About the Author

Del Robertson lives, works, and plays in San Antonio, Texas, where, much to the disappointment of her twin nieces, she emphatically does not ride a horse to work every morning.

An avid reader, whose mom graciously looked the other way while she devoured Nancy Drew books beneath the covers with a flashlight every night, Del has been penning short stories since she was old enough to pick up a Husky pencil. Thanks to the encouragement of her partner and the coincidental/accidental breaking of her favorite pencil, she was eventually convinced to take up the keyboard. After that, it was years spent writing stories for the Web before having a manuscript accepted by Intaglio Publications. Taming the Wolff is her first published novel.

“I’m a liar. And a good one, at that,” is how Del Robertson introduces herself as a writer. She particularly enjoys telling tall tales that include history, fantasy, and dark humor. She takes all of these elements and combines them in one big pot, stirring thoroughly and blending into the stories she writes.

I don't usually write a review, but WOW! This book had me hooked from the first page, and up long after I should have been asleep.I've always loved the idea of ships, and now I work on one. It's fun to be able to understand the nautical terminology while getting lost in such an adventurous story. I love reading books (or watching movies) with strong female leads. It's inspiring. I found myself comparing this novel a few times to the classic, "The Princess Bride". I loved the lay out of the chapters letting us get inside the heads of our two main characters. Thank you Del for a wonderful work of art! Please tell me you are working on more novels!

I wish there were more lesbian books like this out there. The plot was cool, and I really liked the way the characters interacted with each other. I would say, though, that I would've liked a BIT more closure, but that's just me. The ending was happy, but it could've been drawn out a bit more, I would say.

Wonderful read, very enjoyable!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this seeing as how it is the author's first book, I was unfamiliar with the publisher and it is being sold for only $5, but the reviews piqued my interest and I'm a fan of action and pirates mixed in with my lesbian romance. Well it delivered in every way! I loved the leads, the world they inhabited and everything else about the story. Kris and Alexis are charismatic and strong and their chemistry together is wonderful. I love Patrick O'Brian's naval stories and while this didn't have the depth of those (but why would it need to?) it was still transporting and invigorating to read about life on the ship. The dangers our lovers faced were dire and I was extremely nervous for their safety through most of the book. My only complaint would be that I wish it lasted a bit longer so their stories could wrap up a bit more.

I can't believe it's being sold for only $5 and i don't think anyone should hesitate to pick it up. I greatly look forward to more from Del Robertson and I would especially love a sequel to this. I'm dismayed to see that she hasn't written anything in the last few years, but I hope she'll come back to us soon.

It was an ok read..... If you could keep up with whos point of view it was. The chapters were from an individual point of view and it was hard to keep track of who was saying what. I had to Jeep going back and re-reading what I had just read to see who was talking

I so enjoyed this book. I couldn't stop reading. When I had to I couldn't wait to get back to it. I wanted it to continue even when I reached the end. I am not one to read very much if at all but , I have found the type of books I love. Thank you to the authors for creating them and Amazon for making them available. I have become a loyal reader of lesbian books. Wow!

I'm willing to do a lot of suspension of disbelief for lesbian pirates, but I'm afraid that some vocabulary errors really took me out of the book. If you don't know the distance between a "courtier" and "courtesan", it'd probably be better to avoid writing historical fiction. Particularly when the wrong word is used multiple times throughout. "Reign in" vs "rein in" is a particular peeve of mine.

Also, the prose was a little too purple for me (yes, I have a threshold, even for cheesy romance) and the anachronisms were too much. Ok, the whole thing is anachronistic, but again, threshold.

The vocab errors were even more strange given the fact that the grammar and spelling were fine in general - not even a misplaced apostrophe - so it would have had some editing. Perhaps a friend edited it and didn't want to be too critical?

I could maybe have gotten over all that if the characters or plot were great, but they were fairly cliched. There are a few hot moments, but it doesn't really rate as good mindless porn either.

I know this might sound a bit harsh, but I have to admit I'm a bit tired of grading lesbian writing "on a curve". Especially since het romance can be really good these days, but this reads like an 80's Silhouette, alas.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves romance and pirates. The only thing I didn't like was it was short. Other than that it was a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely one of the best of the lesbian pirate genre.

I loved this book.

There remained a few minor unanswered questions, but none that left me disappointed in anyway. I was fond of both the major and supporting characters (though with a little further character development earlier on, the betrayal by a certain character would have felt greater) . The relationship was developed with just the right pace and chemistry, and well rewarded at the right time.

This isn't just a lesbian romance though, the plot flowed well, with just the right amount of action.

There was one character, who i shall call 'the protector' in order not to spoil things, who i really warmed to and would love to see a little more of in a future edition. His dedication deserves some reward, is all that i am saying.

Having read this, and her short story, i really hope that the author such quality material again soon.
