What Didn't Work For Me:

- Typical formula of h only having one bad sexual experience versus the H who has much more experience.

- I like my heroines to be bold and Ember was super shy and would blush like crazy.

- The climax and drama afterwards was just annoying, especially considering how drama free the rest of the book was.

What Worked For Me:

- Robbie and how he chased after Ember. Before the book starts he was kinda hot and cold but from the start of the book he is looking to make amends for his past behavior and wants to get to know her. He loved her like crazy and was super possessive. Kinda reminded me of Aurora Rose Reynolds' heros.

- Like I said earlier, Robbie has much more sexual experience than Ember but thankfully it wasn't thrown in my face. He didn't think about past hookups, no OW showed up, and he didn't compare Ember to his past women like most heros do. The one time Ember brought up his past he told her to stop and that he didn't want her thinking about him with any other woman.

- I loved the support group Ember and Robbie had. I can only wish for friends and family that are that amazing.

Overall, this book was pretty addicting and I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

I just finished Salvation and I really enjoyed this book. It is apart of a Surrender series but can be read as a stand alone. I had not read the other books and was able to follow just fine but wished to hell that I had read them! It would have given me good insight into some of the secondary characters. This is Robbie and Ember's story. Robbie is Raven's brother (Raven and Declan from Surrendering and Surviving books) Raven and Declan are getting married and are working with Ember. She works a Clyde's where she designs dresses. This is how Ember and Robbie meet. They are both instantly attracted to each other but Robbie is an absolute jerk to her. She doesnt have a very good self esteem anyways with they way that her childhood was and tries to shrug it off Robbie on the other hand wants her but she is pure and innocent and he doesnt deserve someone like her.

"You're to pure for a man with demons like me. I have my own sh*t buried deep, just like you."

However, the heart wants what the heart wants!

"But maybe one day we can share those with each other. I dont want to be your friend, Ember. I want to be more."

Like I had said before Ember hasnt had the best childhood. Her mother and sister were absolutely horrible to her. She feels like she doesnt deserve happiness either but she feels safe with Robbie.

"You make me feel safe, Robbie. Im not sure why, but every time you pull me close or hold me, a sense of peace settles over me."

Here is the thing though. Her mother and sister are still out to ruin Ember's happiness. Ember has to open up to Robbie and tell him everything that had happened to her. She is afraid that she will taint their relationship and he wont stick around. Robbie is in it for the long haul and takes alot of convincing on his part for her to understand but a misunderstanding leads him to question them. You just have to read this story. You will not want to miss out on this!

I am hooked! Im gonna be honest. It started off to me too sweet. Maybe it is because I have read alot of bad dirty mouth guys and it was just different. Once it picked up in their relationship I changed my mind! Robbie, you dirty boy you! Yeah, he made my shiver. What I loved most about him was that he was just a honest guy and just wanted to protect Ember from everything. A little possessive but hell, who wouldnt want that! Ember, I felt really bad for her. Once she kept giving Robbie more of what happened in her life, my heart broke for her. She has alot of vulnerability but is strong in her own way and that made me relate more to her. Im gonna be honest, something happened that I didnt see coming and DAYUM my heart literally split into two and I broke down and cried along with Ember. Holy sh*tballs. I was just so into that scene. I just couldnt help it!

I enjoyed the secondary characters too. They brought alot of depth to the story and I cannot wait to see more from them. This was a first for me for Ahren and all I can say it I have found another author that puts me into their story, makes me apart of their family and I want more....like yesterday!

This was a really good book ,but I wished I would have read the first two first because I felt like i was missing part of the story in the beginning. After I got into the book though I pretty much forgot there were other books.
All of the characters in this book were very relatable and likeable. The pain that Robbie had from being in the military was unimaginable and I was happy he found his match with Ember after he finally gave in and stopped being a jerk.

This book was well written and I liked it so much that I am definitely going to go back and read the other 2!

This is the third book in a stand alone series. This is Robbie and Embers story.
Ember is a strong woman who has been beat down by her mother and sister they did everything they could to break her beyond repair. Her father did everything he could to take care of her and still stay with his wife and other daughter. One day he hit breaking point and should have left years earlier. Through a crazy series of events Embers father Thad ended up in jail and Ember ended up leaving and moving in with her eccentric aunt and gay cousin Cruz.
Ember went to college for fashion and design she also works full time at the family business. She is very reserved and holds back on life she has no friends and has never dated.
Then she met Robbie who was at the shop for a tux fitting for his sisters wedding to a famous rock star.
Robbie was attracted to Ember but decided that he has his own demons to face and didn't want to get involved with someone as pure and delicate as Ember. He feels that he will corrupt her. Robbie was a marine and had a bad accident on duty almost lost his leg and he lost 4 of his team and "brothers" he is healed physically but not mentally.
Raven is Robbie's sister and has taken a liking to Ember even though Ember is very reserved and keeps to herself Raven knows there is more to this girl and wants to get her out amount the girls.
Ember agrees to go out with them for a night of fun where Robbie isn't the nicest to her.
Robbie decides a few weeks later he cant stay away from Ember any longer he goes to her shop and spends the evening getting to know her he even asked her on a date. Robbie canceled the date because she is to real and it scares him he wants more than a hook up and he cant deal with his feelings.
After he relies what a jerk he was he takes her lunch and then they start dating and taking things slow to get to know each other and fix the trust issues, there is a lot more to Ember than meets the eye but he cant stay away. He wants her to trust him and love him.
Embers life is finally on track she is in love she has it all the life that she always wanted friends, family and a future until her past collides with her present.
She didn't think that her sister and mother could do any more damage to her but they can and did.
It almost destroys her but it breaks Robbie who then leaves and that is the breaking point she is a shell of what she one was.
Will she ever be fixed? or is her life always destined to be like this?
I cant say any more...
This is the first Ahern Sanders book that I have read but it will not be the last. The story was amazing and there is a lot of twists and turns in this book. I give it 5 stars and I cant wait to read the other two books.
I definitely recommend this book you will not be disappointed in it.

YEP, Ahren Sanders has another hit on her hands. Salvation is the third book in the Surrendering series. This is Robbie and Ember's story, and what a story it is. We know that Robbie is Raven's brother, a Marine that was injured in combat, troubled by the events that led to loosing six of his brothers and almost loosing his leg, what we find out about Robbie in this story is that he is fiercely protective of those he loves. We first met Ember in Surviving when Raven goes to the bridal store where she works when she is planning her wedding, we know that she is shy but this book tells us about everything that makes Ember the sweet, shy person she is.

Ember has not had an easy life, she was neglected by her mother and abused by her sister, her father was the only good thing in her life until he was sent to prison. Words will not do this justice but I wanted to reach into the book and give her a big hug and keep her protected from the people that are messing with her. Robbie does a good job of that for the most part but there are times he needed a good smack in the head. I really liked how the whole crew embraced Ember into there little group, which seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

Ahren Sanders I am anxiously awaiting Finn's story, I've been a big fan of his since the first book and I really, really hope he gets his happy ending next. ;)

Another wonderful book by Ahren Sanders. Again overall it is low on drama which I love. And when the couple does have an issue it isn't dragged out too long.

It's hard to say no to a book by this author, having loved the other two books of hers I've read, so, without reading the first two books in this series, I dove into Salvation. And I was rewarded with a standalone story that's sexy, sweet and little bit heartbreaking. Oh, and a new book boyfriend. Hooray!

After an accident left him broken and scarred, Robbie Hayes is working to escape the nightmares and memories that plague him. He thinks that Ember Walker is too beautiful and too innocent for the likes of him. She has a way of making the pain of his past fade away, and damn, if he doesn't want to protect her and keep her safe. But will that be enough when her past comes back to haunt them?

Oh sweet baby Jesus in a basket...ROBBIE. I loved this hot former Marine, with his over-protective streak, and his sweet, generous nature. I loved that he was willing to take him time with Ember, that he wasn't afraid to admit that his past left him wounded -- physically and mentally -- and that he owned his mistakes. Oh, and I REALLY loved his dirty mouth....*wipes brow* It was just so easy to see why Ember would want to be with him, because I want to, too. A lot.

Ember, on the other hand, I occasionally wanted to talk some sense into. I felt for her though, and damn, if her pain didn't become my pain. She may have come across as somewhat of a pushover at times, but I'd be lying to myself (and you) if I didn't own that that aspect of her personality worked for the story. And what a story it was.

There were a few changes of pace and direction in Salvation, and it kept me on my toes. While I may not have always exactly followed the references to the previous stories in this series, I was still able to enjoy (and fall for) this book and this circle of friends. And it is a great circle of friends. About two chapters into this story, I was already enamored with all of them. Ahren Sanders just has a writing style that appeals to me; from the fun banter to the touching support they offer each other, this group makes me want to drop everything and find out MORE.

Perhaps I will do just that. I'm now three books into this author, and I've loved each one. I think it's high time I go acquainted with her earlier work. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

I feel like I've been waiting forever to read Robbie and Ember's story but man it was so worth the wait. Ahren Sanders has made me one happy reader. Epic emotional roller coaster of a read. Meet Ember the shy introvert who has been deeply hurt by the ones who are suppose to protect her. Robbie has been physically and emotionally damaged by the war. Can these two be each others Salvation? Fans of Surrendering and Surviving will love reading Salvation because you will see some famous scenes from Robbie and Ember's POV. Robbie is one hot alpha male who does everything he can to heal Ember but will it be enough? Or will the past come knocking on the door destroying any hope of happiness these two deserve?

First let me say that even though this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading “Surrendering” and “Surviving” first. (Both books are on my favorites book shelf!) The secondary characters in “Salvation” are either featured in the first two books or are secondary characters in the first two books, therefore making you feel more involved in “Salvation” by understanding the backgrounds and the relationships between all of the characters.
“Salvation” is Robbie and Ember’s story. Robbie, an ex-marine, first sees Ember in her formal wear shop when he goes with his sister Raven, her fiance, Declan and the other groomsmen to be sized for their tuxes for Raven and Declan’s upcoming wedding.

There’s an instant attraction between Robbie and Ember but Robbie’s determined to push her away because he thinks he’s no good for her.
Embry felt the attraction that first day as well so she’s confused when every time she sees Robbie he either ignores her or he’s rude to her. But then one day he’s nice. This confuses her even more.

Did I mention that Robbie is totally hot and treats Ember like a princess! Eventually Robbie gives into his attraction despite the fact that he doesn’t feel he deserves her. But Ember has had a crappy life and she’s shied away from relationships after a bad breakup with her douche of an ex-boyfriend who won’t leave her alone. She has her own ghosts to excise.

As the relationship builds between Robbie and Ember we are swept up in their lives but as with her previous books author, Ahren Sanders, has wonderful secondary characters. The friends and family of Robbie are very close. As a reader we feel like we are a part of this wonderful group of friends. We want to be friends with these loyal and protective friends.

The story is told from both Robbie and Ember’s POV. Both Robbie and Ember have things happen to them in their past that have left them with feelings of guilt. But neither of them talks about their pasts making it impossible to really complete their relationship. Secrets bring trust issues between two people. Will they bare their soles and put themselves out there so they can share their love or will they go their separate ways, continuing to be lonely and isolated?
There is also danger involved and Robbie is protective of Ember. He works for a high end security company and he’ll do everything in his power to keep her safe.

This book has danger, adventure and love! And some hot sex. Your emotions will rise and fall as Robbie and Ember work to be together despite what the world is throwing at them. You will also suffer though some heartache.

I absolutely love Robbie and Ember! I love all of Ahren Sanders characters. They are well developed and there is such a tight bond between the characters.
This goes straight to my favorites list along with “Surrendering” and “Surviving”. I really didn’t think that Ms. Sanders could outdo “Surrendering” and “Surviving” but she has proven me wrong with “Salvation!”
“Salvation” takes you on a wild ride but ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger!

I highly recommend this book and although a standalone I think you will enjoy the book so much more if you read “Surrendering” and “Surviving” first. Both of which are awesome books.

I was given an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.

Salvation means different things to different people. For some, faith allows them to feel liberated and safe. For others, redemption comes from themselves, finding the inner strength to move past the hardships and survive. And still for quite a few, preservation can only occur when they feel like there is someone always on their side, fighting alongside them so that regardless of the baggage that exists, the ability to free themselves from burden can occur.

Ember Walker is a 23 year old woman who lives the life of a hermit because the scars of her past refuse to allow her to put herself out in the world and do more than survive. She's extremely guarded and suffers from self esteem issues because she's always been made to feel that she is inferior and worthless. But Ember's saving grace comes in the form of a man who has his own demons but realizes early on that Ember's light deserves to shine and regardless of the fact that Robbie Hayes feels he's not good enough for a caring and wholesome girl like Ember, he makes it his main priority in life to crush her darkness and conquer her past.

I absolutely adored everything about Ember and Robbie's story. It's a text full of raw emotions felt by both the characters and readers alike. I laughed; I cried; I swooned; I raged. Ahren Sanders allows her readers into the complicated and at times dark minds of both Ember and Robbie, so we understand how much their individual torment has shaped their lives. There's guilt over things out of their control; there's anger over the situations they were forced to endure, and there's an immense amount of pain and suffering still to be dealt with and the only way Ember and Robbie will conquer it is to rely on one another, which is easier said than done, especially for Ember, because for the longest time, there hasn't been anyone in her corner, and she's only relied on herself.

There are many layers to Ember and Robbie's story, and Ahren Sanders takes her time in laying them out for readers, so we don't feel overwhelmed all at once with everything that Ember has gone through and what that means for her relationship with Robbie and the trust she slowly gains for him as their bond solidifies.

With someone who is as emotionally damaged as Ember, Robbie needs to tread lightly and prove to her on a consistent basis how much she means to him, and boy does Robbie step up in HUGE ways. Robbie is an alpha to his core; he's protective and jealous, but he's also honest and devoted, which is exactly the type of man Ember needs. When the shitstorm of Ember's family hits, Robbie takes the lead and does his best to shield her from any further damage at the hands of her spiteful mother and sister, but even he can't control everything, which is why there's progress and setbacks throughout the text, and that's exactly how it should be written in a situation like Robbie and Ember find themselves in with uncontrollable outside forces threatening to continually wreak havoc.

I could go on and on about this book and the experience I had while reading it, but the best thing I can do is allow readers to experience it for themselves because it's an emotional journey that you won't regret reading.

Salvation has everything a story should have, and I absolutely loved it and can't wait for Finn's story!

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

For me, essential elements of fiction include strong characterisation, a meaningful theme, a good writing style including descriptive prose and good dialogue, and a well developed plot.

Salvation has little going for it.

It was a great premise. Wounded war veteran, Robbie meets psychologically and physically abused Ember. Their backgrounds are superficially described and frequently referred to but not explored in any way. The only tension that might arise from their troubled backgrounds comes towards the end of the book via a highly contrived and completely unrealistic catalyst, bad guy/good guy Dade, crosses their paths. Ember's breakdown is handled well and is a great piece of writing. It's an excellent insight to how someone can overcome their hurt and damaged history to find a new and stronger footing on which to go forward. Unfortunately it quickly deteriorates to the cliches that fill the rest of the book. Ember wants an equal relationship (yay!) but that apparently equal relationship requires Robbie to worship Ember.... Robbie's journey of supposed self discovery and sorting of demons had the potential to be similarly cathartic but all the reader got was a brief description of where he went, a statement he wasn't having nightmares anymore, and a conversation with his mates that he should go back to Ember. Superficial drivel.

The was little in the way if character development, the plot was all over the place, the dialogue was cliched, and the writing was worse than patchy. Salvation had the potential for a great romance in the context of two people finding themselves and each other but it didn't deliver.

I find myself asking why I bother having a top 10 favourite reads because its never ending LOL and yet again I have another to add to my endless list !

Robbie , an ex marine comes from a large , rather colorful and loving family♥ but he is haunted by the loss of some of his "brothers" during a "friendly" while at war.
His sister Raven is about to get married and its when they go for tuxedo fittings that his world changes and soon his world becomes Ember !

Now Ember lives with her cousin Cruz and hippie aunt Chloe and what a hoot she is ....got to love her!
There's alot of talent in this family. ..

Ember didn't have it easy growing up and the damage her mother and sister caused ( they're satan's spawn by the way) runs deep Chloe , Cruz and Alex have struggled to get her where she is now so I can understand where they're coming from when Robbie enters the picture♥

Ember and Robbie both have demons that haunt them but despite that they share a deep and intense love for one another and those they love.

There were moments in their story that I was on the edge of my seat with anxiety and fear and then there were moments where only my kleenex could console me ♥

Early in the book I managed to attract the attention of my fellow patrons in the coffee shop....I snorted my coffee through my nose !!! Yes that happened !! Ember was relaying her experience with BJ'S (the shooter) and it was priceless so you've been warned do not eat or drink anything :)

Ember , Robbie ,their friends and loved ones will forevermore have a special place in my bookie heart ♥Salvation earned each ★ of this ★★★★★ read and I'll be shouting Ahren Sanders name from rooftops !

There is not a book of Ahren Sanders that I haven't or will not read. She is one of my favorite authors. The Surrender Series is one of my favorite series. That being said, she knocked it out of the park with Salvation! Freakin LOVED every minute of this book!

Robbie Hayes's life drastically changed the day a horrific accident messed him up. He decided then and there, that he would always be in control no matter what. While he's healed, the emotional scars are still there. Ember Walker has had a very tough life. She has to run away to leave all the hatred and evil that surrounds her at home. She has gotten away from it but like Robbie, the emotional scars also remain deep. When these two meet, it's so much fun to watch. Will they be able to out run their memories? Will they be each other's salvation?

OMG I can't say it enough, I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. That is a tribute to the author, as I never thought she could top Declan but she did! Thank goodness he was still in the story. The story was brilliantly written, the characters very well developed and relatable, the supporting characters were simply amazing, all the emotions were in there (including hot as hell sex scenes), and the love was so fabulously written that I felt it through my kindle like I was standing next to them. I seriously wish I could give more than a measly 5 stars. Could go on all day but I will end with this.........Ahren Sanders is an AMAZING author and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this EPIC book and series! Ahren

Robbie Hays is the ultimate book boyfriend.

In this third book is Ahren Sanders' Surrender series, Robbie has given up his dream of a military career. After a life-altering attack while overseas, he not only severely injured his leg, he lost six of his military 'brothers'. He was saved by his best friend but continues to have nightmares and bouts of guilt. He meets a sweet girl through his sister, Raven (the main character from book #1 and #2) and, though he's instantly attracted to her, feels he isn't good enough to pursue her. Acting like a complete jerk, he attempts to push her away until he just can't resist her any more.

Ember Walker has finally found a happy place where she feels she belongs. Working with her aunt and cousin in the family dress boutique, she assists brides in finding the perfect dress, as well as dresses for their bridesmaids, mothers, etc. She loves her work and puts long hours into the business' success. Befriended by Raven Hays, soon to be Collins, when she helps her choose her wedding dress, Ember is invited to a social event where she meets Raven's brother, Robbie. Shocked by his rude behavior, she's apprehensive when he comes into her shop on an errand for his sister.

Not only does Robbie have to convince Ember that he's not really a jerk, he also has to convince himself that he's good enough for someone like her. What follows is an exciting, sweet tale of two wounded people who come together to heal each other with love and happiness.

"You mean something special to me, Ember. More than special. I want you to know that."

"I love you, Ember. I've wanted to repeat those words you didn't mean for me to hear. The minute they spilled from your mouth, my heart started racing. It took all my power not to roll you over and tell you right away. Since the night I walked into Clyde's. I've been falling in love with you."

"For you, I'll do anything."

"For the first time in my life, I feel lucky, loved, and completely safe."

☆☆Reviewed for Hooked On Books ☆ ☆

I gave this book 5 stars!

I was so excited to finally read Robbie's story. I couldn't get enough so I was definitely hooked. From the first word to the last you will go through so many emotions. It broke my heart what Ember went through but to see what Robbie seen and went through I was a bubbling mess. The characters grab you and will stick like glue to you well after you finish.

Robbie is Raven's brother. He is Hot, ex-marine, and has nightmares of the day he lost his brothers.

Ember has had a hellish teenage years and has finally started to breath again after 5 years.

When Robbie comes into the bridal shop for Raven's wedding and meets Ember.

When things from Embers past come back can Robbie stand by her or will he run?

Ahren you have once again blown me away with your writting. Looking forward to reading more from you.

Received from the author for a honest review. The story of Ember & Robbie is a heart breaking story of trust. Ember is hard to trust and Robbie needs trust to make things work. To Ember -Robbie is the perfect family, living the perfect life. He is way out of her league. But Robbie has he's own painful past. After a few tours in Afghanistan, he has seen the worst of the war and his nightmares keep him up.
I really enjoyed this book and the series. It has all the right elements for a great romance- love, tears, friends and of coarse sex!
This maybe the third book but can be read as a stand alone. I am glad I read the first two though because I love hearing about Raven and Declean and everyone else from the first two books. The story entwines with the other books and continues on. I do hope for a book on Finn. He really deserves a romance of his own!

WOW another brilliant story from Ahren. This Story concentrates on Robbie although the whole gang is still in there at times. Robbie is a tough marine who can survive life the way he wants to (so he thinks) he has no intentions of every needing anyone. Ember has closed herself off after a bad start in life. These two met in earlier in the series so it was good to see how this linked in. As their story develops their characters grow. As always they writing was brilliant, flowing bringing the words from the page. Once again a book you do not want to miss. I think I might love Robbie more than Dec.

Although this is part of a series this book can be read as a standalone. Having said that I recommend you read all these books as its a fantastic series.

Ember and Robbie are two broken characters. Both are emotionally damaged from the past. I love these two characters. Robbie oh Robbie. I just love him! Love how we have two great characters in this story. Added bonus that we get to read about the secondary characters that we've met in previous books.

I seriously can't praise this author or these books highly enough. Definitely a must read. Loved it.

With every book I read by this author I love her books even more.

I think I need to get my shit together and pay attention. I'm missing really important things. I had no clue there would be a 3rd book in this series. Ahren created my other love next to Mason Kade and that would be Declan Collins in #1 & #2 There's just way too many new interesting books out therefore I decided I have to add new shelves, separate my favorite authors I need to stalk and catch up with more of their books! I suppose this needs to get a place on my bumpity~ bump shelf!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and Ahren has done it again! This story pulls you in right from the start! I love all the characters I've missed this group so much so I was over the top excited to have them here once again! Robbie & Ember's story is so emotional and HOT! They have amazing chemistry!

I fell in love with both the book and author. This is a great read and I devoured it. Not only both H and h are lovable, even the secondary characters are great! I wish to have a cousin just like Cruz♥ every girl needs a best friend and a cousin just like him. Robbie Hayes is one hot badass and Ember is pretty inside and out! love them♥

Nicole McCurdy @ Nic's Novel Idea

'Without thinking, I leaned in and kissed along the outer edges.
"Jesus Christ, what are you doing?" His muscles tightened and he clutched the back of my neck.
"I know you may think I'm crazy, and possibly morbid, but this scar has a beauty to it. Now that I know the story behind it, I'm attached to it. To you, it brings bad memories and terrible images, but to me, it's a symbol of bravery, nobility and endurance. I may not have been in a war zone, but I know about survival. My marks are inside, Robbie, but they are still ugly. To me, this isn't ugly. This is a sign of true survival.'

Salvation is the first book in months that had my tear ducts fully operational. There is so much anger, loneliness and despair in Ember but she never lets it taint her character, if anything it enhances her sweetness, vulnerability and ability to love those around her. With those elements she also harbours inside her a strength and resilience that comes to light after the horrors and pain of her past intrudes once more in her life. Robbie is the antithesis of Ember's soft and sweet personality, having survived the horrific experiences of a war zone he has become fairly cynical, brittle and self-contained, it isn't until he realises how perfect Ember actually is for him and the depth of his feeling for her, that we're introduced to a more protective, loyal and sweet n sexy side of Robbie.

The storyline to Salvation had me enthralled from the get go, there's nothing I love more than a story about redemption, hope and love with some scorching and sweaty sex threw in for good measure and with Salvation you get that and so much more. There are some incredibly well written and gripping scenes, particularly the events that young Ember had to endure from her family and none more so than when her world crumbles down around her and she is left to fend for herself. I cried. There. I admit it. I hate crying, detest it and will never willingly do it in front of anyone but Ahren Sanders, Robbie and Ember and a perfectly characterised family of odd balls and eccentrics managed to get me to sob into my kindle. I won't go into details about why or when but just know that there where happy tears and completely devastated ones too.

Ahren has shown again and again the extent and talent of her writing but for me personally, Salvation seems to highlight it and the fact that she has the incredible quality of understanding human emotion like no other, breaking it down, dissecting it and building it all back up again. Sensitive issues are tackled with empathy and integrity rather than glossed over for the sake of entertainment, she has substance and style with her work and it all conspires together to create another masterful story with two fantastic and completely diverse protagonists that have an eclectic mix of wonderful side characters to bring comedy and fun and heart into the mix.

Salvation is well written with a terrific scope of players. It's fun, it's dramatic, clever, sad, inspiring and full of love. It was perfect to me.

4 Disease is Contagious Stars!

Salvation, the third installment in the Surrender series, is a tale about a pair of tortured and scarred souls who find healing and beauty in their union. In true Ahren Sanders fashion, you are treated to a hot, tragic and sweet read.

Ember Lyn Walker leads a simple kind of life revolving around working at her aunt's shop and the occasional outing with her lovable gay cousin. At 23, she's seen and lived through her fair share of all things negative dished out by those meant to love and protect you. Growing up with an emotionally and physically abusive mother and sister, Ember always tried to earn their love and acceptance. She believed things would get better until they got much worse. Having had enough, she left that life behind in search of a new beginning with the help of her aunt and cousin. Dating scarcely, she had a knack for attracting the wrong types of men until the right one walked into her job as well as her life. That fateful day would  forever change the course of their lives.

Robbie Hayes leads a private life. Haunted by the accident that scarred not only his body but soul, the 27 year old former Marine keeps a low profile alongside his close knit family and circle of friends. Letting someone in was the last thing on his mind, until he layed eyes on Ember. How can you share a bed with someone when you can't keep the nightmares at bay? Being around her brought him out of his comfort zone, which at first led him to keep his distance. Refusing to fight the feelings any longer, he set out to infiltrate her life the only way he knows best, by becoming her savior. Little does he know, she might end up saving him along the way.

Robbie and Ember's story is by far my favorite of the series. The characters were well developed and though, in true Ahren fashion, the heat factor was far from lacking, there were plenty of sweet and swoon-worthy moments. With a plethora of characters it can be easy to get distracted from the main story. However, the emphasis on the protagonists in this installment was refreshing. Something that caught my eye was that the chapter titles were taken from within the chapter content. That alone had me gitty with excitement and looking forward to each chapter. Salvation is a great addition to this series and I very much look forward to reading about Finn catching the contagious disease that is love.

Random side note: Aside from loving Finn, I kinda sorta fell for Dade (don't judge me). I have a soft spot for bad guys and would love to get to know him better, perhaps in a novella. Just throwing it out there.

I am not a “chick flick” kind of person and steer clear of all the mushy stuff but I do love bass ass, foul mouth hot guys. Usually its rock stars & bikers for me. Boy, did I almost miss the mark on this book. I am so glad that I gave this book a chance because I have to admit that even though I hate anything that will make me out right cry this book was one of the best that I have read. I say that because anytime an author can pull you into the characters as much as Ahren did and I end up ugly crying toward the end, that she has done a fantastic job writing a book that is well worth your time to sit down & do nothing else but read.

It is about a troubled veteran, Robbie, who is now works with his dad and friends in security and a dress designer, Ember, who had lived through hell from abuse from her own mother and sister. They find each other because of Ember’s job at an upscale dress shop. Robbie has to get fitted for a tux for his sister’s wedding to a rock star. (ok, I did get a little rock star fix) He tries to fight his feelings for Ember to the point of being an ass to her but finally he breaks down and gives his heart a chance at possibly finding love and something that will replace the trauma that he went through while in Afghanistan. You follow their journey of falling in love and being there to help each other heal. Ok, that’s it with the mushy heart felt stuff because this boy knows how to work it in the bedroom. His dirty mouth and actions sure turn Ember on and love and lust become the main theme for this couple. I think the whole thing works so well because Ahren writes a kickass love story for all the mushy people out there and then knows how to through some of the kink in for the harder core people. It’s because of the events that that come about mainly due to her shithead of a sister that throws a wrench into Robbie and Ember’s love. This is where the all-out ugly cry will come in to play.

Seriously though, if you want a great book to read that can take you along for a tremendous ride you definitely need to read this book. This is my first time reading Ahren Sander’s work and I have to say that I am off to read the first two books in this series right now then my rock star quota will be filled once again because it is about Robbie’s sister, Raven and a rocker.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

The story of Ember (Little Star) and Robbie.
Ember has had a rough life. Her mom and sister hated her and did some nasty things, her dad is in prison. But she has a new life now. She works for her aunt in a formalwear shop, and she also designs dresses. When the shop handles the wedding clothes for the "It" band of the time (Sayge), the shop gets all the business it can handle. She lives with her supportive cousin Cruz, and his boyfriend Alex also adores Ember.
When we meet Robbie, we learn he's a war vet that had quite an injury during a mission overseas. He has a recurring nightmare that haunts him almost nightly. But the beautiful woman he meets at the formalwear shop during his sister's wedding event is someone he has to get to know better.
When Robbie walks into the shop out of the blue, Ember is surprised. He's been nothing but rude, standoffish, and of course, why would he want her? Ember's self-esteem is in the toilet!
Salvation is a long, beautiful, sexy book about the ups and downs of getting to a happy ending.
Many times, I was frustrated by both characters. Robbie is a caveman when it comes to beating his chest and snarling (not literally) at any man that looks twice at Ember - including his friends who love to tease him. Ember spends so much time being a doormat, that when she suddenly grows a backbone, I am totally thrown for a loop!
About 3/4 into the book, I felt the story veer off course. The actions of Ember were so out of character, it didn't make sense to me and I frequently rolled my eyes and shook my head.
HOWEVER, I continued on, and the resulting end of the story was beautiful and so satisfying. The author did an awesome job!
This is my first book in this series (this book is #3 in Surrender series), but I never once felt confused. It can definitely be a standalone, but there is no doubt I look forward to Finn's book!
This is a novel-length book (which I don't read often - due to time), and has way more than its fair share of down and dirty sex scenes. After they begin having sex, I don't think there is but a chapter or two in which there isn't a sex scene - so be prepared for that.

Robbie and Ember work their way into a heated frenzy. Ahren is masterful at building tension, characters and orgasms. I was swooning over Robbie long before Ember finally gave herself to him and then cursed him (and Ember) wildly when shit started going crazy. I loved the drama, passion and emotion this book evoked in both me and the characters.

Robbie has demons – he’s a former Marine and he’s seen things he never should have and lost friends in the process. His PTSD and nightmares plague his dreams and his days. When he first sees Ember, it’s like a light is ignited inside him. He doesn’t just date Ember, he courts her. It’s endlessly romantic and the man has restraint of epic proportions. Ember’s pretty, shy, sweet, wholesome and kind, but it’s a wonder she’s any of those things with the terrible upbringing she had. Her mother’s a piece of shit, her sister’s a fucking lunatic, and her dad is still paying for sins that should have long ago been paid. Ember and Robbie build their relationship on trust, so when that trust is shattered, their relationship is tested to the limits.

I loved everything about this book, but I especially loved Robbie. This strong, broken, loyal, devoted man. SIGH. No worries here ladies, the man couldn’t cheat on Ember if he tried…he doesn’t see anyone else once he sees her. Not only do they fuck like rabbits (which they do – oh they do) but they also talk a whole hell of a lot too, which was so nice to read about. Robbie’s words are beautiful, sweet and yea….had me falling for him.

Cruz, Ember’s roommate/cousin/bestfriend, is hilarious and supportive, as are the rest of the supplemental cast. Of course there’s drama, of course there’s hardship, but there’s always family. This book shows us the true test of forgiveness and love – how far it can go, and how much it can heal. I LOVED IT. *throws love and five stars*
