Publisher's summary

Appearances can be deceiving.

Amber Blackwood, Edgehill’s secret resident witch, recently found her parents’ grimoires and the powerful time spells within. The malevolent Penhallow clan has been ruthlessly seeking the grimoires so they can travel back in time to undo their clan’s cursed magic. Because the Penhallows will stop at nothing, Amber must find an impregnable hiding place for the grimoires, though she has no clue where to start looking. When her cousin Edgar suggests the game of Magic Cache, a magic-infused version of geocaching played by witches all over the world, Amber agrees to learn how to play. After all, a weird plan is better than no plan.

When the magical search leads her to the neighboring town of Marbleglen - “the safest town in Oregon” - Amber assumes her only problem will be dealing with its snooty residents. Instead, she gets caught up in a murder investigation where one man is dead and a second one framed for the crime. To complicate matters, the framed man’s condescending daughter, Bianca, wants Amber’s help - and Bianca just happens to chair Marbleglen’s Floral Frenzy Flower Festival Committee, the rival to Edgehill’s own Here and Meow Festival Committee. The two women are thrown into an uneasy alliance.

Joined by her new frenemy, her growing inner circle, and Edgehill’s Chief Brown, Amber works to unravel the mystery to ensure the right culprit ends up behind bars and Marbleglen’s safety is restored. But Amber knows that even if Marbleglen’s mystery is resolved, a bigger danger lurks in the shadows. If the Penhallows claim the grimoires of Amber’s late parents, they’ll use the books’ time-reversal spells to try to stop the curse from ever having poisoned their clan - and, in the process, possibly rewriting history.

Another Enchanting Mystery

This installment managed to work a pretty intriguing mystery into the story despite the slow start. Like the last book, tgis one manages to maintain a sense of elevated stakes in the form of an individual's fate being at risk. I think the threat of peril to likeable characters that aren't tied to thw lead by blood ties actually makes the reader feel more invested in this story. Great read, and decent suspense at various points!

SO GOOD

I LOVE THIS SERIES, AND THIS BOOK DID NOT DISAPPOINT. JUST IN CASE YOU, LIKE I, NEED A LITTLE REFRESHER ON WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST 3 BOOKS, MELISSA PROVIDES A CONCISE BUT INFORMATIVE SYNOPSIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK. AMBER, KIM, WILLOW, AUNT G, JACK, THE SHERIFF, AND MORE ARE ALL BACK FOR ANOTHER GRAND ADVENTURE OR TWO, MAYBE 3. ENJOY!

Looking forward to next one!

The more I listened to this series, the more I liked it! can't wait for the next installment. Those pesky Penhallows, ugh! I want to see more of Jack as well. These are great cozy mysteries that surprised me with their humor (Kim makes me laugh with her over-the-topness). Glad I found these.

AWESOME

Pawsitively Swindled is an entertaining and complex cozy mystery with a well written plot and engaging characters. I started listening to it in the morning and didn't stop until I finished it. There are 2 storylines intertwined and Erin Jackson does a good job developing both. The characters are well developed and there are lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next book.

Great Story, distracting wrong details

I enjoy the town and characters immensely. The story was really good too. Only problem is extremely wrong details about the legal system like when bail was set, all of the characters repeatedly called it "sentencing," even cops. That's really bad but it's excusable because the other writing is so good.
