Works fine and as expected. It said new, looked new, and works fine but the package was clearly opened. Could see the original seal on the outside was broken and wrapper in side was ripped when it was opened. Wished I looked closer at the pick but the modem wrapper was ripped from one corner to the other. If I wasn't having my cable Internet hooked up a couple days later I would have sent it back when I seen the white paper on the seal sticker.

I've had the Comcast leased cable modem combo router for about 2 years and always have had problems with dropped connections and poor wifi performance despite living in a small studio apartment. My initial plan was to just get connected and then buy a cable modem with wifi but never got around to it until I started having more and more problems with the leased equipment.

I got this the other day thinking I'd have to call Comcast and provide the MAC address and serial number and go through some type of process. But I plugged it in, went to the Comcast activation site (there was a URL provided in the box) and after the fourth attempt it connected and it showed up on my account. Not only is my wired connection noticeably snappier but the wifi is performs as it should. And it's about a 4th the size of the leased equipment.

I've only had it for a day so time will tell but I can already tell when I disconnect it that it picks up the connection quicker and my wifi devices connect faster. Also the backend modem and router software that you log in to configure settings is snappy as well. With the leased equipment sometimes I'd have to log in several times as it would break in the middle of changing setting.

I love when things work as they should.

My only complaint is that the lights on this baby are bright, I have blackout shades on the windows at night and this thing lights up the corner of my apartment like a Christmas tree. I put a book in front of it till I can find some tape to put over the lights that doesn't leave gummy residue behind.

This is a great product for a small apartment. Also, you are not going to want to be running a lot of different devices at once. My TV in my family room ran fantastic off of this router, but the further away I got (off in the bedrooms), the weaker the signal got. Also, the more devices I added the more problems I had. Upgraded to the ARRIS SURFboard SBG6900AC DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem.Wi-Fi AC1900 Router, and I can use multiple devices at the same time without a problem. I still think this is a quality device, just make sure you know what you are getting.

Easy setup and good range in a 2 story townhouse. Have to reset anywhere from once a week to a couple times a day. Apparently there are complex reasons behind this, but it's still more reliable than other routers I've had. Cheaper than renting from Comcast and great having the modem and router in one small package.

Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones. Modem may be great as most review state however, Comcast is either EVIL or this modem is not compatible with My Comcast.
Had to reboot several times a day. After rebooting it kept asking for the same long password, which ironically enough i have now memorized, sigh!
often when signal was present the connection was poor even though i was standing 2 feet from modem. it did not work outside the house or in many areas i never had issues with the "rented" Comcast modem. I returned 2 weeks after purchase.
If you want t o purchase it anyway, be smart and hold on to the rental a bit longer just in case you have to return it. I wish I had done so.

I have Xfinity Internet and Cable and this modem works perfectly with their service. I never had to call for setup, installation was a breeze, and the best part of owning one of these modems as opposed to leasing Xfinity's modem for $10/month never to own is (besides of course how much money you save in the long run) after Hurricane Irma passed through Jacksonville's Beaches area, only people within my condo complex that had their own surfboard modem (many of us have this particular model/brand) had no issues with their connectivity and Xfinity services, while everyone else that has Xfinity's modems had no internet for days after power was restored. Not sure why, maybe because I unplugged all of my equipment just in case, but still, I never lost my cable or internet connection or had any issues when I reconnected all of the equipment after power was restored. My best friend also uses a Arris modem with her Xfinity services and lives in the same condo complex and did not have one issue restoring her connections when power was back. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this modem. It's also completely compatible with xfinity's MyAccount app and can be restarted and controlled by the app just as if it were an Xfinity leased modem.
