 4 comes with a set of four 3/8" seed pins, which must be inserted.
  • Soil blockers are fun and easy to use, and offer an excellent growing medium. Potting soil is compressed wet into the soil block mold and then discharged into a tray with the ejection handle. Very simple to use and handle. Soil blockers make a "pot-less" pot, and can be used for all seeds, and are great to use for cuttings as well. With soil blocks, roots are air-pruned and transplant shock, stunting, slow-growth is greatly reduced.
  • Soil blocking offers an eco-friendly system that eliminates the need for using plastic seed starting trays, and buying, storing and sanitizing plastic pots
  • Made by Ladbrooke, makers of the highest quality products! Made in England, Ladbrooke soil blocking tools are made from zinc coated steel that will last for years.
  • These are utilitarian, hand-made gardening tools. Cosmetic blemishes and water bathing marks made during manufacturing are natural, and in no way alter the functionality of the tool.

Landscaping Game Changer
This season I have started my seeds using a soil blocker using a starter mix of: 3 part worm castings, 2 part perlite, 2 part coconut coir and 1 part garden soil. It has made all the difference in my seedling health and propagation rates. Be sure to use starter trays with a mesh tray for the blocks inside a regular tray for watering. You’ll never go back to conventional seed starting again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product - this is a must have !!!!
Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2023
LIke the title says a must have all you need is some wet soil and you have planting cubes, this a great way to stop using the cardboard trays. Never again, I have had mine for the last month and it works great and using the last of my cardboard trays forever!!

Pros: Great cubes for planting

How I would update this product: would have put in a spring loaded handle with a soft grip, my 8 yr old daughter help out making cubes and she had a bit more difficulty with releasing, I would also add a cube press, so you can pack the dirt in to tighter cubes without having to put so much weight on the handle. Just some design feedback from a customer.
