Willow Valley #2

The Holiday Dilemma

Rate this book
Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. My bakery, The Crispy Biscuit, is all decorated and every year I feature a new holiday recipe. This year, it’s none other than my soft, gooey, and oh so sticky cinnamon buns. As I’m making the first batch, I sit down to read through my favorite baking magazine only to find out that they are going to be filming their Countdown to Christmas Bake Off event right here in Willow Valley.
I’d entered this contest the last two years, both times coming in second place. Everyone tells me that the third time is a charm and so with the whole town routing for me I enter my cinnamon buns.

The day of the try-outs I arrive with my buns and a smile, only to discover Tristan Ryan sitting on the judge’s panel. We went to culinary school together. We didn’t have a good relationship then, especially when he voiced that he didn’t think I deserved to be at one of the top culinary schools if all I was going to do was take over my mother’s bakery back in my small hometown.
There was no way I was going to let him get to me. When my name was called, I raised my head high and climbed up the stairs to the stage. That was when it happened, my ankle went rolling, my rolls went flying, and my mouth…well I started cursing. I’m still not convinced the trip was just an accident.

Tristan claimed the guilt, I guess that’s why he stayed. He even moved right into my house beside the bakery. He took care of me and my broken ankle, and even volunteered to help with the bakery. To my surprise, the criticism seemed to stop, and something else started. I was beginning to like the big dumb jerk.

I don’t know what I was thinking, a week later, he was itching to go, but promised to stay long enough for the contest. I knew it would never last. After all, Tristan always had a way of testing my patience, and I was convinced he’d decide soon enough there was nothing for him in this little town, including me, so what harm would come from a little fling?

This is a well written enemies to lovers small town romance at Christmas time. The author brings strong characters and weaves an entertaining story and moves it fluidly with perfectly painted scenes. I enjoyed reading Brooke and Tristan's story.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

The Holiday Dilemma is an enemy to lovers, small town romance that I couldn't get enough of. Brooke is a huge fan of Christmas, and it shows in her new Christmas baking lovingly made each year. Things take a turn this Christmas when she learns that the magazine she loves so much is filming their Countdown to Christmas Bake Off in her town, so she enters again. Little did she know that Tristan, a man she can't stand from her culinary school days, is a judge, and all hell breaks loose shortly after. She ends up injured, and Tristan finally thinks of someone else but himself to help take care of her, and maybe just maybe they'll be able to put their past behind them. The more time these two spend together, the closer they actually get, and the sparks are flying, but Tristan's stay in town has an expiration date so to see how it will all pan out, you'll have to hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Received ARC for honest review

I’m always afraid I won’t have enough time to read an arc but for S.L. Sterling I may fear that but it never fails I get caught up in the characters and have a hard time putting it.

This book did not go the way I imagine but it still had me enthralled with the way it unfolded. A great quick holiday read full of heartbreak and triumphs.

Tristan and Brooke went to culinary school together. The didn’t have a good relationship then, especially when he voiced that he didn’t think I Brooke deserved to be at one of the top culinary schools if all she was going to do was take over her mother’s bakery back in her small hometown.

Many years later Festive Treasures magazine is hosting their Countdown to Christmas bake-off event in Willow Valley. The last two years Brooke entered, she had come in third and second place. Believing that third time is a charm she enters i to the competitiom this year also. When she get her acceptance letter she discovers that Tristan Ryan is sitting on the judges panel. But Brooke doesn't let that deter her. On the day of the try-outs she helds her head high, but fate (or should I say Tristan) had other plans and she has an accident. And after all of that the fun starts.

Overall, I really loved this story. It has that perfect Hallmark movie vibe and I enjoyed it very much so. I loved it so much that I read it in one night.

This is the second book in this series. They can be read as standalone books. Brooke and Tristan meet years ago while both attending culinary school, specifically the baking portion. Tristan was stuck up and didn’t think much of Brooke’s dreams. Mean while he didn’t really have the skills himself. Now years later they are about to meet up again. Tristan is a judge in a contest Brooke has entered for several years. Now this year it will be held in her home town. Things don’t go very well right from the start. Tristan is still his stuck-up self except there is no longer family money to back him up. Will being forced to help fix something he messed up in this small-town force him to grow up and realize what is really important? This book was a good read. I wasn’t as invested in it as the others in the series. Frankly Tristan just bugged me. Even when he seemed to be turning things around it was like he refused to take responsibility for his actions. Brooke goes through so much in the book. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading to the next book in the series. Great job S.L. Sterling.

Forced proximity, small town , enemies to lovers and second chance . S.L Sterling has once again taken so many of my very favorite tropes to read and flawlessly entwined them in the perfect holiday romance with all the feels . There really are not any perfect words to express all the reasons I adored Tristan and Brooke’s emotional rollercoaster of a journey, or to clearly express all the emotions I can guarantee it’s going to stir in you . Truth is that you simply have to pick it up and read it for yourself. I tend to read a lot of dark romance, so it’s not often at all that I get to enjoy a story that puts a smile on my face the entire time , that has me laughing out loud one second and crying the next . Well S.L Sterling is my go to author whenever I need a bit of joy in my life . Tristan and Brooke were both so likable and relatable yet unique and multi layered. I pretty much fell in love with both from the very first chapter .

Two people, with different ideas and ideals are enrolled in a cookery course. Tristan plans to be a Michelin starred chef but his attitude is selfish and haphazard. Brooke is focused with less ambitious projects in mind. It's not easy to guess who with fail and who will succeed.
A baking competion brings them into contact again some years later. One is content and the other struggling to hold onto the job. His behaviour having caused big problems causes him to rethink and reevaluate.
Happy ending, heat in and outside the kitchen but plenty to keep you warm without burning out only to leave to dampened ashes.

A small-town baker falls in love with her former nemesis from culinary school.
The story was o.k. but there were so many unbelievable elements like why would a New York magazine just randomly hold their annual baking contest in a small town that just happens to be the hometown of own of their regular contestants? Or why would Tristan, who didn't finish culinary school and never even worked as a chef get offered a position as chef in a L.A. restaurant?
Also Tristan was really a very selfish, lazy and rather unlikable person in the first part of the book and just one conversation with Brooke has him turning into the complete opposite?
All in all the story just didn't really appeal to me.

I've read several books written by S.L. Sterling; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the second book in the Willow Valley Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Brooke & Tristan; they went to culinary school together but didn’t get along. This year the Christmas bake-off is in her town; she’s won second place the last two years. She’s enters again and is accepted but finds out he is one of the judges. At the try outs she twists her ankle and wakes up in the hospital with him claiming it was his fault and wants to take care of her.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Brooke and Tristan’s journey. These two met in culinary school and they did not have a good relationship. Now Brooke has her own bakery and there is a Christmas bake off in her town, only to find out that Tristan is on the judging panel. When things do not go to plan Tristan feels guilty and take care of Brooke. This is a well written story which is a magical holiday gem of a story, which is an enemies / lovers’ story, with second chances, emotions, romance, humor, witty banter, twists, fun, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner.

I love baking and really love stories around bakeries. This is a fun enemies to lovers/small town romance filled with delicious talk of bakery treats and coffee!!

Brooke and Tristen have a not so good history…they are unexpectedly reunited and one event after another creates more and more tension between them. Their banter, sass and dialogue is quite entertaining and will have you laughing throughout the book.

Brooke is surrounded by amazing people at her bakery and has quite the amazing reputation in town as the best baker. As Brooke and Tristen are are forced to spend more time together, underlying feelings begin to come to the forefront.

This is a fun and entertaining read…be careful because you will be hungry by the end of the book!

Tristan and Brooke both have a passion for cooking but they both see it in a different way. They both approach cooking and life in general in different ways. When these two former cooking school classmates see each other again…it’s definitely not a happy reunion. When thanks to Tristan, Brooke is injured and unable to run her businesses and enter a contest. Tristan pretty much moves into her life and tries his hardest to help her. There was definitely a few laugh out loud moments for me. I enjoyed this adorable quick read. The characters were sweet, funny and entertaining. I definitely look forward to reading more books in this fun series.

This is book two in The Willow Valley Series and it is Brooke and Tristan's story. Brooke and Tristan have history as they used to be cooking classmates and they didn't get on at all and now they meet again on a cookery course and still dislike each other and have different views on life and what they want to achieve but when disaster strikes will they both be able to put there differences aside and work together to achieve what they want and see each other in a different light only time will tell what the outcome would be for them. I really enjoyed this book and even though it was a quick holiday read it is sprinkled with a touch of magic and it is definitely worth reading.

I went into this book blind just excited to see a new book in this series and SL Sterling did not disappoint me.

This is a great read to put you in the festive spirit and essential enjoy a cheesy romance. Its what this time of the year is about and saying cheesy is not an insult its what I love about this season. What's not to love about this small towns baker falling for her culinary school nemesis. I so loved their banter and dynamics. Thoroughly entertaining.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the Author. This is my honest opinion

Brooke and Tristan did not have the best relationship. They definitely weren't friends. They each had a different outlook on things.

Brooke was dedicated to achieving her goals. She became so excited when she received her acceptance letter for entering a baking contest. Her happiness soon diminished once she noticed Tristan's name as one of the judges.

When Brooke gets in a bind, Tristan offers to help. Can they work closely with one another? Brooke now has to trust Tristan.

This Enemies-to-Lovers Holiday Romance was a pleasant read.

Brooke and Tristan knew each other in cooking school. She found him to be arrogant and rude so she tried to ignore him, even if she was attracted to him. Years later she enters a Christmas baking competition and Tristan happens to be one of the judges.
But after an accident during the first round, Brooke ends up with an injury and possibly loosing business because of Tristan.
He offers to help out to make sure she doesn't sue the magazine he works for so he doesn't loose his job.
Could spending time together again provide them with a second chance.

I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Brook Kinley & Tristan Ryan. These two first met years earlier in culinary school. It did not go good. Though Tristan is attracted to her he has one problem it is his mouth he says things he doesn't mean that turn her off. Brook has had a plan since before she made it to school and is determined to make it to those goals. She will also not let some pushy, rude guys make her feel bad about that. Can they find a HEA or will they forever be stuck in the past?

Amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

The Holiday Dilemma is a shortish enemies-to-lovers romance set in small-town USA at Christmas time. So there's lots of Christmas-y feelings and strong kinship amongst residents. The heroine is a wonderful, loyal, hard-working person and I was rooting for her from the get-go. Unfortunately, I really disliked the hero for most of the book. He did redeem himself in the end but it was hard work! The ending is happy for the couple but all-in-all bittersweet.

Tristan is a spoiled rich kid who doesn’t have an appreciation for money or how things work. He has never really had to work for anything and has survived on handouts from his parents. But things happen that make it so that he has to start taking care of himself.

Brooke is the only child of restaurant owners. She wants to give back to her family and town and everyday she works to continue to achieve her dreams.

Their personalities clash but as time passes they eventually see who they really are. It was a nice read

Brooke and Tristan first meet while studying at cookery college. Brooke takes her studies very seriously whereas Tristan tries to get through by doing as little work as possible. When Brooke takes over her family's diner she works hard to add a bakery section and expand her business in her small hometown and online. Tristan, now working for a cookery magazine, turns up in her town when the town is chosen to host this year's baking competition. When she trips, Brooke's business suffers and circumstances push Tristan to help Brooke. His usual easy going attitude causes problems but eventually he realises the error of his ways and his relationship with Brooke develops as they become more friends than enemies. Read an ARC for an honest review.

I loved this story and the sparks that are between Tristan and Brooke. They don't start off in a great way and each interaction just gets more... frustrating for Brooke. Tristan definitely knows how to step in it and I love how that plays out with Brooke. They are both strong characters, with growth and heart. There's bits of emotion that pulled at my heart. I loved the back and forth between them and the slow burn is perfect! This is a great read and I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

The Holiday Dilemma is a cute holiday read that can be read in one sitting! I thought Brooke and Tristan were just the cutest! I love their second chance story. I enjoyed how Tristan stepped up and helped Brooke and stopped thinking only of himself. He really grew as a person since meeting Brooke and spending time in Winter Valley. Brooke is always putting others first so it was nice when everyone else took care of her in her time of need. I really enjoy this little town and can't wait for the next book!

This is book #2 in The Willow Valley Series. Definitely a dilemma if you hurt yourself during the craziest time of the year and have to be on your feet to get everything done. All of her employees counted on her. Love the town’s love for Brooke and everyone. Tristan and Brooke met at Culinary School. They didn’t actually see things the same. Now Tristan is back in her hometown. Let the fireworks begin!!

Good storyline with characters that are well developed, I liked that you get the backstory between Brooke and Tristan. It was wonderful seeing how well they played off of each other as the tension between them is high, and as they say a thin line between love and hate. Finally to get Tristan to open up and care more about someone else other then himself was pretty awe inspiring.

I enjoyed this new "Willow Valley" story. It is a good holiday romance that develops nicely. It is a small town romance where enemies become so much more to each other. Brooke has a passion for cooking and Christmas. She decides to enter a bake off in her town. Things get interesting when she finds out Tristan, a man from her culinary school, is a judge. She could not stand him. This is such a good read that is fun too.
