Until the Blood Runs Dry: A Wonderland Chronicles Novella (The Wonderland Chronicles) Kindle Edition
Mar is running away from an untenable situation and finds herself drowning her sorrows in a pub.
Vic is a centuries-old vampire who has been starving herself after losing her closest companion.
When their eyes connect from across the room, each finds themselves pulled to each other. However, needing to know if it's a connection or blood lust, Vic flees the pub to feed and clear her mind. Realizing that it was not blood lust, Vic then comes up with a plan to make Mar her newest companion.

A super quick but enjoyable read.
Not a genre that I would normally read but I was intrigued and the novella did not disappoint.
A good storyline, a tragic and sad yet moving story of two people from two different worlds drawn together, and an ending I didn’t see coming.

1 Star ~ Kylie;
I do not understand this book or the hype.
The storyline is all over the place and honestly, even after reading the acknowledgments of the author saying this has taken her multiple attempts, it feels like this was a rushed effort with no real thought-out process.
It’s insta-lust followed by a few sex scenes (nothing to write home about) and then a ton of… nothingness. I had to force myself to focus and not skim through. There is no HEA either.
Oh, side note, the author mentioned that an original draft of this story had the MC turning into a monster because of an edging scene gone wrong (it was going to be enemies to lovers), now THAT, I feel would have been a more interesting approach and I would have liked to see how that would have played out.
Huge thank you to MC for the opportunity to read this work early!
This sapphic, villain tragedy is inspired by The Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula. Though a quick read, this novella completely submerges you in those vibes and doesn’t disappoint any of the detail it brings, even the tragic aspect.
I finished it at the beginning of this month, but I couldn’t quite place the words to give this review. It truly was beautiful and heart-gripping. I still can’t stop thinking about how it ended.
You follow our vampire, Vic, and her journey after losing a companion. This journey includes starvation and truly just her loneliness in this. She’s scared of losing control, and all she wants is another companion. This is where Mar comes in. In a spontaneous moment, their eyes meet. They’re drawn to each other, and Vic has her eyes set on Mar filling the empty space beside her. But, unbeknown to Vic, there is much more in the way than her bloodlust.
I definitely recommend this to anyone that may be interested in these elements. It’s very fast-paced. It’s messy, it’s tragic, it’s brutal. I also loved the writing style that MC Johnson produces and wanted to give that its own acknowledgment. Also, for such a quick read, there’s GREAT spice presented.
After a chance encounter at a local pub, the two women are left wondering if they've found what they've been looking for. The only question is, can Vic compel Mar to stay with her for all eternity?
Until the Blood Runs Dry is a dark and gothic reimagining of Dracula and Bride of Frankenstein. MC Johnson does an excellent job at putting the reader right there in 1930's Britain alongside her characters. Though it's an insta-lust, you get to see character development as the story progresses, and you can't help but root for the two women to succeed.
I would have liked more spice; there's a fade to black scene that is not cool, but damn the spice in this book is nice! Fair warning, there is a scene that contains depictions of knife/blade play and fisting. There is also mention of blood (I mean, naturally), and some on page graphic violence. Overall, I cannot recommend this novella enough, it's so well written and great for year-round gothic, horror fun.

The story follows Mars, a person running from her problems and consumed by the weight of her history. Then by a turn of events, we meet Vic, a character shrouded with msytery that carries sadness upon her shoulders. When their journey’s collide it was truly a story for the ages. For the sake of dodging spoilers, I’ll just say that I loved watching as their interactions sparked the development of the crazy endings. From the interesting character development to the dark gothic themes within the story—it was an intriguing read and I’d suggest you check it out!
I wasn’t sure I wanted to read a tragedy but the author’s writing is always worth reading. I’m going say for me it’s more 4 1/2 ⭐️ but rounded up because I’d definitely recommend this novella, with warnings lol, but it’s not going to live rent free in my brain (at least I hope not!) I kept reminding myself of Mar in Ryn and the Red Queen. I am most definitely looking forward to read more of Mar’s story.
The only thing I didn’t understand was the reasoning for the ending since she had learned Igor’s role and it took weeks to finish. Like wouldn’t there have been a time during that to see the truth or did she succumb to Igor’s truths about the vampire? I don’t know, maybe it’s purposeful because I’m hooked and want to learn more!
To sum up, the MCs eyes meet across a pub and there is an instant connection. One MC is a vampire and sets out to have Mar become her companion. With the help of her trusty (not) friend, it is decided to make Mar immortal but not through the vampire bite. Mar is instantly in lust as is Vic and there’s some lovely spicy scenes between them. Until it becomes messy and tragic.
