A sapphic YA graphic novel with sword fighting, political intrigue and magic where the princess needs a marriage alliance for the welfare of her kingdom, but she unknowingly accepts a proposal from a mysterious country, having come not from the prince, but his sister.

The Marble Queen is a YA fantasy graphic novel that’s the political drama of Nimona meets the heartfelt romance of The Princess and the Dressmaker, but this time in a sapphic romance surrounded by a mist of magic.

Princess Amelia’s kingdom, Marion, is in shambles after months of their trade routes being ravaged by pirates. Now, it seems the only option left for her is to save it through a marriage alliance. When she gets an exorbitant offer from the royalty of Iliad—a country shrouded in mystery—Amelia accepts without question and leaves her home to begin a new life.

But she lands on Iliad’s shores to find that her betrothed isn't the country’s prince, but the recently coronated Queen Salira.

Shocked, Amelia tries to make sense of her situation and her confused heart: Salira has awakened strange new feelings inside her, but something dark hides behind the queen's sorrowful eyes. Amelia must fight the demons of her own anxiety disorder before she can tackle her wife's, all while war looms on the horizon.

Quality Control Issues
I pre-ordered this book March 2022 and after all this time it finally arrived. Unfortunately, Amazon just threw it in a box with some other items that I had purchased recently and the fact that it survived the journey unscathed is a miracle. Though unscathed is probably not necessarily how I would describe the book in its current condition because it looks like during the printing and binding process some of the pages in the book, were folded over and bound inside the spine so I can’t actually pull the pages out to even read it.After a two year wait, I am a little disheartened to even begin reading the book so my review will sit at two stars until I have had a chance to finish reading it. Once that’s done, I will update my review, according to the quality of the story content, as well as the quality control issue listed above.I would happily exchange it for a non defective copy but I don’t see that option available to me. :(Update: I enjoyed the story and the character artwork of Salira was my favorite. Things felt a little rushed at the end but overall it’s a cute story. Fortunately the damaged pages in my book didn’t impact the story too much but it was enough for me to leave some stars off.

This was so cute! I absolutely loved it. Salira is my new book girlfriend. She is so unbelievably cool and nice and respects Amelia as boundaries. The dark haired broody bad boy, but a girl. I love it.

This charming sapphic fantasy is absolutely the perfect blend of thrilling action and heart-melting romance. Amelia is a heroine you really want to root for as she tries to find her way in the world while also helping the people she loves. The art is absolutely gorgeous and full of feeling, and the story has a powerful message of self-acceptance at its core. A perfect read for swoony sapphic fantasy fans!

One of the best reads! It it definitely in my top 5 reads! I hope to see more work from this author and artist in the future!

Honestly this book isn't worth it. The author skimmed the top of so many cool concepts, and the artwork was mediocre. I would have enjoyed it more if the author had made this a series, and had really taken the time to dive into their marriage, their love story, the magic, the politics, all of it. It left you wanting more.

Tolle Geschichte, schöne Zeichnungen. Gerne mehr davon. Das Ende ist ja relativ offen gehalten...daher ich freue mich auf eine Fortsetzung.
