Unbelievable Guitar! The quality shows through.

I started playing guitar earlier this year and wanted to add my first electric. I researched a number of guitars that were under $500 and found this Yamaha Pacifica PAC012 received some of the best. Nobody had anything negative to say about it. I received mine from Sweetwater and I'm totally happy. I thought my Epiphone acoustics were good, but the fret ends on this guitar are super smooth. No sharpness at all. Good low string action and the neck feels so smooth. It's not just a good guitar for beginners, it's a good guitar period!

Nice sounding guitar

This is a nice-sounding and nice-looking guitar. Well finished. I chose this entry-level guitar because Yahama has good quality control and their instruments sound nice. That said I did have a couple of problems with this guitar out of the box. Fret buzz was unacceptable. That is easily fixed by adjusting string height but I wonder about a novice being able to fix it so it was playable? Yes, the owner's manual shows how to do that but it is not as easy as the Yamaha manual suggests. The 2nd problem was sharp fret ends. That is a problem that can't be fixed with an adjustment wrench. I am 82 years old and have been playing guitar for over 65 years. I know how to dress fret ends on a guitar but that said, If I was the parent of a teenager buying this as their first guitar I would have sent it back to Sweetwater for exchange. One cannot expect wonderfully finished fret ends on a two-hundred-dollar guitar but one can expect to receive a guitar that does not cause pain when it is played. Especially for a player that is just starting out. The guitar is beautiful to look at. The finishing of the guitar, construction-wise, is first-rate. Still and all I am a little disappointed with Yamaha. I have owned expensive new and new entry-level Yahama guitars over the years and I have never had one with sharp fret edges like this one had right out of the box.

Sweet Guitar!

I got this as my first electric guitar about a year ago. When I ordered it, I was expecting a decent beginner guitar considering the low price, but it has completely exceeded my expectations. Don't let the low price discourage you from buying this guitar as it is built extremely well and is capable of a wide variety of tones!

Just amazing!

I have a slew of guitars including a Gibson SG, 2013 model. It came with 57' classics and I love them. I also have a heap of Harley Benton's. They're all great guitars, although I've upgraded the PU's on all of them and had to level/polish the frets. My PAC012 was ready to play, out of the box! I've been a humbucker guy for 45 years but now this is my #1 player! It has the HB sound if you want it and the ST sound is perfect. I would put it up against ANY Strat, ANY day, if you know how to play. I wish I had a collection of these!
