No idea if the battery will last years and no idea if the cable will hold up but so far, these did what I wanted.
Cons: skip to next song, back to last song is not real good. Supposed to press for 3 seconds, hard to do with mittens or gloves on and only get it to work 50% of the time. The only other con is the built in microphone is not reliable for voice conversations, the other person always says thy can barely hear me when I answer using the headphones but the Siri voice commands work a little better. I don’t want to talk to anyone while I’m boarding anyway.
I beat these up all season and they still sound great. Highly recommend these.
Unfortunately way thick/ big for ski helmet.
Update:
So I errored, didn’t realize there were pads in the ear flaps, once removed these can be positioned comfortably….sorry about that….lol
sound quality is just fine, better then I'd expect from what are basically speaker pucks next to your ears, although I have not compared to other helmet audio solutions.
The battery life is good enough for a full, very cold day of skiing. But make sure to charge overnight because it is NOT long enough for two days. The charging port is accessible enough so you don't have to remove them fully during charging.
They are somewhat bulky beneath the helmet earcups, but the wire connecting the earpieces is thin enough that I've routed it over the top of my head, beneath the foam pads of my helmet and cannot feel that its there.
Again, these were listed for years at a much lower price, about half of what it is today ($70 USD). They were just barely worth the money based on my experience with headphones and audio products in the past, but it seems in-helmet audio prices have skyrocketed across the board since then.
This is annoying as i have to return the item every time, they cant just refund the difference.
Headphones wise, they are ok, the sound is good enough, it gets better when its loud, but too loud to use on a ski resort safely as you cant hear anything around.
Besides that its too thick, it presses on the ears, so the ears hurt after a while.
the battery lasts a whole day
