The Two of Us is a forced proximity/brother's best friend book and I'm always here for both of those troupes! This was my first book by Kennedy Fox and I enjoyed their writing style a lot. I'll for sure be picking up more of their books in the future.

Cameron is getting ready to graduate college when a pandemic hits and she decides to self isolate in her families vacation cabin outside of the city. She doesn't expect her brother's best friend, Elijah to show up as well. Initially she wants to be alone with her cat, but it makes sense that Elijah stays as well. It's either that or his small NYC apartment with roommates who aren't taking this serious at all.

Cam and Eli have a cute banter and some intense tension between them. It's pretty obvious that they have both had crushes on one another, even though at first it seems more like an enemies to lovers story. I liked watching them fall for one another and I especially loved Eli and his take it slow method. You could tell he really cared about Cam.

I listened to the audio-book and the narration was fantastic. Tor Thom and Emma Wilder did a great job voicing Cameron and Elijah. While overall I did enjoy this one a lot, I do think there was some unnecessary drama towards the end that was unneeded. There was already enough happening in the story, adding that in towards the end kind of took me out of the book. Also, it has some serious almost too realistic subject matter. Those not wanting to read about the pandemic we are currently in, just a heads up :)

If you're looking for a sweet and steamy brother's best friend story that has a bit of drama and angst, give this one a go!

Kennedy Fox accepted the challenge to write a heartwarming romance set in current situation of utter chaos and panic. And they excelled at it. The Two of Us captures every aspect of a very real and relatable romance perfectly. It was an absolutely breathtaking and enjoyable romance.

Cameron St. James has escaped to their family cabin in Roxbury away from the epicentre of COVID infection, New York City. And by accident, her brother's best friend Elijah Ross has reached at the same time. The problem is they have a bitter sweet relationship. Since adolescence, Cami has behaved like this entitled rich heiress and Eli always teased her. But as they spend time in the confines of a cabin and tackle challenges together, they cannot deny the sizzling hot attraction. Can they be together in sickness and health? Is their hate nothing but cover for their true emotions?

I won't lie. I was pretty much worried and sceptical about how this quarantine romance will turn out to be. Being a frontline health worker ( just like Cami's brother Ryan), all the horrors of this pandemic are too raw and real to me. But I did not need to worry after all. The author duo handled it with sensitivity and finesse. They very carefully touched and explored all the aspects of quarantine. The utter helplessness, fear and frustration. The logistics. The very real scenario of getting sick and not being able to get help immediately. The overloading of healthcare system. And yet it did not eclipse the romance. Eli and Cami give each other hard time initially. They tease and taunt. Eli makes fun of her uber rich lifestyle mercilessly while Cami tries control her temper. But they soon form a deep and unbreakable bonding. And their connection from childhood gets rejuvenated. The chemistry is uber hot and I just cannot get enough of their intense and epic love. I could feel their pain and depression and anxiety. I could also feel the soothing and healing touch of true love.

Eli is another Kennedy Fox man I fall in love instantly. A man with gorgeous body, charming personality, dirty mouth and ability to cook like top class chef? Yes please! I melted and swooned so hard when he took care of Cami. And Cami is not what Eli always thought her to be! She is an adorable and gentle soul but always misunderstood by the media. She is not a snobby cold hearted princess at all. She is feisty, sweet, caring and compassionate.

Kennedy Fox shows perfectly how love and friendship can lighten up the darkest of times. The Two of Us is a mesmerising, heartaching and sinfully sexy romance that holds a special place in my heart. My respect and kudos to the dynamic duo for writing such an epic story.

It wasn’t until I finished reading this story that I realized what a great trope isolation is for romance fiction. It’s the equivalent of close proximity just with a deadly virus thrown in the mix. And there is nothing that develops better than close proximity in a friends to something more romance. It’s relatable. Yes, it’s real because we’re in it but if we weren’t, these ladies are talented enough to give us a real relatable story. You don’t have to take my word for it, just read the book ;)

It’s no secret I’m a fan of this author duo, I’ve mentioned it a time or two, so I’m not going to go on and on about their talent because I’ve done that many times before. I’ll just tell you that I enjoyed reading this story because it was easy (yes, well written and well developed lol). Cami and Eli were fun even when they were bickering! The chemistry was just great and made the story go by really fast! A lot of great zings in this book. I’m really looking forward to how they develop the rest of the friends in this series!

First of all let me just say that it's me and not the book. After reading this book I've come to the conclusion that this type of forced proximity isn't for me (the two MCs "accidentally" end up isolated together). In fact, I have dnf'ed another book with the exact same tropes (brother's best friend and forced proximity) and setting (they were isolated in a cabin). So yeah, that's not for me.

Also, I don't really understand what's the point of making a story about a girl that falls in love with her brother's best friend and her brother is completely okay with that and he wants them to be together. This trope is one of my favorites because of the forbidden aspect. If he (the brother) is okay with that I don't see why I should read it. It could easily be a friends-to-lovers trope (which I don't like much).

Anyway, for the most part I didn't like this book (I have to admit that the epilogue was good though) and some parts were totally unrealistic for me. I'm not going to read the next books in the series because of the reason I mentioned. 2 ⭐

I happened to have a moment of Isolating Blues causing this review not posting when it was scheduled. It had Nothing to do with this engaging story by Kennedy Fox! In fact, I had read this, liked it for all of the important information it reenforced about the times we were experiencing and the captivating couple and story it gave.

This writing team took a time where it can be difficult to deal with and gave us a tale to acknowledge what was happening and also take us away with a sweet, fun, sexy read. I would say not all can do that and they did it extremely well.

This is the first part of a series and I think it will do well for the authors and the readers.

Mediocre 🤷🏽‍♀️
The romance ‘developed’ way too fast, I was missing angst and chemistry and didn’t really care about the characters.

The Two of Us is an extremely relatable given current events, but also just a fun read overall.

Cameron St. James is an heiress. She doesn’t cook, clean or do really anything for herself, other than her school work. Elijah Ross is a hard-working real estate agent who has worked hard for everything in his life. He’s known Cami since they were young kids, but there was always some animosity between the two of them. So, what happens when two people who can’t stand each other are stuck in isolation together? You get Cami and Eli’s wild wide of a romance.

I wasn’t a fan of Cami at the start of the book. I loved her wittiness and that she struggled with anxiety that many people experience and was relatable, but she also had a snobiness to her, however, the growth the had throughout this book was fantastic. I was totally Team Cami by the end. Eli I was loving from the start! He is sweet, kind, and I’m kind of in love with the fact he had a dobie! These two had some chemistry though. There was so much tension between them and I LOVED the banter. Plus, I can totally relate to their Netflix choices!

The Two of Us was a great read and I can’t wait for more of this series, because I’m definitely curious about Kendall and Ryan!

The Two of Us, like any other Kennedy Fox book, has my favorite mix of humor, sexiness and emotion. This story revolving around a couple being stuck together during a pandemic was very pleasant and so fitting for the current situation we’re experiencing in the world.

Cameron and Elijah have always been crushing on each other, but their different upbringing always kept them from giving a relationship a go. Cami has a certain reputation as a rich girl, but being isolated with Eli she can finally be herself without the judgement of the media. Their dynamic is so amazing with all the teasing and attraction they share. Eli is such an amusing guy and Cami’s a lucky girl to be living this crisis with him. He makes the situation entertaining while he teaches her how to cook and other simple everyday chores. The development of their relationship from a sweet rivalry toward something really meaningful was so lovely!

This enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend romance was very enjoyable and I’m so intrigued about the next novel in the series. From the glimpses at Kendall and Ryan, I’m sure their own story will be interesting!

In this hard time, Kennedy Fox brings us a story that shows that love can be found even in hopeless situations. Two Of Us is a book which plot is set in the current world events and it's not sugarcoated. At the same time, the authors show in a beautiful way that it's time for reflections and coming to terms with the past. But even if the circumstances are challenging and there's a lot of emotional scenes, this book is kept on a lighter side and that's exactly what I needed.

I'll be honest, I needed time to warm up to Cami. At first she seemed terribly pompous and spoiled and not very likeable. But day after day in isolation, her true nature began to come out and the change she's gone through was enormous.
Eli definitely stole the show in this story. He's very entertaining, but also down-to-earth, caring, helpful and supportive. I loved to see how he teased Cami and how he was teaching her basic things.
The banter between them was hilarious and the chemistry was palpable. I watched with joy as their relationship evolved from somewhat enemies to lovers.

This book is a perfectly balanced dose of reality and entertainment. The authors placed an uplifting and heartwarming love story in the center of global pandemic and showed us that life still goes on. Eli and Cami's story was funny, sweet and amazing!

I am here for this series!!! This was a great start to this series. I absolutely adored Eli and Cami, especially enjoyed the character development on Cami’s part. This is a little bit of a hate to lover, slow burn, brother’s best friend romance. Cami is used to living the life of luxury until the quarantine begins and she decides to go to her family’s cabin to escape the city, what she does know is that Eli is going to be at the cabin too. Cami is whitty, sassy but very caring, especially throughout this book. Eli is everything I want in a guy, he is hot, sweet, a dog daddy and funny! Seeing Cami and Eli get close was so cute, I loved their romance because of the opposites attract trope. It was very different from other Kennedy Fox romances because there is a ton of side character interaction because of the isolation! This story was super relatable when it comes to all things quarantine and it was fun to read about it in a lighter note.

*thank you Kennedy Fox and Wildfire PR for this opportunity!*

Where was the built up ? This was supposed to be an hate to love romance but the conflicts were solved pretty quickly and felt non existent and at the 30% mark we basically have the h throwing herself at the H and the H saying no for...reasons...he was just playing hard to get and he was a tease, which I didn’t like. I didn’t like any of them to be honest, they were both flat and I found myself skimming and rushing to the end. This was my first book from this author and I don’t think I will read any more from her.

This is another story set in the world we are living in now. It has so many actual examples of this pandemic reality we are still a part of. And in the end, it kind of took its fictional status to kind of predict the future or near future. All I can say is that I hope things don’t go on quite that long. Another year of online learning will really make me a bit scared for my job as a school librarian. But that’s beside the point.

A little different than my last book that I read set in today’s events, this one actually has the COVID-19 directly affecting our main characters. One of them had, Eli, has asthma, and so the whole time I was worried about him getting it as soon as I found out. But not only do we deal with sickness, we have to worry about people taking advantage of others in this in the outside world as well. There is danger from all directions. The love story itself is easy enough, even while Eli makes Cami hold out and he woos her as seems appropriate for the story. Their background is a perfect place to begin the story as well.

Now at first I was afraid I wouldn’t like Cami, as she actually seemed to fit right into the wealthy girl, Paris Hilton type of stereotype. But when we got her side, and saw how her life had been, and why she was that way, it made a bit more sense. And made her someone more easy to like and root for. Another thing I really liked about this story though, was all the kind of pop culture of the time it brought in. Like the TikTok thing where girls were surprising their boyfriends by walking in naked on them while they were playing video games. That got a bit in this story.

If you’ve had personal connections to people who are sick right now, or who were, this might be a hard read for you. But the romance is good, the story is good, and it fits. The reason I marked down to 4.5 was because the ending seemed to kind of drag on. I like though that we do know the next book will probably be Cami’s brother and her best friend also having a similar type of trapped together forcing them to face their feelings. But if we get her brother’s time spent as a doctor in NYC during all of this, that will probably be really intense and even harder to read than this one.

I took a chance on this book for two reasons

1) I’ve been wanting to dive into a Kennedy Fox book for a while, and figured that diving in at the start of a new series was the perfect way to go.

2) I was intrigued by the fact that they were setting the story/world during this pandemic and wanted to see it through their/their characters eyes.

And I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed Cameron and Elijah’s journey. It was the perfect mix of heart, humor and angst with a nice little surprise tossed in that even I didn’t see coming, but did fit well into the story overall, and definitely left me wanting more when everything was said and done.

I loved Cameron and Elijah. Cameron is sweet, sassy and driven. She isn’t afraid to go all in when she decides she wants something and she owns everything she is. Elijah is a good man. He’s sweet, snarky, quick witted and charming.

Their enemies/frenemies to lovers journey to their HEA was a lot of fun to experience. I personally liked the fact that the angsty-ness was on the low end. Yes, they picked at each other, but they never crossed the line into being mean and because they were on ‘lockdown’ together, it pushed them to confront the attraction that had been simmering between them for years. And though there wasn’t a huge roadblock in their journey, they did weather a few storms together and how each event only brought them closer together.

This was a fun read, and has me kicking my own arse for not diving in to these authors books before, but at least I finally started right? Right. The writing was engaging, pacing good and I liked the dual first person POV’s. As is stated in the synopsis, the Pandemic plays a part in this story and I liked how they handled it throughout the story. As for the supporting cast of characters, I loved Chanel and Bruno, as well as Ryan, Kendall and Ava and am definitely looking forward to seeing what the next two books in the series brings us!

Cami comes from an affluent lifestyle so although she is book smart she has never had to be worries about the mundane chores of daily life. With the pandemic sweeping the nation she decides that getting away from the media attention she garners and focusing on school is exactly what she needs to get through this crisis so she heads of to her family cabin to get the peace and privacy she needs.

Eli is her brother’s best friend who is concerned about the lack of concern his roommates seem to feel about the current events. With the help of his best friend, who also happens to be Cami’s brother, he arranges to stay at their family cabin far away from the mayhem that he is currently experiencing.

Neither expected the other to be there so when they find out about their living arrangements the sparks of antagonism fly. As they spend time together, they finally acknowledge that their disdain for each other was only hiding the attraction they felt for each other but can two people from very different lifestyles find a happy ever after once normal life resumes?

The chemistry between them was intense, their banter humorous and although their journey definitely had it’s challenges it only made them realize how special what they had with each other really was. I thought the narrators did a great job with both the characters and the story.

The Two of Us is a book that depicts our current situation so beware of that, specially if you have anxiety over what is happening. Having that said this is book is on the lighter side. Eli and Cami are bound to give you a good time with their banter, teasing and games. They make the best of isolation and work on getting to know each other for real and having fun with whatever they can.

They both have work - Eli works in real estate and Cami is finishing her degree. I could really relate to her struggles with working from home and not getting to finish her degree in person or walking the stage on graduation. It's my last year too, and I unlike her am already on my masters, and it's sad that this will be my goodbye. So it was nice to see my feelings reflected on the pages.
Working doesn't stop them from having fun or trying new things though. Cami learns how to cook and just be more independent by doing things herself instead of having them do it for her. Honestly, I loved seeing Cami's growth. I feel like in those months she really evolved and showed how capable, strong and real she really is. I love how Eli made fun of her and that sort of became fuel for her to do better and want to do things herself. And deep down he always rooted for her and helped her. It was totally adorable.

I loved how fun and entertaining they could be with their little games of drinking, seducing and annoying each other! I loved how they both had pets which were first seen as the 'enemy' and by the end they were as much as in love with them as each other. And I really loved the relationship they both had with Ryan, Cami's brother and Eli's bestfriend. I swear these ladies write the best male side characters. They always have swooning over them as much as our hero. I couldn't be happier that Ryan is getting is own book next!

But these two are real and like any real couple, they have their struggles and insecurities and are f*cked by life. They take care of each other and are able to see how much they truly care for one another. They fight through insecurities, distance, sickness and a surprise visit that ends in a shocking unexpected way. That part of the story came out of nowhere and had my jaw dropping but it also gave them the chance to really realise their feelings and gave them the courage to share them. So yes most of the book is light hearted and fun but there are some emotional scenes too. Now the sexual tension was real and so fun for them to explore. Eli wanted to take things slow and Cami fought him on it and it's just so entertaining and fun to see them try to break each other down... it was my favorite part of the book ahah.

Love in Isolation is bound to be an epic, unique series. I am already so excited for the second book - a snowed in situation is so dreamy aha. If you love witty banter, characters confined in closed quarters, a brother's bff to lover romance with that love to get on each other's nerves vibe, then you'll love The Two of Us!

The Two Of Us surprised me, in a good way. This duo of authors took our current events from this pandemic, and put it into a storyline and put their twist on it. Eli and Cami’s story reflects what our society is facing daily, but with added flare. So in a since, we see there is hope through devastation, and not all who is lost can’t be found.

The writing in The Two Of Us was beautiful. They captured the essence of what living through this pandemic is like, and also proved what amazing writers they were, with the depth and development that Eli and Cami’s story has besides isolation. This enemies to lovers book not only focuses on the harboring experiences from this virus, but also focuses on the romance aspect as well.

The growth that these characters showcased, was perfectly executed throughout the entirety of this book. The witty banter and dialogue also helped this book, not be such a downer considering the circumstances. The chemistry between Eli and Cami was palpable. Their will to learn from one another was inspiring.

Overall this was a wonderful book that features so many amazing qualities. I can’t wait for more of these authors.

* I recommend this book!

Triggered

I wanted to like this story because I felt it would be relatable (as in we are LIVING through the pandemic this is set in) but it was just kind of triggering. There were so many references to social distancing, wearing a mask, hospital overcrowding, frontline worker praise, etc. (SEE KINDLE HIGHLIGHTS LOL) that it felt like a promo for a Covid safety manual.

Cami and Eli were sweet enemies to lovers and I enjoyed their banter. The rich girl poor guy storyline was stereotypically portrayed. The steam was STEAMY.

Do I want to know what happens in the next story with sweet brother Ryan? Eh. Will I read it? Probably.

Nope. No thanks. Why?
The timeline was extremely drawn out in certain sections and then jumped months in the future in others. It made the pacing of the story so awkward.
The characters were pretty flat, too. I felt no chemistry between the two MCs and the instalove was uninspired.

The Two of Us is something a little different in the sense that it is set during the initial outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in New York City. Going into this I wondered how much of a part the pandemic would have to play in the story and I think Kennedy Fox found a good balance. Cameron (Cami) and Elijah (Eli) grew up together, Eli is Cami's brother's best friend; but have seemed worlds apart for some time now in an almost enemies to lovers vibe. When the pandemic breaks out in New York city Cami decides to retreat to her parents Cabin outside of the city to isolate and stay safe. What she doesn't expect is Eli to turn up on her doorstep with the exact same plan in mind.

I really enjoyed The Two of Us, it was a lighter read for the most part and I actually enjoyed that it felt relevant with what's going on in the world right now. The pandemic itself served as a catalyst for the romance by means of getting the Hero and heroine together in a cabin alone, hello forced proximity vibes. From here I think it's woven into the story well in way that feels present but doesn't overwhelm the romance of the story but adds to it and gives what happens throughout a purpose.

In terms of the romance, Cami and Eli have a clear attraction but it takes some time for them to give into it, warring with themselves internally about making a move. These two had great banter and Tor Thom and Emma Wilder really enhanced the story with their performances on the audiobook! I did worry about the story becoming a bit stale set in the one cabin the whole way through BUT Kennedy Fox threw a couple of twists in there and kept the drama up, which I loved!

For me this was an easy listen and by the end I was completely invested in Cami and Eli's love story, following on from the epilogue I am looing forward to seeing how Ryan and Kendall's story will play. Will the cabin be their lucky charm too when it comes to love in isolation?

I believe this is still free on Amazon, at least that's how I got my hands on it. And to be honest I didn't even realize it was pandemic era romance (WOW that sounds so freaking weird, I don't like it lol) COVID wasn't used directly, but you know that that is what inspired this book. Not my vibe to be honest, maybe not right now. I personally started reading more during the beginning of COVID to escape... so reading about it in my one of my favorite genres, romance, is blah to me. I don't what to say too much more because I don't want to offend anyone and this platform is about READING and enjoying other's that read too!

On to the review! I thought this was a cute romance. It was a quick read, there were some twists and turns that I wasn't expecting so it made it a bit more interesting than just two people with pent up frustration isolated together. I do feel like some situations could've been elaborated on more. Like

There was one scene in the book that made you think about how some people reacted when the pandemic hit. Like the violent side of things. Where people were doing whatever they could to get supplies. I think it just shows how grateful I was during that time to be able to have the things I needed, even if it wasn't much.

Overall I like the romance between Cam and Eli, I thought they were so cute and fun together! There were mature scenes, so 18+ for sure! I do want to see what the series is about with the books that follow this one.

So, this was my first quarantine romance! And I loved it.
Eli & Cami's story was so fun and spicy. I listened to this one on audio and the narration was fantastic. It's a brother's best friend who annoys you but you secretly think he's hot romance. And the brother's best friend has been crushing on her since forever. And they are stuck together isolating themselves in a family home outside of the big city during a virus pandemic.
I want an Eli for myself. I could just picture how strong and sexy he is. *droool*. And the way that he treated Cami... Well any woman would love that.
And I was pleased with Cami's growth during this story. She really learned how to step outside of her comfort zones.
I will definitely need to get this in paperback because I am in love with the cover. It suits these two so well.

This was a cute enemies-to-lovers story that takes place in the now.

Cameron takes cover at her family's cabin when the pandemic takes place. What she didn't realize was that her brother gave his best friend, Elijah, permission to stay at the cabin too.

Elijah and Cameron haven't gotten along since they were younger. Now they have to share a cabin together.

It's so relatable because these two experience the same threats and anxiety that we are experiencing as well. They also cope with self-quarantining in ways a lot of us have. And let's not forget the toilet paper shortage!

Overall the story was cute and the build up between these two tortured me (in a good way) almost as much as it did for Cameron .

What I didn't like was the way the story flew by at the end. It was so fast paced at the end that I felt slighted.

Eli and Cameron were such a fun read. They were total opposites. She was his best friend little sister and he was the best friend that was the help son but still was best friend with the rich family son. They both ended up by mistake at Cameron’s family cabin my mistake and it was hilarious. These two wanted to kill each other but as the days passed slowly but surely they started tolerating each other and then fell in love. They then couldn’t live without each other. Eli was afraid that Cameron family will reject him since he thought she was too good for him but nope it was the total opposite. These two brought out the best in each other. The epilogue?! Hilarious!!!! I can’t wait for book 2 since we will see more of these two.
