I started off the jump to the 5th generation boards with an i9-13900k and an ASUS z790E for two weeks. Swapped to an i9-14900KF and the board and cpu started failing on me. Went through a lot more hell.Gave up and returned everything and switched to AM5 with a 7800x3D cpu and a ASROCK B650 Steel Legend WiFi board. The installation was fast and swiftless after updating the bios through flash back. Everything works out the box. The temps are fantastic. Low power usage even, unlike the i9’s consuming 250-300 watts on certain games with stock settings. Everything feels smooth. And best of all, I wasn’t sold a fake CPU like Best Buy store number 555 did to me with an i9-14900K brand new in the box. My condolences to those who have been sold a tampered product from when I read the one star reviews here. I know your pain.

Decided to move from an i5-13600K over to a 7800X3D since I mostly use my PC for gaming and not productivity work. This CPU is a beast for performance and runs rather cool for what you get out of it, and its power efficient as well! Highly recommend this CPU if all you care about is gaming performance and it fits within your budget! If you need something a little more affordable, you can't go wrong with the 5800X3D.

Nothing much to say that hasn't been said before but this chip is easy to cool, easy to run, and performs better than basically everything on the market. The only drawback is that it is bested by the 7700x in productivity which is cheaper, but it's still no slouch and the gaming performance is worth it unless you need those extra boost speeds.

Bought this CPU for my setup when it first came out and have not looked back ever since.. I'm very happy that I went with the 7800X3D instead of one of the hungry Intel chips.. 7800X3D stays extremely efficient during all workloads.. average of around 70watts during gaming and 100 to 120 watts peak workload (CPU only).
This is literally right now the perfect gaming CPU. If you're not some crazy extreme overclocker..

I'm a PC engineer and have built many custom computers using this processor including 4090 based computers and never seen any bottlenecks or problems. The only thing to keep in mind with this platform is that first boot can take quite a bit of time so you really do have to give this platform a minute to boot no matter what.. kind of reminds me of a server and how it starts up lol 😂

Also make sure to get the latest BIOS for your motherboard... that can fix many issues we've had computers come in for repairs for on the AM5 platform.. this also definitely holds true for AM4 😉

For best performance get DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 RAM. Multiple benchmark show that's the sweet spot.. Anything faster or slower is shown to negatively affect performance for the 7800X3D.
Also 2 sticks of ram is better than 4 for the 7800X3D since it only has one CPU die or CCD

Yes Intel May hold the performance crown for most things but that comes at a cost of very high electrical use.... the 14900K is a joke requiring on average 200w gaming.. and if you do any workload get ready for up to 600 watts load.. and this is just for the CPU... this does not include the rest of your system...

In the end if you want to build a high-end system with a total system power draw on average 600 to 1200 watts peak then go for an Intel base system... but if you want to stay more reasonable without much sacrifice averaging around 300 to 800 watts peak then stick with the AMD 7800X3D.

Last thing is that the AM5 platform also has many years of upgrades ahead of it as we've seen with the AM4 platform being supported for a long time... This will provide you many upgrade paths in the future.

I paired the 7800X3D with a RTX 4070 TI Super and I can safely say that the processor is doing its job exceptionally well. I'm able to fly over mega cities in Microsoft Flight Simulator maintaining over 60 fps with Ultra settings in 1440p (without Frame Generation) . Originally, I had been using the Ryzen 7600x with the same GPU, but the results were not as good with the FPS dropping into the 50s over large cities. The processor usually hovers in the 60-70 degree Celsius range with my THERMALRIGHT PA 120 SE cooler while gaming, so no worries there. Installation of the CPU was easy and problem free with my B650 Aorus Elite Ax Ice motherboard with the latest firmware. If you want a great gaming CPU and this is in your budget, don't hesitate to get this (especially if you play Microsoft Flight Simulator).

I upgraded from an intel i5-8600K after 5 years. I was wary of hearing how unstable and finicky AMD could be, but I was pleasantly surprised. Installation and BIOS configuration was a BREEZE. Posted easily on Windows 11. It supports EXPO on my RAM on 1st try without issues. Note that you will need to upgrade to DDR5.

Also note that this CPU does not come with a box cooler. I thought I needed a bigger cooler but the SilverStone 240 AIO I had on hand is doing a fantastic job so far on push-pull front intake. 38Cs-low 40sC at low load and max 65-70C during gaming using the integrated graphics. It can't do much but was enough for testing. I will update my review when the GPU comes in and if I need better cooling after all.

I got it on sales for Black Friday. Great value, especially compared to intel prices. I only plan to use it for gaming so I can't comment on productivity.

Delivery from Amazon was rapid and the box arrived in perfect condition. I have it installed on an MSI MPG B650 Edge WiFi motherboard.

Simply put this is the best cpu for gaming. The uplift in performance is enormous. This works well with a 4080 and above. Would not buy this unless u have a 7900xt or above maximum. Runs hot but nothing a aftermarket cooler can’t solve.

On commence à le connaître et je ne vous apprendrais rien en vous disant qu'il est super.
CPU très rapide qui nécessite toutefois quelques réglages dans le BIOS pour dompter les chevaux.
En effet il a tendance à chauffer très fort, il est conçu pour cela, rien d'alarmant, mais on peut baisser la température et aussi la consommation en baissant le voltage de la bête.
Il restera très stable et chauffera moins, et votre système de refroidissement vous remerciera et vos oreille aussi.
A mon sens pour un joueur, c'est la CPU idéale. Ne pas oublier de l'associer avec de la RAM DDR5 de qualité 6000CL30 au minimum pour ne pas dégrader ses performances.
