I primarily play in handheld mode only, so this was the perfect joycon for me.
Easily 5 out of 5
I primarily play in handheld mode only, so this was the perfect joycon for me.
Easily 5 out of 5
First of all, this joy con is HANDHELD ONLY. Please don't blame the seller when you didn't take the time to read. Second, I saw a few reviews criticizing the design, specifically the position of the analog stick and the d-pad. This is meant to mimic Nintendo's joy cons, it is their design model and not Hori's you should be aiming at.
I bought this to replace my drifting left joy con.
In terms of materials, I will say that you do get what you pay for, but I didn't mind what I got here. The shell is a lighter, see-through plastic, but it's not slippery. There's no battery in this, so it's very light, but I didn't notice when I was playing. I did feel the lack of HD rumble at first, but I got quickly accustomed to it (it tends to rumble enough throughout the whole console anyway).
The capture and minus buttons are rubber instead of the standard hard plastic. I like the capture button better this way, I used to accidentally bump it far too often on the regular joy con. The minus button was already hard to press for me due to my small hands, this is no different, but having it be softer made it a lot easier to find and easier on the thumb when pressed compared to the hard plastic.
The release button is raised rather high, and I'm not sure what the reason for this could have been. I wasn't bothered by it, but this might be inconvenient if you have a case without any wiggle room.
Lastly, while I know this must drain more battery because it has to in order to function, I didn't really notice any extra drain. However, I expect very little of the Switch's battery life already and rarely play outside of the house, so I'm the least likely to be bothered by this.
Does it drift? I play a good handful of intensive games 10+ hours a week, and it's held out longer than my original, more expensive joy con, so do with that information what you will.
Overall, if you play mostly handheld/only play in TV mode with a pro controller, this is a great replacement, especially if you're trying to avoid the dreaded drift and don't want to spend $40 for the official replacement.
Two things: the release button on the back is raised, which can impact any cases you want to put on your device, and the soft minus-button is very thin and tends to bend rather than push in unless you push perfectly straight towards the joy-con.
Other than that, no complaints!

Perfetto per sostituire un controller con problemi di Drift.
Sarebbe bello se l'azienda producesse anche il destro!
The inclusion of a PRO D-pad on the left Joy-Con is a remarkable decision by Nintendo, one that has substantially enhanced my gameplay experience. The precision and responsiveness of the D-pad are unparalleled, making it perfect for platformers, puzzle, action, and fighting games. I’ve found that executing precise movements and combos in my favorite titles is now a breeze, thanks to the ergonomic design of the D-pad. Nintendo’s attention to detail is evident, as the D-pad’s responsiveness has exceeded my expectations, elevating my gaming performance to new heights.
The retro transparent chassis of the Joy-Con left controller is not only visually appealing but also nostalgic for fans of classic gaming systems. This unique touch adds a charming flair to my Nintendo Switch, reminding me of the iconic consoles of the past. The transparency allows a peek into the inner workings of the controller, evoking a sense of wonder and appreciation for Nintendo’s engineering prowess. Coupled with the special edition Zelda artwork, this Joy-Con stands out as a visually striking and collectible piece that complements my love for the Legend of Zelda franchise.
What sets this Joy-Con left controller apart is its specialization for handheld mode gaming. The absence of vibration, motion sensors, NFC, and IR sensor may raise some concerns for those accustomed to the full range of features in standard Joy-Cons. However, for D-pad intensive titles, this controller is a dream come true. Its focus on providing precise control for platformers and fighting games is evident, and the streamlined design ensures a comfortable grip during extended gaming sessions.
It is important to note that this controller does not include a battery, and its usage is limited to handheld mode, connected directly to the Nintendo Switch console. While some may consider this a drawback, I see it as a trade-off for the D-pad’s specialized functionality. As a handheld gaming enthusiast, I find this controller to be the perfect companion for on-the-go gaming, allowing me to fully immerse myself in my favorite titles with unrivaled precision.
However, it is worth mentioning that the calibration process for the left joystick can be slightly finicky. Upon initial use, I encountered some unresponsiveness with the left stick. Following the instructions provided, I turned the left stick two or three times in large circles to calibrate it, and this resolved the issue. While the calibration process may seem cumbersome at first, it is a minor inconvenience compared to the overall exceptional performance of this Joy-Con left controller.
In conclusion, the Official Nintendo Licensed D-pad Joy-Con Left Zelda Version has proven to be a 5-star addition to my gaming collection. With its professional D-pad, retro transparent chassis, and Zelda-themed artwork, this Joy-Con offers a visually appealing and functional experience for handheld mode gaming. Its specialization for D-pad intensive titles like platformers and fighting games has elevated my gaming performance, allowing me to execute precise movements effortlessly. While it lacks certain features found in standard Joy-Cons, its focused design for handheld mode makes it a must-have for any Nintendo Switch gamer seeking enhanced control and precision. If you’re a fan of D-pad intensive games and enjoy gaming on the go, this Joy-Con left controller is undoubtedly a worthwhile investment that will enhance your Nintendo Switch experience significantly.
Il est identique à l’original en terme de fonctionnement, avec un super design en supplément.
Je recommande.
