I love this little thing. I am an audio engineer student currently and I was looking for something I could use for location recording. I use the extra XLR inputs all the time for spot mics. It’s like having your own little studio on the go. I also use it as an audio interface straight into pro tools or logic which is very handy as well. Different levels of phantom are available as well as limiters and pass filters. The stereo and XY mic included are actually very nice. The XY capsules are actually quite large. The sound quality is better than I expected and I tend to use the XY quite frequently. It’s really a great tool to have if you are looking for something portable and reasonably priced.

I picked up this recording kit to use for a graduate school class. It works well and has an easy to use interface. One thing that I did notice when I picked up this item and a microphone, neither came with an XLR cable, so you will need to purchase that separately. It also works very well with the shotgun mic that you can purchase separately and attaches to the top of the recorder.

4/5 stars for now because the tripod shown is not the one received. The one received is cheap thin plastic junk. The case also is junk. Only two compartments have foam, and then only on one side. It is real thin cheap plastic - not what you would expect for a sensitive electronic component. The headphones, as well, are garbage. They are like headphones for a little kid in that the frequency response is average, with what appears to be bass boost. If you like bass and distortion, you'll like them. If you like more accurate (and clear) sound reproduction, you won't like them. They really sound like a speaker covered with a pillow.

The recorder itself is alright, my biggest beef is that the VU meter is virtually useless. Unless you use an external mic, you can't see it.

Whatever you do, don't waste the extra money for this bundle. Just get the extra stuff separately. I didn't expect any of this stuff to be primo, but at least adequate,... and it's not.

It is easy to use and the sound Quality is excellent. It comes with its own case making it very easy to transfer from one location to the next. Was overpriced for the kit. Extras on top of the zoom kit were $20 headphones, $15 batteries, and a handheld boom mic holder. Not worth the extra 300 for the kit. Batteries lasted around 15 min from full charge.
