Product Description
The Ergo-Rider provides absolute ergonomic comfort and support. The hybrid of a round seat and a saddle style seat, it offers the maneuverability of the former, and the playing support of the latter. The front cutaway allows unimpeded thigh movement even during the most rapid double bass patterns.
Seat LockThis is a great design that utilizes a two-piece locking hinge collar system for superior throne base to seat connection and an oversized wing nut for easy and secure tightening. Tama removed the wobble which can typically affect the seat to throne base connection.
1st Chair Height Adjustment1st Chair thrones offer the best of both worlds-the exact height adjustment of threaded rod thrones with the fast adjustment of T-bolted systems.
BackrestBoth the height and angle of the backrest unit are adjustable, giving you the support you need no matter how you sit. And now there's another user-friendly feature: you can fold the backrest itself onto the seat without disassembling it for easier transport. The backrest unit is also sold individually and fits on all 1st Chair thrones.
Super Stabilizer DesignBy lowering the distance of the center throne pipe to the floor, a lower center of gravity was achieved. Additional stability is improved by lengthening the tripod leg stabilizer bar and designing double-braced tripod legs that do not taper at the point they insert into the rubber feet.
Glide-Tite Grip JointThis Glide-Tite Grip Joint allows for a more secure attachment by using a metal-to-metal contact point. It is an extremely solid base attachment, even for the heaviest hitters.

If you're serious about your drumming, then invest in a good throne, like the Tama First!
But a sudden worsening of a lower back issue changed my attitude, and I decided to buy the throne to invest in my health and to help enable pain free playing. The design of the throne is great, and I'm generally happy with the purchase. The throne is as supportive as I hoped.
The reason I'm giving this product a 2 star rating: a) after just over a year of use, some quality issues developed (stitching on the front of the seat started separating, leather started tearing at the busted seam, and a rivet fell out of the back rest), and b) the warranty on such a high end product is abysmal (1 year), which means I need to replace the seat at retail price, or fix it myself. At 165 lbs, I stay pretty trim, and the lightly used throne has never left my house. I'm willing to forgive the rivet on the backrest, but there is absolutely no reason that the stitching should be separating on the seat itself, unless a defect is present. Out of warranty, maybe, but apparently Tama is ok with sacrificing the user experience of one customer to enable sweeping its own failures under the rug, so to speak.
