How they went from friends, to lovers, to enemies and started all over again, only doing it right the second time around. Leyla was so sassy, a bit devious, but so kind and loving. She was so perfect for Pierce helping him see that he deserved to be loved. Pierce was moody, and callous at times but underneath that hard exterior is a kind and thoughtful man who just wants to be loved unconditionally. I loved their journey from their difficult pasts, to learning to forgive, trust, and build a forever love together. Burgoa is weaving a beautiful tale about these brothers and their fascinating stories that bring them together to connect, heal and find friendship and family. It made me laugh out loud at times, cry, and swoon. I love all the brothers who are unique in their own way. It is so much fun getting to know them better, watching how they forge brotherly bonds, and their sibling banter is hilarious! There are more secrets that are coming their way and I can't wait to find out more about these sexy Aldridge men and the incredible women who challenge and love them!

This is the third book in the Baker's Creek series and can be read as a standalone but I will say that if you have not visited Baker's Creek please do so! The Aldridge brother are so complex and every book I get more invested in the well being of the family and the well being of the town. We were introduced to Pierce and Leyla in the previous books. I knew that they had a complicated relationship and wanted to know more and boy did this story deliver! Pierce family did grow up in family that showed loved or who was concerned about his well being. Due to this he did not have a desire to have a relationship or a family. Leyla is dealing with a lot of trauma. Her focus is on finishing her internship and get her degree. She has to heal from her trauma before she can think about a relationship or family. Leyla and Pierce meet and it is not love at first sight but there is definitely chemistry there. They come together to care for an injured dog. They build this friendship/friends with benefits relationship. Love creeps up on them in spite of the secrets and their dark pasts. But secrets catch up to them and destroys their relationship. The move to Baker's creek was perfect for them. It gave them a new environment void of toxic family to focus on where they go from there. Pierce behavior was maddening! There was no denying that the two of them loved each other and it was not love they were willing to give up on. I loved this book, I did not want to put it down. There was the perfect blend of emotions. The flow of the story was perfect. It is always a bonus seeing the other Aldridge brothers in these stories! I loved getting the back story to Pierce and Leyla. Learning about their pasts, and their relationship. Reading their beginning was incredible. True love only comes once in a life time. If you let it slip away, you will never feel complete. The depth of these characters never ceases to amaze me. The stupid mistakes some of these brothers made after Carter died are unbelievable. Watching Pierce grow through this book was incredible. I feel like each time I read a new Aldridge brother's book I find a new favorite brother. I can not wait to see what is coming for the rest of the brothers.
