Fantastic Pre-war era guitar strings.

I have just finished a rebuild on an 1904 George Bauer Parlor guitar. I am very pleased, the tone of the guitar with these strings (KR116) has a remarkable similarity to Robert Johnson's sound. I know that is a bold comparison, but I honestly believe that. The strings feel solid and unique compared to standard nylon, roundwound, and flatwound strings. They feel like a combination of all three. They are not high tension which allows a little peace of mind with a 117 year old guitar. I highly recommend this set if you are looking for period authentic string to the pre-war era guitars.

A most incredible string

I was given a set of these strings by Nato Lima (of Los Indios Tabajaras) back in 1995. He said, "Try these--you will get much better results." Man, he wasn't kidding! The guitar in question wasn't a classical guitar per se, but a Brazilian made Del Vecchio resonator guitar, which usually took silk & steel strings. I bought this guitar while on tour of Brazil with Bill Haley, and when we were in Sao Paolo back in 1975. I had always used the recommended silk & steel strings for 20 years...until I was introduced to the Thomastik Classic S rope core strings. There is no better string for the Del Vecchio resonator guitar, which would be considered a "semi-classical" guitar, and which has been a mainstay instrument for Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, and of course, Nato Lima, and used on a number of their albums. These strings have a sound and tone which is UNSURPASSED!

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around these strings

I put these strings on an electric. They bring the fingerpicking nuance of nylon to the magnetic pick up, which is exactly what I'm looking for. (I'm not sure how they'd work with a pick.) So far, they seem to suffer minimal wear during play (unlike my nylon strings, where I feel like the 4th string dies within a couple weeks). On the other hand, they cost a fortune. I'm going to keep working with these for a while now. So far, they're great.

Hands down, the best guitar strings for bowing

I use these strings for my Dilruba, and they are, by far, the best - the tension is light, the sound is sweet and deep and they hold their tuning.

Well worth the price!

I researched a lot before pulling the trigger on a $44 set of strings for my Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE.
The rope core strings are amazing AND last a long time which helps balance the cost IMO.
I can always depend on Sweetwater folks going the extra mile to assist with the decision making process.
