Lily Connor has focused all her energy into becoming a successful wedding planner, and after five years, she’s on the precipice of taking on more responsibility at Southerland Wedding Company. When the chance finally presents itself, it comes with a complication she couldn’t have dreamt up in her worst nightmares. With the bride and groom away for a month, Lily needs to work with the bride’s best friend, Bennett Burke, a woman she never thought she’d see again.

It was only for a few months, a study abroad experience that felt plucked from those same dreams turned nightmares, but Bennett is back, and Lily wants nothing to do with her. Bennett broke her heart the first time, and Lily swore she’d never let something like that happen again.

Working together can’t be avoided, but falling in love? Lily needs to stop that at all costs, even if it comes at the sake of her own happiness.

Absolutely love this book. Such a cute love story, young lovers reconnecting as adults in an unexpected way. Highly recommend

This is my first book from Monica but it certainly won't be my last. The title perfectly fits with the way she tells this story flipping from the past when Lily and Bennett met and fell in love while studying abroad in college to the present where they meet up again six years later where Lily was the wedding coordinator and Bennett the maid of honor of a high society wedding.

I think choosing this style of writing really paid off because the author was able to give the reader much background information along with the present day details. Her pacing of these timelines was perfect. Both young ladies were relatable characters who came from such different backgrounds, one warm and accepting, while the other cold with expectations that couldn't be accepted. No matter the obstacles, they each had to grow up and commit to the "now!". Now and Then is truly a wonderful book written by a very talented author whom I heartily recommend!

"Then & Now" is an amazing second-chance romance I enjoyed very much.

Lily and Bennett meet when they study abroad and fall in love, but Bennett breaks Lily's heart.
Years later they meet again and are forced to work together and Lily wants nothing to do with Bennett.

The chapters alternate between the past and the present. I liked that a lot because you experience two stories at once, the one were the younger versions of Lily and Bennett meet and fall in love and the one of their older versions in the present.
Lily and Bennett were great characters with an amazing chemistry.
I loved them both and wanted them to get together again.
The conflict felt authentic and it was believable that Bennett was sincerely sorry and she showed it, too. I also liked that Lily didn't forgive her right away since she grew a lot since the first time they met and she learned to know her worth.
Nora, Sasha and Lily's parents were a great additional cast of characters.
Highly recommended!

Monica McCallan is hands down one of my favorite authors. Her character development is off the charts. You just fall in love with her main characters and cheer for them so hard! This book does not disappoint. 5 stars from start to finish!

If you are a Monica McCallan fan, you will absolutely NOT be disappointed, and if you're not a Monica McCallan fan (yet) you should be, and definitely WILL be by the end of this book. It's a story about meeting the right person at the wrong time, and how a few years of growing up can make all the difference. Fall in love with Lily and Bennett as they navigate coming to terms with their feelings for each other and what that means for their futures. The way the story goes between the past and the present to tell Lily and Bennett's story then and now is super creative and hooks you immediately, making it impossible to put down. This is another amazing love story written in true Monica McCallan style that you will want to read again and again.

This is an excellent book if you’re looking for an old flames story. I’ve never read one where both timelines were told at the same time. I absolutely loved it although I think it made the angst in the present day storyline that much worse. But I love angst so I didn’t have a problem with it.

I also really enjoyed getting to know lily and Bennett once as young adults and later again as not as young adults. I loved seeing the things about them that changed and the ones that stayed the same.

100% recommend this story.

I like second chance romances. Especially when one person was “at fault” for the breakup and has grown since then. Maybe even putting in some growth during the time of the book.

I also like how the back and forth between then and now gives us not only a really good sense of how their young relationship progressed, but also what was behind Bennett’s reasoning for breaking up.

Finally, the end was fabulous!

I have one complaint, which is going to sound silly, and maybe it should. The cover really made me think this was about an older couple. “Older” being relative, I thought they were in their 40s or 50s. Their hands look a bit wrinkled, and the arms of the suit jackets and sweaters just looked like they would be more likely to be an “older” couple. Given that there aren’t enough lesfic books about people in my age range, this put my nose out of joint for a bit. I got over it, though.

Ok, this is the first book from this author that I've read and I'm impressed. I love how the book is set up with the past as one chapter and the present as the next. I was a little concerned that there would not be enough time to wrap up the book, but it worked. I didn't know if they would find a happy ending, but they did. There is a warm, fuzzy ending so don't worry. Will definitely get some more from this author

A well-written and beautiful love story! I have read my fair share of lesbian romance novels and this is now my favourite of all time! This is also my first time reading a novel by this author; and I can't wait to read her other ones.
The two timelines that were woven delicately and intricately slowed the pace, created a lot of tension and kept me on my toes! The main characters were well developed. Their experiences struck many emotional chords that made me sympathize with the characters regardless if agreed or not with their actions or decisions.

It’s not often I read a book that is free from typographical errors and poor editing, but I was delighted to be able to read this book free from such issues. It really is superbly produced, and superbly written by a very talented writer.

I liked that it alternated in time, with a chapter being set a few years ago, and the next set in the current day, etc etc. It really helped to see the whole picture, to understand how the two leading ladies, Bennett and Lily, came to be the people they are today.

Speaking of the two leads, they are both very likeable characters, with enough backstory for each, and there are some very likeable secondary characters, except for the ones who aren’t supposed to be very nice, obviously!

All in all, a really enjoyable read. I will be seeking out more of this author’s work.

What a journey. How we think we are growing and moving forward. When the realisation hits we are only in the past and scared of the present. Thank you M. Mc Callan for sharing your art.

Loved this one about second-chance love, especially since I wasn’t a fan of her her latest book. The merging of past and present was beautifully executed. The scenes of pining, anticipation, and falling were major highlights for me. You really got the sense of desire and gravitational pull the main characters still held for each other when they reconnect years later.
