3-way IEMs with Configurable Filters

With its triple-driver configuration and Deep Open Bore design, Westone Audio's EAS30 in-ear monitors don't just let you hear your mix, they let you hear it exactly the way you want to. That's because these custom-molded 3-way in-ears include customizable attenuation filters, in addition to the Flex Canal tips and precise acoustic symmetry that define Westone Audio's top-quality products. That means you can choose exactly how much outside sound you want to block out, from 10dB to 27dB, so you can hear the monitor mix and stay connected with your audience.

Get the perfect fit with custom-molded earphones

Sweetwater makes ordering custom-molded Westone Audio in-ear monitors totally painless, thanks to the one-on-one service you'll get from your Sales Engineer. Just give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call, and we'll walk you through all the options to create a personalized order just for you. We'll also send you a PDF with instructions for your audiologist, who will take impressions of your ears and send them directly to Westone Audio. Once Westone Audio has your ear impressions, they'll fabricate your custom in-ear monitors and send them straight to you.

Deep Open Bore design for controlled ambience

There are two major bonuses Westone Audio's Deep Open Bore design delivers that go beyond the amazing clarity of their original Dual Bore housing. First, it upgrades the acoustic seal, providing superior sonic isolation and comfort. Second, it allows your EAS30s to offer a smooth and natural way to control how much ambience you do hear. By swapping out the filters, you can get the right amount of attenuation you need to hear the mix and connect with the audience.

Flex Canal conforms to your ear canal

Westone Audio takes the concept of a perfect fit beyond even their high standard of custom-molded earpieces with their Flex Canal technology. When you insert your EAS30s, a firm semisoft canal section slides into your ear canal, providing an exceptional acoustic seal. As the Flex Canal reacts to your body temperature, it softens and conforms to the shape of your ear canal, maintaining its seal but providing additional comfort. You just can't beat the fit, especially for extended wearing.

Built to last with cold-pour acrylic earpieces

Typical earpieces are made using a high-temperature curing process. This saves the manufacturer valuable time, but it produces a somewhat porous earpiece that's neither durable nor as acoustically isolating as possible. Westone Audio's cold-pour acrylic earpieces are far denser than hot-molded types, resulting in superior acoustics, durability, and appearance.

Balanced-armature drivers offer comfort and detail

Unlike traditional earphones, which use moving-coil speakers, Westone Audio's EAS30 features their innovative balanced-armature drivers. These remarkably compact and incredibly efficient transducers take up far less space than typical drivers, without losing the slightest bit of sonic detail. What's more, when it comes to multi-driver earphones such as the EAS30, the small size of these transducers allows the earpieces to seal well and sit comfortably in your ears while providing superior isolation.

Replaceable EPIC cable extends earphone life

If you've ever owned a pair of high-end earphones that were rendered useless because of a damaged cable, then you know how frustrating that can be. Westone Audio completely eliminates that issue with their removable EPIC (Earphone Precision Interface Cable) cable, which is easy to replace by hand. And you'll probably never need to replace your EPIC cable, thanks to the durable braided outer layer and aramid fiber reinforcement protecting its flexible, ultra-low-resistance tinsel wire.

Westone Audio EAS30 Custom-molded 3-driver Earphones Features:

  • Custom-molded 3-driver earphones for serious performing musicians
  • Custom-fit specifically to the contour of your ear for maximum comfort
  • Deep Open Bore design provides an extra-comfortable fit and isolation

Using them is always a treat

I've been using them for almost a year now. Originally purchased them for stage use but now I'm using them at home to listen to music on my PC (high definition, high bit, high resolution, through a pro audio DAC) because it always wows me. BTW, I did not have any issues with the -10dB filters as the other purchaser did.

On stage I can't imagine anything being better. It's super accurate and clear. Let's face it, on stage, I'm focused more on performing so I don't get to consciously appreciate the nuances that these provide. they become transparent and I stop even noticing them, which is a great thing.

When I use them to play music at home is where I can't believe that I can listen to music that I've listened to over twenty years and now I can hear nuances and texture that I never could before even with high end headphones I've used over the years. Studio albums started sounding alive as though I could hear every imperfection (in a good way) that makes it so humanly genuine. I listen to all types of music and where there are vocals and instruments, what I can now hearthrough these IEMs is astounding.

It was an expensive purchase yet one of the best way I've ever spent money.

Amazing clarity and separation--but 10 dB filters may not work

I ordered a set of these to replace my entry-level Sure SE215's, since I had some available funds to treat myself to a set of custom IEM's. As a bonus, they were on sale at Sweetwater during the month of December, and also included Bluetooth adapters. Very cool!

After ordering these with -10 dB filters, I paid a visit to my local audiologist for ear molds (Typically a $30-40 charge) and then shipped them to Westone. A few weeks later they arrived, and I picked them up on the way to band rehearsal. I was so excited to fire them up and hear what triple drivers were like!

However...something was very wrong. The -10 dB filters turned out to be hypersensitive to motion, such that moving my head was enough to make them open and close in a way that made the world sound like someone put a random flanger on everything. If I wiggled my head, it produced a very unusual warbly kind of effect. Very unnerving, so I popped out the -10 dB filters and put in the solid plugs instead.

It was really disappointing to not have the benefit of the ambient ports after paying extra for the feature, but Chris at Sweetwater connected me with Eric in Tech Support, and working with him and the in-house Westone rep we concluded that either the -10 dB filters were bad, or just too sensitive to use with my particular ears.

Westone sent me a pair of -16 dB filters at no additional cost, and THAT made all the difference in the world! No more flangy-warbly-spacy side effect, and I could finally start updating my monitor mix properly.

I needed to push the kick drum and bass a bit more than previously, but doing so highlighted the fact that my previous single-driver IEM's just smeared the mix quite a bit, especially in the low end.

The EAS30's gave every instrument and voice it's own space in the mix, with clarity and transparency I've never heard before--I literally giggled when I had things dialed in! Now I can interact so much better with every other member of the band, since each has their own "space" in my mix where I can clearly pick out what they're playing and details aren't lost.

With the -16 dB filters in place, the ambient ports work great, allowing me to stay connected with the audience and the performance while not compromising my mix. Now I need to figure out how to discourage people from coming up to me and making requests while I'm both singing and playing, since I don't have any excuses for not hearing them!

One thing to note, however: While the solid plugs and -10dB filters could be easily removed and installed snugly, the -16dB filters were unusually tight. I worked at them carefully and got them seated all the way, and as long as I don't need to regularly remove them that's just fine. Seems like a quality issue, which I'll report back to Westone.

bad experience start to finishq

Dealing with 3 vendors made this unpleasant. Sweetwater was great as the gatekeeper but thats where it ended. Had to hunt down an audiologist who was disappointed I wasn't another routine medicare patient, and after practically bribing him, he helped make the molds which I then had to ship to Westone after filling out very unconventional handwritten paperwork with essay like answers which gave me great uncertainty wondering if I gave the proper info or passed an exam, weeks later I finally received the product which•••. honestly did not impress me at all sonically nor anatomically in that the fit was not hand in glove as I'd expect, which lead to one falling out of my ear at first sweat during a gig which was their debut and demise. The earpiece must've impacted just right or just homemade to where it split in half like a bi-valve and before you can say superglue, I held the 2 halves together seeing if it still worked only to recoil from the earpiece which was now screeching like a blown tweet with a distortion so offensive my sound guy handed me his extra SHure pair which I hesitantly accepted. Now I can drum up a lot more abuse than that by just putting them on and fnagling them into place•but I thought warranty will cover this, but oh warranty just ended so now I'm thinking I've got to plead and beg to Westone hearing aid company because I'd like to see the fruit of my investment just once, but that too was a dream-on cause westone's cust srvc was all about going thru the proper deptmt, filling out formal paperwork that I had filled out in an email, but rather wanted me to send in info that would approve my RMA request and blah blah bureaucracy. Even after filling out this paperwork twice I never heard back from them and if I tried calling they send me the same apply for RMA type form. Unbelieveably obstructionist. I pretty much gave up not very inspired by the quality of build but moreso the lackluster sonic experience. Jus saying
