Until I Get You

My reputation at Fairview University preceded me. I was the projected number-one pick in the NHL draft and the fan favorite at the rink. People wanted to be me or be with me.

Except for Lyla James Marichal.

She didn't look at me like I was her next meal. She eyed me with disdain.
Instead of vying for my attention, she ignored me and pushed me away.

She was completely unattainable, and I became obsessed with her.

When I finally got her, it felt like I was on top of the world. I was going to help the team win another championship, going into the draft, and had Lyla by my side.

And then, without warning, she left me.

Vanished.

It took me three bitter, angry, long years to find her, but I did, and now she owes me a lot more than just an explanation.

Three years ago, she ruined my life.
Now, I was going to become her worst nightmare.

This was underwhelming. The story started off interesting but ultimately I didn’t feel the connection between the two main love interests. This story is broken down into two parts; the first part is set in the past when the characters are younger; the second half is three years later. The first half is your typical college hockey romance story and the second half is them as adults dealing with the issues presented in the first half.

What was missing for me is the fact that the author kept telling me how deep these people were connected but not really showing that connection. I am not sure if just getting angry at each other all the time is proving how much you love someone. Also I do feel like some parts were missing in the story; one minute she has a dark secret to tell and in the next moment the hero already knows that secret ( which hadn’t been revealed on page).

I will also say I did feel the length of this book, and was quite annoyed as the story progressed. Lots of nothingness until the big showdown with the main villain. There are definitely lots of dark themes but the storyline was all over the place that I couldn’t really follow. Unfortunately this was a miss for me.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

ღ 𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐋 𝐈 𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐘𝐎𝐔 ღ Is a full length sports romance book by author Claire Contreras. Spoken in dual perspectives. HERO: Lachlan Duke HEROINE: Lyla James Marichal

What you'll get:
💋 Obsessed hero
💋 Revenge
💋 Sports romance
💋 Opposites attract
💋 Second chance romance

Lachlan was the hottest man about town, everyone wanted a piece of him especially the girls who unashamedly threw themselves at him. He was on the fast track ticket for the NHL. He meets Lyla at a party and straight away he's captivated by her, the frumpy oversized clothing and the sass that comes quickly, with her unapproachable resting bitch face, he's never met anyone quite like her.

he'd never had to chase anyone before. Until her..He'd chase her to the ends of the earth if he had too.

Lyla has some deep dark baggage, anyone she gets close to could be in danger, only a select few know her secrets, and they too are keeping tight lipped. Death surrounds her.. She's lost so much, and given up so much of herself.

Wowzas! This was like a puzzle, missing pieces not creating the whole story, each chapter or so giving us more details to create the full picture, nothings fully divulged until about the end, it definitely keeps you invested in the storyline.

This had all those mushy feels we readers love to chase, the giggles with these two erupted freely, the feels we’re spontaneous, the twists and turns had my eyes glued to the pages. This was the perfect Easter 🐣 read! Coffee, chocolate and a good book, a girl couldn’t ask for more.

I loved, loved, loved these two!

Until I Get You starts out as a college sports romance, then turns into a romantic suspense/darkish romance. I am not always the biggest romantic suspense fan, but Claire Contreras does it so well. This book hooked me from the start and was impossible to stop listening to.

Lachlan is the star hockey player on his college team and a shoo-in for the NHL. He meets Lyla at a party and is captivated by her. Lyla has a few close friends, but aside from that she keeps to herself and doesn't let anyone in. She never used to be that way, but she's been through a lot and it's changed her. Either way, Lachlan can't keep away from Lyla and eventually wears her down. Just as Lyla thinks things may be able to work, something big happens and has her taking off.

Fast forward three years later and Lachlan has finally found Lyla again. He's not letting her get away this time. I love a good possessive/obsessed hero and that's exactly what Lachlan Duke was. Was it a little over the top at times? Sure. But I didn't even care. I loved how much he loved Lyla. He might have been intense and obsessed but he was also completely devoted to her and I was here for it. I love those 'touch her and die' vibes. Lyla was great too and so strong. They were perfect together even though they had a lot standing in their way.

I love sports romances and I loved that this wasn't your typical sports romance. It went deeper and darker and Claire did a fantastic job with it. It was the perfect blend of angsty, dark, suspenseful, and had me smiling and laughing a few times as well. Lyla goes through a lot and I was rooting for her. I loved watching her come into her own. This one is definitely a must read.

"I took out my phone and Googled how long I'd go to jail if I kidnapped her."

The one and only reason Until I Get You deserves more than a one ⭐️ rating is because Lachlan Duke was a perfect boyfriend. Other than that, unfortunately this book disappointed me and confused me? 🤔

Because when you look at the cover of the book it looks mysteries and dark, right? And it looks like something her stalker would say, the stalker she mentioned in the first chapter. Especially the smoke around the words because apparently her stalker was a heavy smoker and this was something Lyla mentioned as well which will automatically make you think this was definitely about her stalker and that we will get to find him together at the end of the book.

But did we? Lyla barely gave us any clues regarding her stalker, and she never mentioned him enough for us to keep us on our toes. It would have been much better if we had seen the tension throughout the chapters.

However, when we get into the half of the book we realize the cover was about Lachlan, her boyfriend. Not because he had a dark side or anything, but because Lyla changed her entire identity to hide from everyone to save Lachlan, who got himself in dangerous situation because of his relationship with her, and her stalker who had threatened to kill her and the people she loved. And Lachlan promised himself that until he gets her he wasn't gonna stop, but we barely got to see his revengous side because when he found her he turned into a total Golden Retriever boyfriend. So what was the point of all this then?

Anyway, apparently that's where the cover comes from which initially didn't make any sense to me and was confusing throughout the book.

To summarize it all, this book didn't deliver what it promised: suspense, mystery, and dark romance.

And the only thing it delivered in details though was how their eyes spoke a thousand words every time they looked at each other, or how one look meant something special for them and that made them feel all these emotions blah blah blah… Don't even get me started on that!

Lachlan Duke is a college student at Fairview University and one of the best hockey players in the country. His star continues to rise as he's preparing to be drafted to the NHL. It seemed like everyone wanted a piece of him, but the only thing he's passionate about is hockey. Then he attends a random party that turns his world upside down when Lyla James Marichal catches his attention. She was indifferent, unapproachable and completely unimpressed by him, but he was intrigued and wanted to know her. He'd never chased a girl before, but he felt this overwhelming connection he wanted to explore. She affected him and he becomes totally fixated and obsessed with her. He's determined to get her to give him a chance. He's finally found something real, and then loses it in an instant when she disappears. He does everything in his power to find her, and after three years he's angry, bitter, and holds a major grudge. Once he finds her will they get their happy ending, or will he become her worst nightmare and biggest regret?

Until I Get You by Claire Contreras is a standalone, opposites attract, college, sports, second chance romance with dark themes, fabulous banter, humor, emotion, angst, mystery, danger, suspense, and on fire chemistry. It's told in dual POV in two parts. Part one is the past and reads as a college sports romance. It hooked me from the start and was fantastic. Then we get part two that completely consumed me and kept me up till 3am. I could not put this book down. It's my favorite by Claire and definitely in my top reads of 2023. It's one of the most unique stories I've read. I loved both parts so much! I feel like we truly get everything with this book, but what I enjoyed most was discovering the many layers that make up this beautiful complex man. He's cocky, sexy, possessive, and even swoony, but unhinged Lach was absolutely delish! He's all kinds of extra, and I was there for it! <333

no bc i literally do not even know where to start with this review….

i hated it but was amused at the same time 😃 i absolutely hated lachlin or whatever tf his name was. he literally was the most arrogant conceited main character i’ve seen in a while. delilah was kinda a girl boss walking him like a dog during the beginning 💅🏽

the banter was fun, the spice was spicing but the plot was kinda all over the place…

i luv luv luv hockey romance and when i saw this was a “dark” romance i clicked immediately but there was nothing dark about it besides maybe the stalker aspect #beentheredonethat

for a short summary:

lachlin is a man-whore like every other hockey guy but he sees delilah and she’s immediately not interested so of course he peruses her, she has this big dark secret but ofc he doesn’t care and then something happens and she leaves without a trace, 3 years later he tracks her down and goes all psycho on her 🧍🏽‍♀️

i think the only thing that kept me going was marissa (delilah’s bff), i would create a marissa fan page if i could 😝

if you’re bored, want to be a little confused, make a wtf face every few mins this is a good read 👍🏽

quotes:

I took out my phone and Googled how long I’d go to jail if I kidnapped her.

-stalker much? 🧍🏽‍♀️

Her eyes were soft and held a plea that practically screamed, “Save me.”

- puhlease this man had such a savior complex 🚮

Now, I’d have to scour his social media platforms for pictures of them together.

- if there wasn’t another actual stalker in the book i would have thought HE was the stalker 😐

She could have been a green alien and she still would have been the hottest woman to ever have been on top of me.

- when i tell you i was this 🤏🏽close to throwing up i mean it

The confirmation that she’s been getting herself off to the memory of me was worth asking, even if I did want to break the vibrator for taking pleasure from me.

- getting jealous over a sex toy…..🚩🚩🚩

I already created an IG account for Lyla, friend-requested them, and posted two pictures of us together. I’ll have to tell her about the account later, so she can hear it from me and not them.

- imagine creating an insta account for your wife bc you’re THAT jealous and insecure

Had one of the most obsessed, and the most JEALOUS H ever🥹! This guy literally worshipped the h, and he does all the chasing.

The h is stunning, a drop dead gorgeous girl that every guy liked, but she had a personality. You know Wednesday Adam from Adams Family? 😂. This is her. I absolutely loved that for once in a romance novel, the h had a personality. She’s unique and memorable.
And no, being “nice” and being a virgin isn’t having a personality, dear authors.🙄

I also loved the fact that the author decided to tell the story from start to finish, instead of annoying the readers with stupid flash backs.
I repeat, THANK YOU for not using flashbacks/time jumps!😍

Safe.
No virgins.
3yr separation. She left him to keep him safe. He never stopped looking for her.
He was celibate (author confirmed it ). She wasn’t.😂

Spoiler
Before MCs met, H was a huge manwhore. She had a stalker who killed her mom and ex bf, the stalker also raped her.

Cons:
Middle dragged.
Love scenes were kinda meh.

2 stars. I should have just DNFd this one, but kept hoping it would get better.

I have a few issues with this book, the main one being how fucking ridiculous the plot in general was. I CANNOT believe that the heroine and everyone around her was so fucking dumb and that the villain of the story got away with so much. THE WHOLE PREMISE OF THIS BOOK IS RIDICULOUS. It is possibly the laziest storytelling I've read in a looooong time because of all of the plot holes that the author didn't bother to address. I don't even know where to begin to unpack all of the stupidity. I guess I'll just say this: nothing that happened in this book made sense in the country this story was set in (USA). Maybe in some 3rd world country that's totally corrupt - but not in the US. Even with how corrupt and fucked up this country is, things aren't THAT bad.

The whole premise relies on the evil psycho stalker to have all kinds of connections and no one bothering to investigate all of his misdeeds. You're telling me that his police chief buddy is willing to cover up rape, murder, stalking, etc. for him? Fine, even if he was... not a single other officer cared to step forward and oppose him when they saw evidence of foul play? OK, even if they weren't... what about STATE POLICE OR THE FBI? Why for the love of god did NO ONE bother to even try reporting his crimes to a higher agency? Why, when the heroine's mother was killed, did the heroine keep quiet? The car accident would have provided EVIDENCE that could have been used against him. But the heroine keeps quiet and doesn't even bother telling her dad who was supposedly a decent father before her mother's death that night? No, the heroine decides she's better off keeping her mouth shut because she's scared no one would believe her. Once again, I'll play devil's advocate and say that she was too young and dumb to make the right decision at the time. Why then would she have stayed in the same state/area as this man for so many years? This girl was doing college classes online, her family was loaded, she had a trust fund she could use, why didn't she move far away from him after he killed her mom, her boyfriend, and raped her? Why did she stay in the same small town, all while he was continuing to stalk her? She literally had ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES to leave, which was demonstrated by the fact that she graduated (after taking all online classes) and immediately left. That had been her plan anyways. Why does it matter where she took her online classes from? She probably could have easily transferred to get away from him...but instead she stayed put and let him continue to have access to her? MMMkay.

I really have no explanation for that last one...but let me rant about a different aspect of the plot holes... why didn't she ever tell the hero who her rapist stalker was? Why would she have kept it a secret? That part makes NO SENSE AT ALL. If she knew that he could potentially become a victim of this man, why would she have kept the hero in the dark about WHO TO WATCH OUT FOR? All the excuses that the hero would have killed him were BULLSHIT because he should have had that info for his own protection. Of course, the hero not knowing was what set them up for the three year separation, and it's clear the author was too lazy to find a better way to write the story. Makes perfect sense. /s

Additionally, the three year separation (which was just dumb to begin with) was made extra stupid when the heroine took the hero back immediately after he found her. It took her like an hour to agree to marry him, it took her a day to be back in his bed, and it took less than a week to declare their love. WHY WOULD SHE HAVE NEEDED A THREE YEAR SEPARATION ONLY TO JUMP RIGHT INTO HIS ARMS AGAIN IMMEDIATELY? The heroine barely even pushed back against any of the plans to return to her home town, to put their relationship out there, etc. Meanwhile, her whole reason for leaving the hero was to keep him safe...AND YET, NOTHING HAD CHANGED. They had plenty of money while they were in college because both of them had loaded parents. They could have easily hired body guards, used cameras and other recording equipment, installed security systems everywhere, moved away, etc. And yet, none of this was done until the hero comes to find her three years later. SMH. Even her supposedly smart friends, who knew the story (one of them was a lawyer btw), did nothing to try to catch the guy in his misdeeds.

To top all of that off, the heroine was not only the most beautiful, smart, funny, and desired girl for miles around, but she was also so talented that she was able to play professional soccer after barely playing at all for ~5 years. She was asked to kick for the boys football team at their college and did better than anyone else. She was so good at soccer that her college team, two years later, hung a plaque commemorate her. They wanted to always remember her greatness, which they said they still did before every game, even two years later. She was better than professional male soccer players even after those 5 years of not playing on a team and just coaching kids. I just could NOT believe how far the author went with her OTT amazingness. There's being talented and beautiful...and then there's whatever this was. Inhuman maybe? She certainly is not of the same species as the rest of us. I love reading books about strong, talented, self-assured, and beautiful women, but they need to be somewhat based on reality. This just wasn't.

So I'm sorry to my goodreads friends who enjoyed this book...I just didn't at all. Maybe one of you can explain to me how you weren't bothered by all of the plot holes? I remember reading other books by this author and actually enjoying them. Idk what happened with this book, but it didn't even feel like I was reading a book by the same author. If you made it this far, sorry for the rant.

Safe w/ Exceptions:
Heroine not a virgin.
Heroine was probably celibate for the two years before meeting the hero (after her mother and boyfriend died).
Hero was the biggest, most disgusting manwhore possible before meeting the heroine. He only ever did two nights max, always from behind, and never kissed them. But was ok with his mouth going downtown, because somehow only kissing and missionary are considered sacred in this book.
Hero not interested in anyone else after seeing the heroine.
OM/OW drama was mostly just jealousy by both of them.
During separation, heroine had ONE drunken hookup with a coworker and then rebuffed all his advances afterwards. OM continues to pursue her and not take no for an answer to an uncomfortable degree.
Hero's actions during separation were left somewhat ambiguous, he was either celibate or hooked up rarely, however you want to read it.
The heroine believes that he had been with other women during separation and he never corrects her or tells her differently.
No scenes with OM/OW.
No cheating between MCs while they are together.
Read my experts to decide safety for yourself.

TW: Heroine was raped several times in the past, which is recounted, but only partially. There are two instances of near rape in graphic detail. There's also violence, murder, stalking, loss of parent (memories on page)

This story is a dream. The way they love it’s deep and I loved almost everything. I think it has a lot of unnecessary descriptions of clothes, day by day things.
But…

I love it very much when the heroine have so many guys liking her and wants her 😛 Not only the hero🤣 Also i love it very much that the hero, when he saw the heroine for the first time, he immediately went so very possessive over her 🥺❤️ MY KIND OF BOOK!

The story is not boring, the start of the book is very much fast and detailed and not too much of bullsh*t 🤣 If you know what i mean😅

THE STORY is romantic, mysterious, interesting, mysterious, emotional, sad, deception, sweet and young adult love☺️ Even though it start with the couple being a college student and them being young and athletes so they have to go out to parties (but not too much), THEIR RELATIONSHIP is very much safe and romantic tho. Not too childish and definitely not too annoying… cause sometimes in other book a couple who are in college and start their relationship there, there can be conflicts and complications of them being so young so they can do reckless and annoying childish things that made the story more annoying than ever. It’s so hard these days to find a college young adult love story that is safe and not childish😅

THE LOVE STORY about this couple is just incredibly beautiful 🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️ The chemistry between them and their love is just ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐️⭐️
I SAY “AWW” MANY TIMES 🥺

Also you have to be patient and try to enjoy reading this book because it’s a long one. But that’s the best part 🥺❤️

The hero is my favorite character in this book. He loves the heroine so much, like more than anything. I can see it and i can freaking feel it! Like he really needs her like an air to breathe. Like she’s everything he needs. I lost count on how many times he declared and say his love and his obsession to the heroine🥺 Too many! And it’s freakin romantic it made me cried🥺 I want that kind of husband😋

“I don’t know if there’s something that goes beyond love, but whatever it is, that’s what I feel for you.”

Even the beginning of the story is freakin interesting!

THE STORY begins with the hero and heroine in college life. The hero was top of his game and life with his hockey reputation and also with his manwhor3 ways at the time. He was IT guy, every guy likes him and every girl wants him. Then one night he goes to a party, he suddenly saw a beautiful girl on the wall just watching the whole party without even socializing. He was also curious because the girl is wearing a baggy clothes when many girls at the party is wearing tight sexy ones. He get closer to the girl and made a small talk to her. He immediately admits to himself that she is gorgeous woman… Her response was so short to him and doesn’t even know who he is which hurt his ego so much🤣 He became more and more curious with the girl who doesn’t know who he is when every girl at college knows who is like everybody knows. Then he continue to talk to her and he always get the same answer, short ones. She doesn’t even flirt with him or try to talk him even more. Which confuses him even more… Then he named her “goddess and the personality of Wednesday Addams” 🤣 Then one of the heroine’s best friend and also the hero’s friend came over and say hi to both of them. He was handsy the hero said🤣 Then the friend made them shake their hand and introduced themselves. Once their hands touches “her touch sent an odd electric jolt through me” and it made his hand keep her hand longer… That’s when the hero is so curious about the heroine and made him chase her so much… Like chase and keep on chasing her till she finally lets him in 🥺❤️

He then meet the heroine’s best friend slash roommate, the roommate thought he wants her so she asked him to go to her place. He did go but DIDN’T have s3x with her or even do anything sexual with her. Nope. He only goes because he knew that the roommate lives with the heroine so he can know the address of the heroine and want to see the heroine even more 😋😏❤️ The hero only dropped the roommate and promise to pick her up tomorrow to see the heroine again. Then when he picked her up the next day to go to a party, they did go to that and the hero let the roommate sit on his lap which is annoying. But still he never lets her do anything more though… Still it was a annoying move but i will take it as a good note😅 After that the roommate notice the hero only likes the heroine so she suggest him to make his move and give him little insight about the heroine. Soon after the hero really only pursue the heroine ❤️

‼️‼️‼️SAFE ROMANTIC very hot and mysterious thrilling love story. Safe all the way!

‼️‼️‼️TRIGGERS: R*pe and this is from the heroine so it was pretty tragic and sad, death, car accident, murder, hospital, killing, alcohol, high on violence, PTSD and stalker.

‼️‼️‼️DUAL POV

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT.

Both of them and especially the hero can’t stop thinking about wanting the heroine 🥺 the hero Immediately says to the guys who is his teammates to not get closer to the heroine no matter what lol. He claimed the heroine even before she knows anything about him😏 And he do that in front of everyone…

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS
But both are celibate for quite some time and always used condoms with others. They went bare after couple of times and it was a first for them.

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS INSANELY OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE HOCKEY PLAYER BILLIONAIRE ALPHA MALE.
(His father owns a billionaire company and gave it to them his kids so the hero is a billionaire as well). The hero before he meet the heroine, is a total manwhor3 though. But I’m so glad that he and the heroine never ever meet one of his fvck buddy or ex! Only twice a woman touches the hero but that was before him and the heroine is official though😅 But after they were officially together, both never ever meet with any of that ex fvck buddy or ex something…

The hero’s personality is very much like Aiden from Rina Kent twisted kingdom. Seriously. The hero always hard and rough with everybody but so gentle to the heroine. And only her… The heroine is the first girl he ever talked to his mom about. Even before they were official. The hero is very good at hockey, very alpha male in every way and gets angry easily when it comes to the heroine 🥺

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE. The heroine been through a lot like really a lot of traumatic past. She witnessed something she shouldn’t see in her young age and that made her personality very much closed off person. She’s very much an introvert. She doesn’t like to talked to many people and doesn’t like to say a lot even to her best friends… She claimed herself to always feel numb and only the hero who made her feel for the first time in years ❤️
The heroine is well known are very beautiful and gorgeous woman ever. Popular at school and at campus as well cause how beautiful she is. Everybody wants her and everybody adores her even though she’s a mayor daughter. She’s not arrogant and dislike rich things which is odd lol. The heroine even put airplane mode all the time on her phone cause sbe said in that way she can deal people when she wants to which is exactly like me🤣 SHE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY BEER PONG like a freakin PRO!!!! So impressive 😚 Her personality is also known to be sad most of the time and can be selfish too. She’s sassy but not too sassy… She sometimes let the silence takes over the conversation. She’s also in med school and a then doctor and then a pro soccer player! 🤩 Tbh i only liked her like 60% cause of how selfish she can be but because of her sad past i sympathize with her…

The heroine HAVE SO MANY GUYS liking her and tries to flirt with her. So many scenes like that which is amazing! I love that so much!!! I love it when the heroine have many guys liking her like all the time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

(If you have any books recommendation that the heroine have many guys liking her all the time then let me know) 🙏🏼

‼️‼️‼️NO EX GIRLFRIEND AND EX FVCK BUDDY EVER SHOWS UP FROM BOTH OF THEM….

‼️‼️‼️LOCATION: USA

‼️‼️‼️AGE: they’re both are in a young age like bellow 20’s.

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS INSANELY OBSESSED AND WANTS THE HEROINE EXTREMELY SO BAD….

Even when the heroine is mad at him and so hard on him about it, he tries so hard to convince her that he is sorry. He will feel sooo bad if the heroine treat him bad or give him silent treatment 🥺

I lost count on how many times he proclaimed his love and obsession to her cause its many! The hero loves everything about the heroine. Always saying that many times🥺 Her body, her soul, her heart, her eyes, everything. He wants her all the time, every time she dressed up or shows up in whatever clothes she wants, his hard for her immediately and can’t stop. He always say that if he doesn’t have her now then he will die lol. Seriously the hero’s love for the heroine so freakin big❤️❤️

“I don’t say any of this aloud — ever — because I know how insane It'll sound. I fell completely in love with her. What I feel for her now isn’t love. I don’t know what it is, but I know it’s unhealthy as fuck. I also know she’s the only antidote”

“My brain would feel like you’re in one of those mirror things at a carnival, where you see yourself everywhere.”
“Those things are scary,” I say
“I didn’t say it wasn’t scary in there. I’m just saying, all you’d find in there is yourself.”
“And hockey,” I respond.
“Yeah.” He nods in agreement. “But mostly you.”
🥺❤️

“When we finally walk out of his office, he holds my hand and introduces me to everyone on his floor. He does the same on every floor of the building that he visits, including Liam’s.” (His brother).
That so cute of the hero to do that❤️

“Of course, that’s what she’s worried about. I can’t remember the last time I prayed. I gave up on faith a long time ago, but the fact that I got lucky enough to land this woman twice, really makes me question my belief system. know I don’t deserve her. No one does, though, so if someone is going to have her, it’s going to be me.”

“She was perfect for me. If it were up to me, I’d propose tomorrow and lock her down right now. Other guys going pro were excited about the puck bunnies they’d get now, but I was over that life. I’d been there, done that, bought the shirt, and Lyla James burned it. I only wanted her. Of course, proposing was out of the question. I may be ready to get it over with, but I had to respect her decision of wanting to wait” (and this is after they dated for two months which is so romantic of him)

‼️‼️‼️VERY EXTREMELY HOT SMUT SCENES EVER! They do it many times and so freakin hot. Like the hero likes to worship the heroine’s body so much and likes to touch her all the freakin time😏😏😏

“I wanted to take the damn condom off — something I’d never done — and fucking mark her with my seed.”

“When I finally reached her pussy, I paused to admire her. She was fucking perfect.”

‼️‼️‼️IT HAD SEPARATION FOR THREE YEARS. And the reason was pretty reasonable and the heroine thought it was the right thing to do for the hero.

THE HERO WAS CELIBATE AND NEVER EVER GO TO ANYONE ELSE IN THOSE THREE YEARS. NEVER EVER. HE EVEN SACRIFICE A LOT FOR THE HEROINE TO FIND HER AND TO GO AFTER HER WHEN HE FINALLY FOUND HER WHEREABOUTS.
The hero even can’t stop thinking about her during those separation times when he was player pro hockey with his team. Even his teammates knows about it as well.

“but without her, I felt like I was dying a slow death anyway, so what’s the point? Hockey went from being an escape to becoming a burden. Each time I scored, she was all I could think about. Each time my skates hit the ice became a reminder that it was another moment without her, so I hung them up. I don’t regret it at all.”

But the heroine annoyingly and unfortunately have s3x with her coworker one time though. And that also made me doesn’t like the heroine. Like what the fvck author?! 😅 you make the hero celibate and never ever have s3x or even have another woman beside him in those three years separation but you made the heroine do that? 💀 So annoying as fvck🙄🙄

Also she didn’t confessed to the hero about it which is odd💀 this situation makes me want to give it 4 stars instead but because i love their love story and the hero’s amazing love for her, i give it 5 stars. And that made me doesn’t love the heroine so much😂

‼️‼️‼️SOOOO MANY. MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO THAT I LOST COUNT 😏😏😏 I LOVE IT! But i never thought it would be that many 🤣 SO MANY!
Even in the beginning of the relationship, the hero went all possessive towards the heroine like no other! And throughout the book the hero is always like that. So so jealous even to little things that involved the heroine😆❤️

“She was leaving. Where? With who? I gripped the book tighter, wishing it was her hand. Her waist. Her throat.”

“She’s off the table, because i said so. Lyla is off the table unless you want to lose your fingers. I’m not fucking around.” (And this is even before they were dating and the hero already claimed the heroine in front of everyone)

“If one of you touches her, I will kill you. If you flirt with her, I will kill you, Don’t look at her. Don’t talk to her. Don’t even fucking think about her.”

“But instead of focusing on them, I’m brooding over this picture. I’ve taken ownership of a smile, and now I’m jealous of a fucking child for taking it.”

“He winks. If she notices, it doesn’t show. Who the fuck is this guy? When she turns around and leads his daughter to the field, he blatantly checks her out. I snap a picture of him and send it to Liam.
Me: who is this?
Liam: we can’t use facial recognition on every guy who talks to Lyla. fucking ask her who it is
Me: i need you to find out who he is and hack into his phone and delete his pictures
Can you do what I’m asking? This guy’s a creep. He has too many pictures of her on his phone. It’s disturbing.”

(When a younger guy tries to flirt with the heroine)
“That doesn’t work on me. And two, I have too much baggage that I would never dump on you.”
“And three, she’s taken,” Lach says behind me. 😆

“All I could do was think about that little fucker Barlow. I didn’t even take his picture. I know he’s not a threat, but seeing her laugh with him was too much for me.”

“You can’t just scare off every man who comes near me.
“No? Watch me.”

“Marissa: Coop asked ab you
Me: what’d you tell him?
Marissa: that you had a fam emergency and went oot
Marissa: i think he’s going to ask you out when you get back
Lachlan signals for me to hand the phone to him. I look up with a frown but hand it to him anyway, because I’m curious to see what he’s going to do next.
Me: mar, it’s lachlan, do me a favor and tell him to go fuck himself
Marissa: LMAO i can’t do that
Me: tell him she got back together with her ex and that he proposed and they got married right away and she’s very very very happy. tell that shit head wade the same thing. and whoever else I didn’t meet and wants to fuck lyla.”
🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😆❤️❤️❤️❤️

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HEROINE FOR COUPLE OF TIMES BUT NOT TOO ANNOYING AND NOT TOO MUCH….

The hero never ever push the heroine away….

‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH STALKER, family and friends. No drama with OW. Only with OM but not too annoying tho… And not too much… other drama is about themselves 😅

‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING.

Married and pregnant ❤️

Still very much in love and going strong as they should be ❤️

Until I Get You starts as your typical college sports romance, but eventually turns into something more suspenseful and maybe a bit dark(ish). I am not always the biggest dark romance fan, but this book was just enough for me and I was hooked.

Lachlan is the star hockey player on his college team. He meets Lyla at a party and is captivated by her. Lyla keeps to herself and, apart from a couple of close friends, doesn't let anyone in. She hasn’t always been this way, but she's been through a lot, and it's changed her. Lachlan can't stay away from her and eventually wears her down. Just as Lyla thinks they’ll be able to work, something happens that has her running.

Fast forward three years, and Lachlan has finally found Lyla again, and he's not letting her get away this time.

Lachlan Duke is the epitome of a jealous-possessive-obsessed hero, which isn't always my favourite trope. I always find it a bit cringe. Still, for me, his devotion to her saved him, even if it was a bit over the top at times.

Lyla was so strong but heavy on the I’m not like other girls and everybody loves me vibes. But her and Lachlan were perfect together even with so much in their way. Their chemistry was hot, and that made for some excellent spice.

I love sports romances, and I loved that this wasn't your typical story for the trope. It went deeper, and the author did a fantastic job with it. It was a great blend of angsty and suspenseful, and it had me smiling and teary-eyed a couple of times too.

Lyla goes through a lot, I was rooting for her and enjoyed seeing her come into her own. It’s worth checking the content warnings for this book. There’s rape/SA and the death of a parent.

Overall, it was a great read, a bit cheesy at times, but I couldn't put it down.

You can only truly break someone once. Everything after that is just chipping at pieces.

Did I like this book? Yes. Did it still take me over 2 weeks to read it? Also yes. Do with that what you will.
There’s nothing more overwhelming than being consumed by Lachlan Duke.

Only thing I love more than a hockey romance is a second chance hockey romance. Until I Get You gives us both. Delilah and Lachlan first meet in college. She's the unapproachable girl and he's the guy with a revolving door of hookups. Opposites really attract because when Lachlan lays eyes on her, he's immediately obsessed. I loved the bad boy reform trope here. I also loved the mysterious aura of Delilah. You know something terrible happened to her to turn her from the popular sports star to hermit and you turn each page just waiting for that other shoe to drop,

I've seen some reviews say this is dark. It's not. What it does have is a dark subject matter with a vein of suspense. While I did enjoy it, I also found myself easily distracted, so I can't say I loved it. Having said that, it still hit the spot.

This book was weird. It calls itself “dark,” but it’s not, really, it’s more just an angsty New Adult book that has an unusually obsessive / possessive hero.

The plot: Lachlan and Lyla (both 22) meet during their last year of college and fall in love. She’s got a stalker who has murdered some of her other loved ones. Lachlan is a hockey star. He’s a typical jock / player who never sleeps with the same girl twice….until he suddenly becomes obsessed with Lyla. When her stalker attacks them, Lyla runs away and changes her name, in an attempt to give Lachlan a normal life where he doesn’t have to worry about her stalker trying to kill him.

Part 2 jumps a few years later, to when they're 25. After Lachlan has a short pro hockey career, he goes to stalk Lyla and make her marry him. (So, Lyla has 2 stalkers. 1 evil one who is the villain, and 1 good one who is the hero. If that sounds a bit silly, yes!!). He’s mad at her for running away (and it doesn’t seem like he’s been with other women during their 3 year separation), so there's a lot of Angst between them.

What I liked about this book was that it DID try to do something interesting with Lachlan. Often in dark romance, the guy is obsessive / possessive from the start. Instead, this book made Lachlan evolve from being a seemingly normal guy to being a dark romance hero. (Or at least, being unhinged and obsessive / possessive. He doesn't really do much "dark" stuff besides stalk her). It’s a good idea. I’m not sure that it quite worked. But he was the best part of this book.

He was still a little bland. But, his thought process was often funny – like, I took out my phone and Googled how long I’d go to jail if I kidnapped her.

But, I found myself struggling to stay interested. It was too long with too many mundane scenes that should have been cut. I managed to not DNF just because Lachlan was kind of fun, and I wanted to find out how this would become "dark." I was waiting for the other shoe to drop with Lachlan, but that didn't amount to much. At first I thought maybe this could have the vibe of Torment: Part One, in terms having a tense and slow-lead up to the hero becoming increasingly deranged. But no, not really! This was just....slow.

As for Lyla, she was a bit boring. And I don't need heroines to always make perfect choices, but she made too many stupid ones. She'd been through a lot of trauma, but she also kind of had a martyr / victim complex. So much of this book didn’t need to happen if only she had TOLD Lachlan who her stalker was! (It also doesn't make sense why she stuck around town for college and didn't leave sooner to get away from her stalker). The whole stalker plot line had too many gaps in logic. It was also very obvious who the villain was even though this book tried to make it a mystery.

Lyla also does things like go to a party KNOWING that she will be running from the villain. But later, when he’s chasing her, she’s like “I’m wearing heels, so it’s hard to run away.” Why did she wear heels if she knew this was going to happen?!! This girl makes aggravating choices.

Anyway, this author had an interesting idea to try to do a book that slowly progress from being a normal New Adult angsty college book, to being a dark romance. It just didn’t really work. A lot of New Adult books have things like stalkers and heroines with traumatic pasts, anyway. So, it really was just a standard New Adult book, with a hero who was mildly more unhinged than usual. But it gets more than 2 stars for Lachlan, since he was entertaining.

I have been seeing this book hyped all over Bookstagram, Booktok, and all of my reader groups, and for once they didn't let me down. I absolutely loved this book! From the start it captivated me and kept be completely interested. Lachlan and Lyla (love the alliteration) meet at a party, and she's less than impressed. Lachlan is the university's star hockey player, used to adoration and puck bunnies, but not overly obnoxious about it. At 22, he's slowing down and learning to appreciate the silence. Lyla has no clue who he is, and better yet, doesn't care. She's dressed to unimpress, doesn't blink an eye when he gives her his pretty smile, and doesn't think twice before walking away. Hook, line, sinker. He's obsessed. But when he finally gets the girl, it doesn't last. Her past catches up to them both and rips them apart.

Three years later, Lachlan is retiring from the NHL with a singular thought in his mind. Find the girl, get the girl, make her pay. Three years ago she ran away, leaving him physically and emotionally battered, and he's never once stopped thinking about her. When he finally tracks her down he discovers that she's changed her name and started a new life without him. This won't do. He convinces her to sign a marriage contract by holding the past over her head and he lets every ounce of vitriol spew at her. But when he realizes just how much of the past wasn't her fault or her doing, he scrambles to unfuck this situation. Because they still love each other, and he'll do anything to save her so that they can finally be together.

So yes, some parts were a bit overdone, like his 180 from loving her and being worried about her to hating her and wanting to make her miserable. It was sort of explained, and hey, we didn't really have a cohesive book without it, so whatevs. What I really loved was Lachlan's OTT possessive jealousy because the way it was written was just funny and relatable. I actually loved Lyla, she was equal parts touch and tender, and I feel like she was such a great example of a battered female who rose from the ashes. Special shout out to her two best friends who are the epitome of ride or die. I loved Marissa and Prescott! And the ending was so special to me. So yes, this was such a great read, I had an awesome time with these two crazy kids!

Don’t call me to lecture me on my gray fucking morals. It’s her fault I’m like this.”

This book was insanely good! It has romance, humour, witt, darkness and is full of angst. Take the trigger warnings seriously though because some scenes are graphic. I was obsessed with the story from start to finish. The way Lachlan chased Lyla and broke down her walls in the beginning was interesting to see. However I enjoyed the second half much more. All the characters were captivating. I adored Lyla and the things she went through alone were literally so heartbreaking. Lachlan was right about her smiles, those were rare but whenever she laughed, I felt so happy! Lachlan was the only person who could make her feel safe and protected and she was his everything, it's why their pair worked so much. Overall, the book has a gritty storyline and the characters will keep you interested. I wasn't feeling some of the books that the author released before this but this book was one hell of a comeback! It was nothing new but still a banger ;-p

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: sports romance, romantic suspense
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

I seriously loved this book! Until I Get You is the story of Lachlan and Lyla who are both college students. Lachlan is super popular and riding high when he meets Lyla who completely rebuffs his advances. But he's persistent and eventually Lyla caves and they fall in love despite Lyla's insistence they keep their relationship secret. She has a terrible secret she's afraid to tell him, but on the day she's supposed to tell him, Lyla disappears. Lachlan's life falls apart, but he's relentless in his pursuit and eventually finds her 3 years later, seemingly living her best life. And that's when things get interesting.

"𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶."

It went from a super sweet, but kind of stalker-y romance, to a tension filled emotional rollercoaster rid, to a nail biting thriller by the end, lol. Super intense. Kinda darkish. Until I Get You is well written, fast paced, and a storyline that just kept on giving. Lachlan wonderful. He's completely all in from the first meet and OBSESSED with his girl, his antics will have you laughing out loud. Lyla is really just trying her best to hold it all together and can't quite understand Lachlan's fascination with her especially with everything she does to try to dissuade him. She has tons of trauma that she's holding in the story is just gut-wrenching in spots. The chemistry between the two of them is fantastic and you totally become invested in their happy ended. Just a fantastic read!

this is a long-ass book and I've been loosing braincells the more I've read it 🙈👉👈

I'll try to organise my review in two parts, the first one being spoiler free, and the second filled with all the spoilers, all the tea and my pissed off ramblings, so stay tuned for the juicy part 😂💪

The cover, blurb and tags fooled me: this is NOT a dark romance, but rather a romance that deals with dark subjects. Plus, for some godforsaken reason I thought this would feature an obsessive hero, but his obsession ran almost skin deep and was very... underwhelming 😅 it mostly set in a small town, but this is NOT a small town romance 🫣 now that this confusing description is out of the way, let's continue to what this book is actually about:

- Part 1 is set in the past and it's your typical college hockey romance with sliiiiightly more darkness than normal;

- Part 2 is set in the present and deals with them three years after part 1, being approximately 25 years old;

- I enjoyed part 1 😛 it was clichéd "he fucked women without getting attached to them, until he got attached to HER" and "she was mysteriously closed off to the world until she opened up to HIM". Listen... I know it's a walking cliché, but they exist for a reason and IN MY EYES the author did a great job at establishing a connection between them. Even though everything happened sooo fast 😅

- part 2 was horrible! 😭🤡 It's like the author did a complete 180 or pushed the book to another author, but everything felt...off. the heros started to make no sense, their actions and reactions pissed me off and the connection they had in part 1 vanished and couldn't be replicated 🤷🏼‍♀️🤬

- the author's note states that this "hero" is her favourite of her's till this day, so I'm worried what her other heros are like. Not that this one was so bad i wanted to kill him, but he was rather....eh? Meh? Whatever 🤣
.
.
.
.
📣NOW ONTO PART 2: SPOILERS, TRIGGER WARNINGS AND CRAZY RANT AHEAD! 📣
.
.
.
As the book progressed, we found out that the heroine's godfather drugged her when she was 14, raped her, continued to do it numerous times until she didn't drink the spiked drink and was conscious during the rape and fought him off. Years later he did it again when she was in college, her mother witnessed it, the h and her mother tried to ran away in their car, he chased them off, the mother died. Heroine confessed to her best friend and sort of boyfriend, he went to confront the rapist and next day the heroine finds her (boy)friend shot and police rules it a suicide. The heroine shuts down and doesn't do anything to punish the rapist, because he's a big deal in their small town and the police chief is related to him.

So this is where it gets confusing for me. I get corruption and going against the big guy, but the heroine's father is the FREAKING MAYOR OF THAT TOWN! Plus he's rich! AS FUCK! why the hell didn't she tell him, that his best friend was raping her for almost a decade? And responsible for HER MOTHER'S DEATH? 👁️👄👁️ And it's not like her father was an abusive monster who participated. No, he was a bit absent, a bit selfish, but he could've solved this problem IN NO TIME! 🤬🤬🤬

But okay, let's say she didn't think about it (in the numerous years since the rape 🤷🏼‍♀️). She could've transferred to any other university in any other town/city, where the rapist godfather/college hockey coach couldn't follow her. Or if he did, he wouldn't have the police in his pocket there, so she would have arrest him once and for all. Sure, you could say she had no money to do it, but she still had no money to do it later, and yet she ran away and took loans to go to medical school.

Speaking of medical school... In part 1, the heroine got accepted into 3 different medical schools, but she didn't decide where she would go. She was dating the hero at that time, so I assume, since they talked about everything, she at least mentioned this 3 colleges? Plus, the rapist godfather/college hockey coach could EASILY get access to this information also. So, end of part 1, the heroine leaves the hero "to save him", applies to one of these 3 medical schools and moves to a nearby town, changes her name from Lyla to Delilah 🤡 Duke (the hero's family name) Guzman (her mother's maiden name) and neither the hero, nor the rapist, WHO BOTH SEARCHED FOR HER EXCESSIVELY AND EVEN HIRED SOME PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR couldn't locate her for 3 years! 🤡🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣

Now onto the 3 years bull$hit: end of part 1 hero is left by the heroine. His absentee father (who HAPPENS to be the billionaire CEO of a tech company, that has government surveillance contracts) wants to make amends with the hero, since the father is sick or about to die, bullies him into signing the contract that the hero will work at his company. Now the hero wants to play hockey professionally, but also wants to find the heroine. In his mind, the ONLY WAY TO FIND HER is to use his father's firm from within while working there (because for SOME reason unknown he couldn't just ask his father for help), but he wanted to play hockey first 👑😭 so he asked the father to change the contract that he would play hockey for three years and then go work for him. I REPEAT: THE HERO COULD'VE FOUND THE HEROINE STRAIGHT AWAY, BUT CHOSE TO PLAY HOCKEY INSTEAD 🔥🔥😹😹😅😹

Hero finally finds her, is somehow angry at her for leaving, even though she told him about the rape, the danger, the need to keep their relationship a secret (which the IDIOT didn't do), has plans for revenge against THE HEROINE for some weird ass reason, wants to deduce somehow who hurt her all those years ago INSTEAD OF ASKING... And then does another 180 after they have $ex🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣

Plus, i hated the fact that the heroine was the one assaulted in the end by her rapist godfather/ college hockey coach and almost raped, and yet SHE HAD TO TEND TO THE HERO'S PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL WOUNDS 🤡 AFTER HE BEAT UP THE RAPIST AND WANTED TO KILL HIM 🤮🤮🤮

This was too long, too convoluted and stupid at the end.

"I was going to find her, and when I did, she would wish she hadn't run from me."

Lachlan Duke is that womanizer hockey god on campus. Every girl he wants he gets and then leaves the next morning. But everything changes when he meets Lyla James. Gives no fucks, badass, former football player Lyla James. " I would have Lyla James or die trying."

The only problem is that Lyla has a big secret that changes everything. She keeps everyone at arms length and if she lets you in, she lets you in with her whole heart.

So what happens when the past comes back to haunt her? There is nothing that would stop Lachlan Duke from getting her back, even if he has to drag her back.

"I'm not going to lie and say seeing her didn't make a difference, because the moment her eyes met mine, I felt like I always used to - watching the hockey puck in suspense."

I loved this so much! The collab between Hockey Romance and Dark Romance and Second Chance it was amazing!!
Lyla is such a badass, I love her so much!
Lachlan, omg Lachlan, so hot! The obsessiveness, the protectiveness... *chef's kiss*

"She was made for me. For me. No one else."

Tropes:
- Hockey Romance
- Second Chance Romance
- 3 Year Time Jump
- Chasing
- Touch her and I'll kill you
- Possessive MMC
- History of SA

“I’m always numb unless you’re around. You make me feel.”

Lyla and Lachlan’s story is an emotional rollercoaster to say the very least. Lachlan is the guy who can love them and leave them, Lyla is the girl who is closed off for… reasons. These are not two people you think are going to have an instant draw to one another, and yet. Lachlan gives boy obsessed/falls first a new meaning. This man is smitten for Lyla even though she doesn’t plan to give him the time of day. Clearly this is a romance, so it doesn’t quite go as she plans, but alas. This book, while emotional and sweet when it comes to their love also has some heavy/dark themes that it explores. I was on the edge of my seat towards the middle and end of this story for multiple reasons. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’m pretty much leaving it at that, but know that this one gets intense and covers dark topics.

All in all this was a great read. I loved Lachlan and Lyla’s story no matter how bumpy it was and I actually fell for many of the side characters. I’m kind of hoping we get some more in this world. I feel like the author set it up so it could happen even if this one stands alone fully.

Until I Get You sits firmly in the top two favorite Claire books. Lachlan ties Cole for me, and you have to know that serious that is if you know me.

It had the suspense I love, darker elements, and Claire upped the steam game. The chemistry was electric.

I will notE that while I enjoyed both narrators, when the heroine did the angry dialogue…well, I wasn’t a fan, but she was wonderful otherwise.

Until I Get You is a new release I’ve heard nothing but good things for, I heard it was a dark romance with a hockey hero, second chance, and romantic suspense. And honestly this reading experience had me questioning if I even read the same book as others, cause this was not what I was expecting.

We first meet Lyla and Lachlan when they’re in college, they meet at a sorority party where she’s bored and doesn’t know who he is. Apparently he’s a big deal on campus as a hockey star and he can’t believe she doesn’t know who he is. He ends up falling right away and wants to know more about her/have her in his life. Lyla was a soccer player and has changed her look/personality recently because of some events in her past which we find out about as the story unfolds. We then jump to part 2 of the story (35% in) which takes us to 3 years later, after Lachlan and Lyla had split. A marriage contract comes about to help his get his inheritance.

I just thought the romance was going to be dark and have a stalker/obsessive hero, and that just isn’t what the book is. It’s dark-ish I suppose because of the heroine’s past. I also didn’t put it together before starting this that I had read a handful of books from this author before that hadn’t worked for me either. I didn’t like that we get told about their connection more than we get to see it. I don’t know, this just was underwhelming and not what I expected it to be. The audio is on hoopla though and it’s narrated by Joe Arden and Kasha Kensington which helped.

Ok the first half of this book had me HOOOOOOKED.

Like a hockey super star obsessed playboy who finds kissing too intimate so he never kisses hook ups until he meets her and then ALLLL he can think about is kissing her. Lachlan had me FERALLLL.

I like dark romances and I like sports romances, but combine the two and I wasn’t sure what to think, but ok. Here for this.

From the moment Lachlan sees Lyla he is obsessed.

Lachlan is the star of the hockey team preparing for the draft, and Lyla is the reserved unattainable girl who has been through something traumatic in her past that has caused her to put up all these walls.

As we make our way through the book details begin to be unveiled about what happened to Lyla with an influential figure in her world that has her scared to be with anyone else for the fear of them getting hurt.

After an incident occurs that leaves both Lyla and Lachlan hurt, Lyla decides to remove herself from Lach’s life to keep him safe.

The middle of this book did slow down and drag on a bit as we transition to a few years later, but then it picks up as the details are unveiled!

The spice in this book is next level…..🥵 I am obsessed with Lach’s obsession and Lyla is strong AF!
