Publisher Description

“Barefoot Ken Bob is The Master. Long before anyone else was even talking about barefoot running, he was perfecting the art . . . Now, after twenty years of teaching, experimenting, and “merry marathoning” (as he calls it), the first and best source of barefoot-running knowledge is bringing his ideas to print. And it’s about time.” —Christopher McDougall, author of Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Super Athletes, and The Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

“Ken Bob Saxton, a pioneer of the modern barefoot running movement, has logged more miles in his birthday shoes than just about anyone I know, and he has helped countless people run barefoot. As one would expect, this delightful book, full of wit and wisdom, is an invaluable guide for anyone who wants to run barefoot, avoid injury, and have fun.” —Daniel E. Lieberman, professor of Human Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University

"This is a wonderful guide from the Godfather of barefoot running!" —Irene Davis, Ph.D., director of Spaulding National Running Center, Harvard Medical School

Easy does it!

Excellent book packed with helpful information. I have just started barefoot running. Actually, I bought a pair of minimalist shoes when picking up my race packet for a half marathon last October. Fascinated by the feel of no heel lifts, I thought I'd go for a short four mile run the evening before the race. I made it one mile before both achilles became so painful I could hardly walk home! It was two weeks before I could walk without pain! I was still convinced that barefoot running was what I wanted to do. It became onvious that I had to learn how to run all over. I began reading everything I could get my hands on regarding the subject. Because of our cold winters I have run barefoot in place in my basement working up to one hour. I have used minimalist shoes when venturing outside and actually ran barefoot outside today at 30 degrees. I ran five miles in minimalist shoes and one mile barefoot. I understand why BKB says start barefoot and then use shoes if you must. I plan to continue building my endurance and strength. My goal is to run totally barefoot. This book has been a treasury of sound advice and inspiration!!! BLB, let me know when you come back to Michigan. I want to learn more from the master of barefoot running. Run barefoot and prosper!

The Barefoot Running Bible

This book was very well written. Ken Bob has the heart of a teacher and is truly a gifted writer. I appreciated how educational and extensive the content was in this book and the manner in which it was presented. This is a "must have" for barefoot enthusiasts at any level, aspiring barefoot runners, and interestingly enough, for shod runners who want to get to the next level in their performance.
