About the Author

Patricia Dixon was born in Manchester where she still lives with her husband. They have two grown up children and one grandson, plus the company of a lazy bulldog. Ignoring her high school reports and possibly sound advice from teachers, Patricia shunned the world of academia and instead, stubbornly pursued a career in fashion. Once the sparkle of London life wore off she returned north and embarked on a new adventure, that of motherhood. Now, almost thirty years later she has acquiesced to the wise words of her elders and turned her hand to writing. Patricia has written five novels set in the Loire and then, in complete contrast, a much darker story of psychological suspense. She is currently writing her next book, a murderous tale set in the sixties and if she’s not at her desk Patricia loves to read historical fiction or attempts recipes that look great on television but not necessarily her plate. And when the penny jar is full she cashes in her coins and heads to France, the lure of red wine and escapism equalled only by the pursuance of her dream job, writing for a living.

Compelling Read! I sleeplessly couldn’t put it down! The ending completely surprised me. This was a fast read, and very easy to follow each time I picked it back. Up.

Having an affair you kind of accept that a bit of lying comes with the territory. As Rowan is looking forward to finally having the perfect life with Alex, the man she loves, a series of events has her wondering are there even more lies that she knows nothing about and will they tear everything with Alex apart.

The Other Woman is a highly addictive and gripping read that kept me enthralled and engaged throughout. It was so easy to be caught up in the story and I could not tear myself away until I was done. Best of all was that twist! WOW!! I was not expecting it at all and it took me the better part of an hour when I was done reading it to pick my jaw back up off the ground!

What sets this story apart from others in a similar vein is that It’s not very often that you find yourself rooting for “The Other Woman”, but that is the case with this book. While I loved everything about Rowan, there was nothing at all likeable about Alex’s ex wife Janey, but in saying that, she did bring the story to life and has been perfectly created as the you know what!

Patricia Dixon has set the bar very high with this book and I think it is her best work to date. A fantastic writer and storyteller, she delivers each and every time and it is always such a satisfying experience reading her work. Congratulations on another smashing read Patricia and I look forward to the next one.

Ooooooooh! I'm still surprised and shocked from the end of Patricia Dixon's newest novel! You will think you have it all figured out. Really, you don't. Each of her novels gets better and better, and this one does not disappoint. She brings you into her world so easily and effortlessly. I fell in love with most of the characters and extremely hated others - especially one. You'll know who I'm writing about, when you read The Other Woman. Thank you again, Mrs. Dixon, for another must-read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I never knew disliking someone could be so enjoyable!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The detailed description of the characters means you really get to know them and like them, maybe love them... or perhaps even hate them! Its a complex tale of love and betrayal, all neatly wrapped up in a story of miss-trust and power. It's incredibly well written and the narrative is both compelling and engaging. At times I felt like i were actually in the book, looking out from inside the very structure of the words and paragraphs they formed. And, it had such an unexpected twist at the end, I actually gasped out loud! This was the second book of the author's that I have read, and it must definitely will not be the last. Loved it - what are you waiting for? Read it now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Romantic suspense

This is romantic suspense so not really my normal style however the writing style of Patricia Dixon does seem to work well with the style.

Rowan just drove me nuts from page 1 I felt that she was deluded and just wanted to see the best in people instead of being more realistic.

Janey who seems all innocent with knowing that her marriage is over but still hangs on for dear life to what she thinks she is owed. I hate the fakeness and how she seems to only care about one thing, herself.

The book is very similar to other books with the jilted lover but in this case the writing did a much better job of differentiating the books.

I was shocked at how much I liked the book not because the writing wasn't good but usually these types of romantic style suspense books don't really catch me and keep me interested.

Ben was an interesting character since you meet him. A moody teenager who really wanted more from his father and less from the lady he married. It was hard as you could feel his pain as he tries to reconcile what happened to his father and to himself in a lot of ways.

This book deals with a very touchy subject for me as it deals with spousal abuse but it goes the opposite if normal where the man is the abused person. Having dealt with that in my own life it was hard and I had to stop the book to start it again a bit later when my mind was not drifting back to that time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A romantic story with a twist
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 25, 2021
I've loved all of Patricia's stories set in France and now she has moved on to a different genre. This one is a very good thriller with several twists at the end. Right at the beginning Rowan has to make a choice and she follows her heart when she falls in love with Alex, a married man. She waits patiently in France for him to disentangle himself from his evil wife and reorganize his business in Manchester. Just as it seems things are going well it all starts to go wrong. Rowan becomes a stronger woman, protecting her family but is Alex the man she thought he was? I sense there could be another follow up book.

Guinevere
5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and unputdownable
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 12, 2021
I loved this book, it was full of everything I like, a jolly good plot, an evil character to bring an element of menace in the mix, and believable characters.
The only thing that spoilt it for me was the part of the story where *SPOILER!* the young man is placed in the top box of the car to smuggle him over the Channel to England. Surely he would have suffocated? The author said it was a sunny day so it must have been like being locked in a greenhouse? I couldn't see that ending well.
Apart from that what a great read.

Did I read the same book as all the rave reviews?! With the exception of the final four percent of the book I found it terribly slow going. Absolutely nothing happened until well past the halfway mark. Wouldn't recommend
