1 can and 2 ARs barely!
5 Stars
1 can and 2 ARs barely!
Do the prep work! I tend to worry a bit, so I was nervous about the prep work, I did everything twice and also used acetone as was recommended by a person who does it for a living. I was also concerned about the possibility of complete coverage of two ARs.I put three coats as described, on the first upper and lower allowing about 3-4 minutes between coats. (I was doing this in direct sunlight and 80* so they were drying pretty quickly). I removed the hand guards and masked off the parts of the barrel and gas tube and gas block that were not going to be seen,,then replaced the hand guards and painted the uppers with it on them.Doing both ARs was cutting it close, I had about a half of the can left after the first, so I decided to try it and barely got the second covered, although the first one probably got a little extra. Also painted the dust covers, safety lever, and mag release lever. So far I am very pleased, will be even more so if the durabilty is as claimed.I would definately recommend duracoat aerosol for now and will update this in a month or so.

This is the second time that I have used the DuraCoat matte black. Obviously it was so good the first time so I came back to buy more to finish the rest of my weapons. Extremely durable if you don't mind using a little elbow grease this is a extremely cost efficient way to make your firearms impervious to rust, scratches, or any other normal wear and tear from usage. If you're like me I don't like to hand my weapons off to anyone to have anything done to them. This is a neat way to put a professional finish on a firearm at home. Go on YouTube and watch the videos on how to from Lauer custom weaponry. Follow his steps don't take shortcuts and it will work perfectly.

Excellent product was easy to apply and really turned out nice on my single shot rifles action. I have a old H&R shotgun that needed restoration. Instructions were easy to follow as well the video was to watch on the Duracoats website as well. The action now looks like new since its restoration. Looks like it will last many years of hard use. Thanks for a great product. We all have been waiting a nice product for restorations like this. Have a good day.

The degreaser is next to useless. It flashes on the metal without actually pouring down carrying contaminants away. It also just tends to freeze the metal fast resulting in condensation and rust.... Don't waste your time, find another method of choice to do final degrease/clean prior to paint.

The paint itself works very well. Sandblasting the surface is essential for best adhesion. It flashes fast and dries to the touch fast enough. I bake it for 2 hours at 200 to help it flash off after the final coat and then give it a month to cure fully.

The only downside is that to get full coverage you have to layer it a lot; Took 5 layers over bare metal to cover up, which is really very thick. Then I had to sand some contact surfaces as my slide wouldn't even go on the rails. If you are applying over roughed up existing finish, you could probably do 1-2 coats and be set, but for bare metal, thickness can be an issue. Plan accordingly.

Shine isn't matte. It really is semi gloss which is expected. Looks great tho, just be aware it's not like dull oxide treatment.

An excellent product for coating all metal items, including gun parts. You must follow the directions as stated on the can and be sure that your parts are clean before you start spraying the coating. Be sure that you spray in a dust free area and that you time your work. The in can "Pot Life" for the coating is 36-48 hrs., after that the contents of the can hardens is no longer can be used.. If you are still unsure about the products use, go to "You Tube". There are several good videos available on how to apply the product. I have used this product to coat five complete guns over the last two years and I have been very satisfied with the results.

Very nice results. Was warned by others and video that it goes on THIN. It certainly does. 3 coats will cover your object nicely, however. Easy to cover up a fudge if you bump or touch by mistake (yeah...). Just put on another coat.

Would have been 5 stars except the can leaked from the nozzle stem (right where it goes into the can) very badly when spraying. Didn't leak when not depressed (thankfully), but it was good I was wearing nitrile gloves when I started. Wrapped the can in shop towels when spraying. Got the job done it was just a pain with the paint leaking all over.

That said, I liked the results and will be ordering more for other projects/colors. Hope there is not a repeat with the can.

Worth the money! Clean the item to be painted thoroughly with the included solvent first and if possible, blow dry with compressed air. Also, once you apply the hardener (button on bottom), the entire can must be used up within 4 -6 hours or it's no good so find old tools or car parts and get them all prepared. The volume of paint in one can is more than enough to paint a firearm and several car parts. I repainted a bench grinder.

The quality of the finish is excellent! A month after painting my receiver, I got it laser engraved. The lettering was small and with fine details. The paint did not break at the edges, burn or otherwise.

I wasn’t sold on this till I used it. Super strong coating, I painted test metal and only way to scratch paint was to use point of knife, could not damage by chopping or slicing. Paint showed serial numbers through like it came from factory. My rifle looks awesome, brand new look. Did not use on holstered pistol though.
