Will Gloss+ change my hair color?

If you use the darker Gloss+ colors on lighter hair, it will change your hair color. Generally Gloss+ won’t change your hair color as much as it will add richness and dimension. The great thing about Gloss+ is that it’s not a permanent color!

How long does the semi-permanent color last?

While everyone’s hair is different, Gloss+ typically lasts up to 4 weeks. Naturally, vigorous and frequent washing can fade color and luster faster, so be sure to use products like our ACV Hair Rinse to avoid oil and color stripping.

How much Gloss+ product should I use?

Use enough Gloss+ to thoroughly saturate your hair, just as you would a conditioner!

Leaping Bunny Certified by the Coalition of Consumer Information on Cosmetics for adopting the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. Valid until 11/9/2024.

Added copper tint to dark brown hair; dyed scalp orange; washed out in one week
Wanted to try a penny-like copper on my completely virgin medium/dark brown hair. I figured a gloss like this in Copper would be a good temporary way to test out whether or not I liked the color, but didn’t have high expectations starting with quite a dark base color. I did a strand test first using hair from my brush and it seemed to give it just a tint of copper, so I took the plunge on my whole head.I used a clarifying shampoo in the shower, then applied this with gloves on very damp hair and clipped it up for the rest of my shower, about 15 mins, then rinsed out. I have fine, thin hair about 4” past my shoulders and used about 1/5 of the bottle for this. I was pretty surprised by how long it took to rinse out - pink/coral water just kept coming and coming with no end…I felt like I was rinsing all the color out! Finally I decided I couldn’t rinse any longer...And got out of the shower to see my scalp dyed bright Halloween orange! So it was back in the shower and did some more scrubbing and rinsing to try to remove the scalp stains (which helped a little but my scalp was very much still bright orange for multiple days afterwards - thank goodness I did it on a weekend where I didn't have to be anywhere). Once dry, I could see my roots tinged ever so subtly red-copper but there was absolutely nothing on my lengths or ends. I figured maybe my base color is just too dark for this color, but decided to try one more time. The second time, I decided to apply it to dry hair to see if that would help it take more color. I applied it dry (used much more product this time, about 1/3 bottle) and let it sit for about 30+ mins before rinsing it out in the shower (no shampoo). Same rinsing scenario - I must have been under the water for 10+ minutes doing nothing but rinsing and rinsing, and coral pink was still pouring from my hair until I eventually gave up. So don’t expect this to rinse clear! You can see the results from my photos - you can definitely notice a red/copper tint to it, which was more obvious in person and in direct sunlight! I imagine if you’re starting with a lighter base color, you’d definitely see more result. No real noticeable results in terms of glossiness, softness, nor shine, but my hair is fairly healthy to begin with.Besides my scalp being orange for days, another big con was the fragrance: I’m used to using all fragrance-free products so the smell of this was incredibly perfumey to me. The nights after using it, I kept waking up feeling like I and my pillow were just engulfed in this strong perfumey fragrance. Would have been much nicer if it had no added fragrance and that alone makes me hesitant to use it again. It washed out to the point where it wasn’t noticeable anymore after only about 3-4 washes. I wash my hair every other day so for me this meant it lasted only about one week. And I had to use a towel and pillowcase I didn’t mind getting stained the whole time since so much color poured out every shower and it was staining my white towel (luckily this came out in the wash).Overall: since my base color is already quite dark and it only lasted about 1 week on me, I can’t say it would be worth using this again. The scalp staining and the fragrance make it even less worth it. But it definitely worked for a subtle tint. Apply it dry for the most color deposit. And if you’re starting with a lighter base color, I imagine the results could be pretty dramatic.

I have medium brown hair that has been called auburn because of reddish highlights in some light. For this I mix equal pumps of Light Brown and Strawberry for great result. The scattering of white hair picks up some of the color that tones down their brightness. I generally leave on for 5-10 minutes. Hands do take on some color while working it into the hair, but this easily clears away while soaping my body. Does fade quickly from white hair when washed without using the colored conditioner.

Finally!! This is exactly what I've been looking for!! A semi permanent color that actually deposits color on gray hair! I grew out my natural gray and it's just a little too bright for my 41 yr old self but I didn't want to go back to dying every 3 weeks. I put it on after washing my hair in the shower, left it on for 5 mins tops. WEAR GLOVES! Even in the shower it was staining everything. I used maybe 5 small pumps, combed it thru and the color was perfect. It added a little dark brown tint to my darker color and turned my bright grays like a real light brown. I will leave it on a little longer next time, so it will last longer. I've washed maybe 3 times and I can see the fading but it's so easy to touch up.

I have purchased this product twice and was initially satisfied with my purchase. The first time, I ordered the copper shade, and it was found to be similar to the advertised color, although it was a bit brighter than expected. However, the second time I purchased the Auburn shade, the color was vastly different from what was advertised. I even tried applying twice following all of the instructions and waiting the full 20 minutes both times. The actual color was only slightly darker than the copper shade and appeared even brighter when exposed to sunlight. I want to clarify that I have naturally dark hair with balayage highlights. I have attached a picture of my hair straight, which was intended to be the Auburn color, and another picture of my hair curly, which was intended to be the copper color. I have also included a third picture that shows the colors depicted on the bottles for comparison purposes. Despite the inaccurate advertisement of the Auburn shade, I do not think that the product is inherently flawed. It still effectively delivers its intended purpose and leaves my hair feeling great. I did end up returning the Auburn which I received a full refund. I do plan on ordering another color in the future.

I decided due to cost reasons that professional coloring was no longer feasible for me (and box coloring had previous damaged my hair) - it was time to just go gray. About 8 weeks in I knew it was going to be a problem for me with the drastic line of 50% gray hair growing in.) Even though this product does state it is not for grays, it did take on my stubborn grays! And one bottle will last several applications. Once my hair is grown out I can more easily let the grays show as it is a semi permanent. This left my hair feel so conditioned and shiny. I went with a color most closely matched to my natural hair and it has blended nicely. No complaints and hope to continue using this for at least the next year!

I tried this out today to help covers some grays in my hair. I am thinking of stopping highlighting and going more natural. I left the product on for the full 20 minutes. It did a nice job of covering the grays. Maybe not fully but enough. I need to find out how often to use to keep it up. The Honey Blonde is the color I picked. The product does have a light haircoloring product smell but not bad. My hair was soft after using it. It did not stain my bare hands.

The product gives you a tinted effect as well controls fizziness. Not recommended for dark hair tones. But definitely go to choice if you have faded hair colour

This product exceeded my expectations! I am blown away by the results! For reference, I am a brunette with some greys that have been really making their presence known lately. I haven’t coloured my hair in over a decade and really didn’t want to have to resort to colouring over my greys. I don’t mind the greys, but was hoping to tone them down a little - which is exactly what this product did! While it doesn’t claim to cover greys, it definitely worked for me. Some were covered completely while others now have more of a blonde shimmer. It gave my hair an all over shine and richness that you would expect from a professional colour treatment. This is my new go to product!

Some tips:

If you’re a brunette wear gloves!

If attempting to cover greys apply a few coats of the product (I like to use a hair colouring brush)

I left it on for 20 minutes

Well for 45.00 plus tax I am extremely disappointed with the size of this bottle had I known it was as tiny as it is I probably wouldn’t of ordered it! Idc how big of celebrity a person is as far as my opinion this bottle shouldn’t cost anymore then 19.99 not 45.00

Will colour over blonde for a quick fix and last about 2 days on blonde hair.

Easy to use and washes out in a few washes.

I have type 3C medium density & medium thickness hair shaft, healthy overall due to washing with filtered water once a week & only use Aveda & Curlsmith shampoo & deep convictioning treatment and leave-in conditioner. Used the gloss in dark brown once after shampooing (hadn't washed for 4 days prior to application) as instructed & left on for the recommended 20 minutes. Rinsing was easy but did temporarily stain my bathtub and my scalp. My hair showed no conditioning or gloss effect in appearance and felt big as if due to hygral fatigue (swelling to the inner cortex). My hair felt brittle, dry, dull and just rough to the touch. Devastating outcome honestly as I'm trying to maintain hair health to grow it long. Application was on May 30, today is June 9 and my ends feel fried and my scalp has been irritated since colouring, maybe has to do with Propylene Glycol being the third highest ingredient in the product. It's know to cause damage to protein in skin and hair and that's why many manufacturers never add it these days especially to better quality products that appeal to those wanting safer more natural ingredients like Curlsmith and Aveda. I've used box color a few times in my 50 years and those have high lightner content and still never saw damage anywhere near what dpHue caused just from one single application. I think this product is 100% not suitable for anyone on a hair growth journey or anyone with high porousity hair or anyone who cares about maintaining the health and appearance and feel of healthy hair. I hope dpHue reviews these details to better improve their product and keep their clients safe.
