@catreadthat Hump Day Romance Recs: Latinx History Month Edition In honor of the kick off of Latinx History Month, I wanted to shout out one of my fav romance novels of the last year or so -- You Had Me At Hola. I've already reviewed this on here before (swipe for the original VERY cute pic of Bubs with the book) but this book is so good it deserves another feature. It's also convenient that the second book in this world -- A Lot Like Adios -- just came out yesterday and I'm 100 pages in and I'm INTO IT! You Had Me At Hola is such a wonderful homage to the telenovela. It flips back and forth between a traditional novel and scenes from the telenovela that the characters in the book are working on. I know some people didn't like the telenovela scenes but it REALLY worked for me. Also this book is HOT. Jasmine and Ashton are wonderful characters and their chemistry literally just leaps off the page. And not only is this book steamy af but it emphasizes the importance of consent throughout the whole book -- from the way the actors interact during steamier scenes in their telenovela to their real moments of intimacy. Consent is sexy y’all!! Bottom line, I love this book, I love alexisdaria and be on the look out for my review of A Lot Like Adios soon! What books are you picking up for Latinx History Month?

@booksemmareads #qotd Do your reading habits change with the seasons? Summer calls for more light hearted romances for me! ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️/5 coffee spills Not me raising this book to the sun gods like it's a precious offering... This was such a great summer read and I'm so glad I included it in the 5 books I brought on vacation with me. I loved the characters (and the 🔥🔥🔥). A perfect romance to read on the beach with a cool adult beverage in hand. - - - #bookstagram #bookish #books #reader #read #reading #booksta #cr #tbr #bookworm #booksofinstagram #booklover #cozyvibes #vintage #teacher #2021readingchallenge #booknerd #bookrec #repsearch #bookcommunity #libros #bibliophile #booknerd #booksofinstagram #literature #bookfriends #bookaholic #mybookfeatures

About this item

Description

"Soapy, smart and so sexy... with vibrant characters and electric chemistry comparable to the telenovelas that inspired it, you'll be thrilled You Had Me At Hola doesn't come with commercials!"--Sarah MacLean, New York Times bestselling author

RITA(R) Award Winning author Alexis Daria brings readers an unforgettable, hilarious rom-com set in the drama-filled world of telenovelas--perfect for fans of Jane the Virgin and The Kiss Quotient.

Leading Ladies do not end up on tabloid covers.

After a messy public breakup, soap opera darling Jasmine Lin Rodriguez finds her face splashed across the tabloids. When she returns to her hometown of New York City to film the starring role in a bilingual romantic comedy for the number one streaming service in the country, Jasmine figures her new "Leading Lady Plan" should be easy enough to follow--until a casting shake-up pairs her with telenovela hunk Ashton Suárez.

Leading Ladies don't need a man to be happy.

After his last telenovela character was killed off, Ashton is worried his career is dead as well. Joining this new cast as a last-minute addition will give him the chance to show off his acting chops to American audiences and ping the radar of Hollywood casting agents. To make it work, he'll need to generate smoking-hot on-screen chemistry with Jasmine. Easier said than done, especially when a disastrous first impression smothers the embers of whatever sexual heat they might have had.

Leading Ladies do not rebound with their new costars.

With their careers on the line, Jasmine and Ashton agree to rehearse in private. But rehearsal leads to kissing, and kissing leads to a behind-the-scenes romance worthy of a soap opera. While their on-screen performance improves, the media spotlight on Jasmine soon threatens to destroy her new image and expose Ashton's most closely guarded secret.
