The shaft is black manganese phosphate, a high quality shaft coating which adds longevity to the bar and provides unbeatable corrosion and abrasion protection while also giving the bar shaft a slightly tacky feel. When the coating and medium depth fine knurling are combined, this bar allows for a superior, firm grip, minus the sharp, cheese grater knurling. All it takes to protect your investment is wiping down your bar regularly with a light coat of a 3-in-1 oil. The chrome sleeves of the XM-3817-BLK Olympic bar rotate freely on brass bushings and are secured to the bar.
