Lori Tchen was born and raised in the Texas hill country where shaking out one’s shoes for scorpions was part of the daily norm. She writes fiction in the evenings, her highly prized downtime outside of work while raising her two sons.

Lori’s career began in criminology, working deep nights in a detention facility, then investigating crimes as a Texas State Enforcement Agent. After observing the underbelly of society, her fantasy stories allow her and her readers to escape into imagined worlds and inspire bravery in children (and adults alike) to face some of life’s evil characters.

This is a powerful story of destiny, and how sometimes you have to turn your back on your destiny to do what you know is right.

Sterling Fierce is a witch hunter and his destiny is to seek out and destroy dark witches. When he is given the task of saving Evenna, a young light witch, he struggles to keep his blood magic under control and not harm the witch as they travel together on their long journey. Plus, she’s beautiful, and that adds to his struggle to stay on track. They both must learn to trust in each other or they might not survive the dangerous journey.

Evenna is an interesting new character and I enjoyed seeing her growth on the long journey. The story has lots of imaginative world building, such as the dangerous swamp, the Elven castle and the Queen, the enchanted road, and the magical creatures they encountered along the way. I also loved meeting Premadora, a type of fairy, and I hope to see more of her, perhaps in the next book? I can’t wait for the third and final installment of this delightful series.
