Unlucky Like Us (Like Us Series: Billionaires & Bodyguards Book 12) Kindle Edition
29-year-old Paul Donnelly has been many things in his life. Son of addicts, high school dropout, tattooist, the shameless bodyguard to Beckett Cobalt, the “bodyguard camp counselor” to the rookies of SFO, Loren Hale’s nemesis, and Xander’s wise one.
But nothing means as much without Luna Hale. The sci-fi-loving writer. A weirdo. Sister to his client. The only one he’s fallen for.
To be with Luna, he has to ensure it’s totally, completely, unmistakably safe. That starts with taking care of his family—the family he walked away from as a teenager.
He knows he’ll survive. He can survive anything. But this time, he just wants to survive with her.
Take an epic cosmic journey with Luna & Donnelly through heartache, hope, darkness, love, and an unceasing light—where the bonds we make are what power us through time.

This is a Brother's bodyguard / small age gap / sort of second chance / out of this word love story about 2 people who will fight against the odds to be together.
Luna and Donnelly just want to openly and freely love each other and be together, but, life, parents, crime, danger, emotion, trauma and a host of other issues just wont let them get there. From petty issues to seriously dangerous ones they find themselves always fighting against the current but never giving up. When tragedy strikes it starts to seem that they may never get to be the happy couple.
After the 1st book left us somewhat devastated, this book picked right up and had me sobbing in Chapter one. The Authors did such a good job portraying the emotional turmoil the character is in I felt like I was right there in the room with her. I was instantly on her side, feeling her distress and rooting for her to get her very well deserved happy... Then a twist that, had I been standing, would have brought me to my knees happened and I was gasping, sobbing and maybe cursing a bit!
The emotional journey these authors take you on in this book is incredible. It is so well written, well thought out, detailed (without being boring or drawn out). Its break you down to build you back up kind of fabulous.
As always I have to comment on editing and grammar. Its exceptional. The entire book is just very well written and has no mistakes that distract from being able to dive in and surrender to the world of Luna and Donnelly.
Be forewarned - it is a cliffhanger. But for me nothing raises my excitement level like a truly good cliffhanger.
This definitely needs to be read after Misfits Like Us and I highly recommend reading the rest of the Like Us series in order before as well. I think you could get away with just reading this couples trilogy, but their story starts before their books, so dive into the series.
Ok, I’m just going to go wait for more Lunnelly.

The cliffhanger that the first book in their trio left us on had me both smiling and close to tears. I kid you not, this book picked up perfectly and developed their story beautifully. It’s heartbreaking, emotional, and loving all in one, and I truly couldn’t have asked for more.
Lunelly deserve everything given to them on this earthly world, Thebula, and many more.
Happy Reading!
K&B Ritchie back at it again!!
Let me start with a bugbear brought forward from the previous books: Thatcher. Dude gets shot and loses his spleen, but still somehow remains a 24/7 bodyguard, while running the company (while his supposedly closer than close twin brother, plus his boss, run off to Fiji), with zero recovery time. It's absolute hogwash and reeks of toxic masculinity.
Speaking of toxic, when is this series going to stop with the classism? It was vile when Thatcher, a bonafide combat vet, had to justify his existence to a bunch of spoiled rich kids, enduring nasty hazing to prove he was good enough for a rich white woman.
But how Donnelly, the only other truly poor character in a cast of more rich people is treated in this entire series is just gross. And then the rich people are glorified for it as "protective" and "loving". It's truly disgusting.
I've always enjoyed Loren as a character, but in this part of the series, he's vile. How he speaks to Donnelly and berates him at every opportunity isn't cute or entertaining. It's bigotry and cruel.
And don't get me started on Farrow the Super Doctor. He's barely qualified and has near zero clinical experience, and engages in zero ongoing training. Being a doctor isn't even his full time job, and we're supposed to buy that he's The Best doctor is every single field? Again, not cute or heroic, just utterly laughable.
Literally every plot point in this series makes zero sense.
Why would Thatcher leave Jane's detail two weeks before her due date? When the "threat level" is supposedly so high?
Why is Loren satisfied with Luna's bodyguard being an 18 year old girl with zero experience?
Why did Moffy, so obsessive about safety, leave Ripley alone in a highchair downstairs?
Why "the threat" against Sullivan, the most two dimensional and boring character ever, supposedly so high that someone tried to kill her?
Can someone explain this mess to me?
