"Sophie is a ray of sunshine on my dark, stormy days, and she has no idea I use my asshole ways to hide behind my true feelings."
"You have the best heart, Mason Holt. Even if you shieled it, even when you push people away, even if you think otherwise."
"Sophie Corrigan has brought me back to life, breathed meaning into my soul, and has given me hope."
What I didn't like in this book is that even though the previous one ends with a cliffhanger (as does this one) we don’t get to see what happens to Mason and Sophie after the incident until 50%... I know that we needed more information about their past and I don’t know how it could be written differently but I wanted to know what happened to Mason.
SPOILERS AHEAD! DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE PREVIOUS BOOK!
Mason murdered Weston, we know that from the previous book. I know it was self defense and that he had to do it in order to save himself and his friends. Yet, we don’t get to see him have some kind of remorse or be under shock. Is it just me or is this unnatural? How can someone be so calm after he kills a person?🤔
My heart breaks for Sophie and everyone out there that is a victim of domestic violence. There were some scenes that made me close my eyes for some seconds so I could continue reading and I hoped that both she and Mason would find their HEA. 💔
"Don't confuse me with a saint. I'm a sinner."But there's a reason for Mason's push and pull with Sophie, and it's a heartbreaking one. Mason has a lot of demons, demons that have made him close off his heart to love, make him think he's unworthy of it. All because of one truly tragic event in his past that he keeps secret. Unfortunately, it's a secret he doesn't share with Sophie until far, far too late. Their timing was atrocious throughout Truly Mine, and they never quite got it right til very near the end, right before the horrible cliffhanger. That's right, a doozy of a cliffhanger, that is almost too much for this reader to bear!
