When Tessa finds herself in a foreign country with no clue how she got there, it’s just her luck that the only person who can help her . . . is the same man who once broke her heart.

Gray Chandler, co-founder of Falcon Falls Security, was given a second chance at life after a helicopter crash in the Army. What he never expected was to fall for his physical therapist—his colonel’s off-limits daughter.

After sharing one hot night with Tessa, he promised himself he’d move on and never look back. But thirteen years later, her late-night call for help sends him on a mission like no other. And this time, there’s no turning his back on her or his feelings.

Tessa Sloane never forgot her first physical therapy patient back in college. The handsome, rugged, and stubborn Green Beret had been a challenge, but he also stole her heart. Only to break it, leaving her unlucky in love ever since.

When Tessa bumps into Gray in her thirties, and is in need of a rescue, she’s surprised it feels as though their summer together was only yesterday. And their sizzling-hot chemistry is even stronger than before.

But in the face of danger, where old friends become new enemies, and lies and betrayal are at every corner, Gray and Tessa quickly realize “what can go wrong will.”

No longer the broken man Gray thought he was, he’ll do whatever it takes to save Tessa . . . even if it means sacrificing their second chance at forever.

I can see I'm in the very slim minority of not loving this one, but this book was pretty disappointing.

First, the writting / editing is absolutely atrocious. The novel goes back and forth between 3rd person and 1st person narrative, including dual pov, paragraph to paragraph. It was confusing af and had me rereading pages numerous times trying to figure out who was talking.

Second, there were so many things in the story that didn't matter at all while other parts were left out - like the actual final resolution to the conflict in Switzerland. Super disappointing to read the two page wrap up instead of an actual chapter or two of it actually happening.

Lastly, the love story was very sophomoric. He's growly, she's sweet. I get it, since it was described that way over and over and over again. Very one dimensional and I thought the spice was contrived and a little boring. I actually skimmed / skipped a few scenes. It just didn't hit for me. I also really don't enjoy butt stuff in my romance and I've noticed lately each of her novels gets progressively more and more. This moved from mentioning in passing to having their final love scene be anal, at least sparing us any actual detail except for we know it's without lube because a little pain is good. Insert huge eye roll here.

Maybe I've read too many other great books recently, so comparatively this fell way flat, but either way I'm done with this author moving forward based on the butt sex alone. Obviously every one has their preferences and to each their own, but if you (like me) were used to her not including these scenes in her previous books, you might also want to pass.

Story: 5/5🌟
Spice level - 3.5/5 🌶🌶🌶
Re-read/re-listen: Yes!! All of Brittney's books are re-read level
Recommend: Yes!!!! 100%
Trope: Second Chance, Force Proximity. Suspense

Story:
First off, I loved this book! Second. I really loved this book, and thirdly, I freaking loved this book! It started with the dedication!

Gray, my god. This book hotty threw me for a loop. He was the best! THE best!! “I promised you I wouldn’t walk away this time, which means not even the devil himself can rip me away from you. Got it." ~Gray.
Tessa, this girl was amazing. I loved her spunky, klutz word vomit self. She was perfect for Gray. “I think we can all use someone in our lives to help bring out the best in us.” ~Tessa. I truly love that Tessa was a part of Gray's life when he was at his lowest! Knowing the connection started after his history with Sydney. Just a FYI, I am holding a grudge with Tessa's dad.

I honestly had tears in my eyes when it ended. Don't ask me why, I mean, they were happy tears. The book took me by surprise, in the best way possible. I do not know how Brittney can still manage to bring us these fun, amazing stories. The chemistry that is between these two characters was effortless. They just fit and flowed. All of her couples have flowed so well. For some reason, these two hit such a sweet spot for me. The angst in this book was top-notch. When I read a Brittney Sahin novel, I know I am in for a wild ride. The characters, the plot, and the level of details are nothing short of incredible. Her books make me so happy and giddy. The Taken One is no exception. I truly did love this book. I loved Gray and Tessa, the epilogue 🥺😍. Ugh .this series so far has been so fun, and I can tell it's going to continue being incredible. My words can not do this book justice.
~But he had Tessa reminding him at every turn, he was a fighter, so he did his best to be one.

This author can seriously do no wrong in my eyes , & yet again she has completely bowled me over with this book .

The Taken One is Gray & Tessa’s story , it will crawl into heart & soul , take up residence ,& you won’t even be sorry .

Gray walked away 13 years ago thinking it was the right thing to do for Tessa . Then fate stepped in , & they had a chance meeting , days later that chance meeting brought Gray in to save Tessa .

Battling to try & find evidence to see who was after Tessa was baffling Gray & his team . Then answers come in , & trusts are questioned .

Such a brilliant read

Not exactly sure how Brittney Sahin does it, but book after book, story after story, just when you think she’s at the top of her game, with every new book Brittney writes she smashes your expectations.

Book 4 in the Falcon Falls, The Taken One, is evidence of that.

This is Gray and Tessa’s second chance and it was everything I hoped it would be.

Exciting and suspenseful storytelling full of emotional twists and turns has the reader invested from page one until the epilogue. The sexual tension between Gray and Tessa is 13 years in the making and for those looking for spice, these two definitely have it!!

Fans of Brittney’s series’s will love all the cameo’s from and hints on who we can hope to read in the next book!

Am definitely looking forward to who ever’s story is next!!

I fell a little in love with Gray Chandler when he first appeared as Natasha’s protective older brother in Chasing the Knight. I continued to fall in every Falcon Falls book that preceded this one and desperately wanted to see him get his HEA.

I fully expected this book to destroy me. After the prologue, I grabbed a box of tissues, a big glass of wine and settled in for hours of crying. I was pleasantly surprised when that did not happen. The action starts at the end of Chapter One and does not stop. The twists and turns kept me guessing up until the very end. I can't say much more about that without spoilers.

What I can say more about is how much I love both Gray and Tessa. We learn that they have a history and are both still a bit broken after the way it ended thirteen years ago. A chance meeting puts them back in contact and Tessa reaches out to Gray when she finds herself in a dangerous situation.

Gray doesn't believe he deserves a second chance with Tessa, but he doesn't fight it as much as I expected. They fall back into old habits and we get to see a much more lighthearted Gray. Tessa brings out the best in him with her adorable klutziness and rambling. They had me laughing out loud with their accidental double entendres. The banter is fantastic and their chemistry is off the charts. They don't have a lot of opportunity with everything going on around them, but they make the most of it when they do and it is steamy!  If the other characters would just stop interrupting them...

I was SO happy to see my favorite characters from Stealth Ops in this book along with all the members of Falcon Falls. They come together in a perfectly cohesive way to make sure that Gray and Tessa have a chance at forever. Jack is the standout for me in this one. I wasn't ready for his book after The Guarded One, but I am more than ready for him now.

The possibilities for the next book are blowing my mind and I cannot wait for the couple reveal. This series gets better and better with every release. I will read anything Brittney Sahin writes.

*This is book four in a series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading Chasing the Knight and the previous three books in this series for maximum enjoyment (and also because they are amazing).

The Taken One just might be my favorite story, of the falcon falls series so far. With all of its twists and turns leaving me guessing as to who done it, and I loved this story for that. Defiantly worthy of the five stars I gave it.

Of course I loved all the Crossover characters from the stealth ops series. Natasha and Wyatt’s was probably my favorite from Echo team. I know, I might be the only who’s favorite isn’t Chasing Shadows. But I loved seeing Natasha, Wyatt, and Gwen in book, as they are Gray’s family. I was hoping for cameo’s from them and wasn’t left hanging.

If you have read the three previous books in this series, you know what I’ll mean with this next part. At the end of The Hunted One, I was convinced that Sydney and Gray were going to be end game. I felt it was implied and was little shocked that was not how it played out (but I wasn’t disappointed because Beckett and Sydney are probably my favorite falcon falls couple.). And given the way Gray acted in the Guarded One I was a little worried that when it came to Grey’s book I wouldn’t necessarily buy into the match. I was wrong though because the way this book was written I have no doubt Tessa was always going to be “it” for Gray. Sydney who????

Gray, wasn’t a character I spend a lot of time dwelling on, his character has been around since Chasing the Knight, but I knew I liked him and new I was going to enjoy his book, and I did. I mean I enjoyed his journey, and he is swoon worthy. And though this is a second chance trope which is hands down my least favorite trope, I loved him from the start of this book, and I honestly didn’t fault him for the prolog. In my opinion Tessa made her own heartache worse by asking him to stay. She left out a few important details when she asked him to stay. It would been hard either way, but she made it harder, so it rubbed me the wrong way through the book when she said he broke her heart. Because I can’t fault anyone who walks away because they know in their heart of hearts they aren’t going to be the best version of themselves for the other person. Only we can know ourselves well enough to know what we can offer. Even if it means hurting the other person. That take strength in my opinion.

All that aside I enjoy their love story, I enjoyed reading how Gray lost his witt when she was in trouble. I loved that someone loved him just as fiercely as he loved them. I loved it when Gray told his dad he wouldn’t hand Tessa over to anyone, that he would be the one to keep her safe. I am sad it is over and I have already finished it.

This book is hands down another five star read from Brittney Sahin.

Another fantastic read!

Brittney Sahin has done it again...entranced me from beginning to end with a fantastically written book. (There is so much I could say, but I hate to do spoilers in my reviews and once I start I won't want to stop talking about this book. I WILL say you will NOT be disappointed...)

I sat down to read this book and did NOT want to stop! I loved it!

This book CAN be read as a stand-alone, but if you, like me, enjoy knowing all of the characters from the beginning, you will definitely enjoy each and every book in the Falcon Falls series.

Romantic suspense is my go-to, number one favorite sub-genre and Brittney Sahin just mastered the formula with the perfect amount of angst, spice, suspense, humor and swoony romance. I wish I spoke more languages, so I had more adjectives to describe how perfect this book is—yes, perfect.

13 years ago Gray and Tessa met, became friends, fell silently in love with each other and shared one night together, then Gray walked away before he could ruin her life (his words, not mine). When Tessa finds herself in danger with no memories of the last week, she reaches out to the one person she knows she can trust.

Gray and Tessa are what second-chance dreams are made of! Add a dash of friends-to-lovers, and I’m drooling all over the place. Tessa is my favorite kind of heroine, strong-willed, sassy, brave and funny. And if that wasn’t enough to make me fall in love, she is clumsy too. Gah, a perfect mix of adorable, and badass in her own right, it was love at first sight for me. Then we have our hero, Gray. Grayson Chandler, former Green Beret, current co-founder of Falcon Falls Security. Goddamn, what a wet dream come true! Protective, brooding, dangerous and oh so swoony. Strong, tall, muscly…okay you get the point. In short, delicious.

Dare I say it? Ah hell, I’m feeling some type of way so here we go, this book solidifies itself as my new favorite of Brittney’s!

Queen B, I don’t know how you do it, but you keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to see where you take us next!

Wow just wow, Gray and Tessa story is just spellbinding. You are hooked from the first page as they try and work out their relationship and fail miserably, to their second chance which brings all kinds of obstacles trying to keep them apart. If you like romantic suspense then this is a MUST read! Brittney absolutely crushed it with this book! Right out of the gate your hit with incredible suspense that has you sitting on the edge of your seat trying to read as fast as possible to find out what happens next. I love love loved Gray and Tessa’s story! Gray honestly surprised me in the best way possible. The depth Brittney put into his character is unmatched. I felt every single emotion Gray had throughout the entire story. I wanted to laugh with him, cry with him, my heart broke for him, I was so happy for him - all of the emotions. It was one of the best rides I’ve ever been on while reading this story. And Tessa. Tessa has the biggest heart of gold and would do anything for the people she cares about. She’s stronger than she thinks she is and I loved her character so much! This second chance was one of the best I’ve ever read! I wish I could give this book more than 5 starts because it deserves so much more! No detail or intricacy was missed. I cannot recommend this book enough!

the Grayson/Sydney situation

I have loved this series so far, but the whole Grayson/Sydney situation has left me extremely irritated. SPOILERS AHEAD….

Tessa is the heroine in this book. Grayson had a brief but very meaningful fling with her 13 years ago and walked away. Apparently, he always regretted it. In the previous book, (which takes place a few months prior), Grayson is devastated because Sydney chooses Beckett over him. Grayson had proposed to Sydney 20 years ago. She said no and through this entire series we are strongly led to believe that Grayson never got over Sydney and that she was the love of his life. But in this book he says it’s always been Tessa. I would have believed that if he wasn’t so upset over Sydney and Beckett getting together just a few months ago. It ruined the entire book for me. His explanation didn’t fix it either.

Gray and Tessa. Loved every minute of it. At the dedication page alone, I knew this would have all my feelings. Brittney has out did herself again, and this is a page turner like nothing else she has written.
We start 13 years prior with Gray in recovery and Tessa helping him. Flash forward, and it's like they never left each other. Lots of twists and turns ahead while reading. We even get old characters from all series mingled in!! Love how she is able to maintain and keep them going for us!! You'll love this no matter what.

**This book is part of the Falcon Falls Security series, and even though it can be standalone, it should be read in order (you don't want to miss out on any of the yumminess)**

HOLY Cow!!! This book deserves 10 stars! Brittney sucks you into her world and keeps you hostage until the very last page. Grab a glass of your favorite beverage, a comfy blanket, and settle in for an incredible adventure. The Taken One is the best book I have read in months! The pages are filled with emotion, details, fiercely protective alpha men, and Sassy stubborn women. There is nothing this book doesn't offer.

Barely finished. Skimmed a lot of it. I love this series but Tessa and Gray really had no chemistry. Tessa is so annoying. Please just give her to the guys chasing her. Their lives are in danger and all they do is flirt. How many boners can Gray have while in danger? And he’s a top operative?!?! Too bad everyone gets a good story but Gray?!?! I didn’t like him in the last book and he’s story really didn’t endear him.

Wow, Gray now is in my top 3 book boyfriends of all of Brittney's characters, he's very unexpected. First who doesn't love a grumpy hero and deep down he is the biggest sweetheart, fierce protector. Brittney is notorious at c@ck blocking her characters and this hasn't changed. Tessa the love that got away and he didnt fight for because he didnt think he was good enough after all his physical therapy, Tessa loved him from the beginning and they had one night together....fast forward years later and they cross paths again, will he let her go or will he admit his feelings, well I mean after this adventure they have to fight thru!

The Taken One. Falcon Falls Security: Book 4

Grayson Chandler, Army Special Forces. AKA, the Green Berets. A Veteran and Wounded Warrior. He served his country with honor and came away with a prosthetic leg. He may no longer wear a uniform, however he is still fighting. He spends his time working with an assorted group of former military heroes ridding the world of bad guys, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time. When he is not working, he’s fighting with himself over lost opportunities at love.

One by one his sister and friends have all found love, including his former girlfriend & current teammate. Yet Gray doesn’t believe he’ll ever find that special someone. After walking away from the one woman who helped him heal, body & soul, completely capturing his heart in the process, he’s given up all hope. Then there she was, 13 years later, still radiant, so beautiful and full of life. And yet once again, circumstances caused him to walk away.

Tessa (Contessa) Sloane, the light to Gray’s darkness. She was the PT intern shadowing his therapist during his recovery. Her friendship, humor and ability to drive him crazy made Gray believe in himself again, believe in love. Sadly, he let his demons and the desires of others push her away. Now she is in a foreign country alone, scared, hurt and begging him to help her. How did she end up in a hospital with a slight head injury with no memory of how she got there or what happened to her? Gray has promised to get all her questions answered and keep her safe. But from whom and why?

Will he finally stay, to grab hold of this second chance and not let Tessa go this time, or will he continue to let doubt and others influence him?

You’ll have to read the book to find out. Not giving away any spoilers.

Our first time meeting Grayson Chandler is in Chasing the Knight. He was introduced early as a side character, the brother of the leading heroine. He and his friend Jack were there, just hanging out in a wedding scene and I knew I wanted more. He popped up again at the end, little bites of dialogue filling the space, like he was winking and saying don’t forget me. And that is part of what makes Brittney Sahin’s words so special. She writes compelling military romance stories with plenty of action to keep you on the edge and steamy moments making you falling in love with the main couple. And don’t forget the side characters, the extras. Sometimes they are woven into the story or just casually mentioned and yet the crumbs she drops leaves you wanting and needing more. You can get lost in her world, forget these are not real people and simply escape for a few hours…. or days.

I loved Gray & Tessa. And now I’ll go back to waiting patiently for the next book, and the next.

I wasn't sure about Grey when we first met him many books ago, and the more we got to know about him, I was concerned that he was going to have a "feel sorry for me" story- and I'm so glad he doesnt. It's rare to have a book with a leading character with a physical disability and rarer to have them be as active as Grey is. This book doesnt shy away from his amputation and the struggles that come along with it, but its not all about it either- Brittney has told a mans story withoit shying away from the ugly parts of injury, without making it about the prostetic- not an easy task. That said, Grey is a good man. He was a good soldier and often referred to as the boy scout for not being a rule breaker. Tessa, returning to his forefront, challenges all of that for him. He thought he knew what it was to love. His call sign was Romeo, after all, and in past books, he was the one looking for companionship and struggling to find a woman that really connects. In the Taken One, it becomes pretty clear why it's been so hard. The position was long filled, and he walked away to save her from his darkness. Tessa is light and joy, but not in a nieve way. she's young and sweet but not without a backbone or being a strong force to recon with. After all, she managed to get Grey motivated to walk again, when all he wanted was to be grumpy about choices outside of his own control that got him broken and separated from his service to start with. To complicate that further, those choices were made by her father, and he made them because of Grey's father, and it all comes together to put Tessa in danger and have Grey facing the ones who suffered most for those choices to get her safe again.
Many twists, turns, old friends, and questionable characters in need of sorting, on an adventure in which you're not always sure who the good guys are, and those rules Grey always followed before are more than broken to find a way out.
Excellent book - Grey and Tessa are wonderful together without being too sweet or turning into a beauty and beast conversion type story. They remain who they have always been, perfect for each other.

I am in awe. Your books just keep getting better and better. I love them all and that many/most of them are connected so I can see what’s happening in everyone’s lives. Gray has intrigued me for a while and I knew you’d pair him with someone who could be his sun. Tessa is just that, a ray of sunshine. Helping him to accept his new reality must have been difficult when they met 13 years ago, but she did it with kindness and respect not pity. True acceptance and love is what she offered but their time wasn’t right. When their lives intersect after such a long time apart, fate smiles on them with a little help from his teammates. Their story is full of humor, mystery, excitement, heat and love. It is truly a treat to devour each story Brittney offers. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

We finally have Gray’s story! For those following along in the Falcon Falls series Gray is Natasha’s brother. He is the co-founder of Falcon Falls. The prologue takes place 13 years before the story. Gray is in therapy right after his leg amputation. He meets Tessa who is training to be a PT.
13 years later their paths cross again.

This story is wonderful. All of the Falcon Falls series is, so If you haven’t started them what are you waiting for?!?

In the prologue I laughed out loud 2x and by the end I was gasping! And that was all before the actual book started!

I laughed, I cried, I gasped out loud, I may have even yelled once or twice! This story will keep you on the edge and turning pages. I texted my friend and told her “I just can’t read fast enough!!! I want to absorb the story faster so I know what’s going to happen!!”

What can I say? Brittney Sahin has once again delivered an absolutely incredible addition to the Falcon Falls Security Series.

Gray Chandler and Tessa Sloane are both broken. Gray literally and figuratively and Tessa emotionally. Thirteen years ago Gray was wounded in combat and Tessa found herself being his physical therapist. What neither expected or admitted was that the therapy was both physical and emotional. They found a connection, but when their sessions ended, they both were left with scars and wounds unseen.

A chance meeting has Tessa’s heart reawakening and Gray’s heart breaking. And once again, a door is closed. But a few days later, Tessa finds herself calling the one man she knows that can save her…Gray. She’s in a foreigner country with no memory of how she got there. One call, and Gray forgets everything but getting to Tessa.

Protecting Tessa is at the forefront of Gray’s agenda. But he’ll have to fight both of their pasts. And just maybe if he can save her, he can win her heart. He won’t walk away again.

Add in some old friends, family, and nemesis and you have another amazing story. Sahin delivers impeccable research, storylines, and set ups for future books that leave my anticipation levels at an all time high. And she gives us a tasty tease about the Falcon Falls Security Leader, Carter, that has me on the edge of my seat.
March 22, 2023
Before starting this book, I would have told you that Gray was a character I could take or leave. I had no real feelings towards him and wasn’t sure what kind of book he would get. After reading it, I LOVE Gray. I was not expecting his character to be as deep and lovable as he became. I loved Tessa for him too. She was a character I personally could relate to A LOT. She was a klutz and claustrophobic, and I personally suffer from both of those traits myself. So it was fun reading a character like that.

Gray made me tear up at times, and I loved how emotional his character was. I was NOT expecting that, so was very shocked and very happy with how he turned out. And as usual with Brittney’s stories, they keep you entranced and on the edge of your seat. There’s always something going on and I love how her other characters intertwine. I always love when her Stealth Ops book characters show up. It makes reading her books more entertaining to me.

Lastly, this book made me ready for Jack. I seriously LOVED his character in this one and can’t wait to see him get his HEA. Same with Carter…there is one scene at the end of this book that involves him, and it will live rent free in my head until he gets his story. Definitely looking forward to it!

Wow! What a book, what a thrill ride. The Taken One will take you on an action pack, suspenseful ride. The level of intrigue is high. The spice is hot. The chemistry between the main characters, Gray and Tessa is off the charts. And you can’t help loving all of Gray’s Falcon Falls Security team. This book invoked such a range of emotions from cheering for Gray and Tessa to crying. I want to devour this book to see how it ended but wanted to savor it so it didn’t end. If you love a good second chance romance, action and suspense, you don’t want to miss The Taken One.
This is the 4th in the Falcon Falls Security series by Brittney Sahin. This book is a standalone however I highly suggest reading all of them as they are equally awesome.

I think I found Brittany Sahin back in 2018. I’ve read and listened to all her books. They all have been sooooo good, but to watch her writing evolve and her weaving of stories grow has been great. Her dedication alone was incredible! I love that she has past characters show up new books. I love to see where they are now. And often we meet some of her new characters in older books, even if it’s just a glimpse. The twist and turns of Grey and Tessa was such a great read. Just could not put it down. As always there is the love and danger that keeps you engaged to the last page and looking forward to her next. After reading each book, I change my mind on which character I hope is the main character of her next book. Have to say Grey and Tessa was awesome, but Jack (Grey’s best friend since childhood) has caught my attention.

I did not expect to love Gray as much as I do! Seeing the bits and pieces of him in previous books (both this series and in the Stealth Ops Series), I was not expecting this soft and gooey side to him since he has always been a little gruff. Seeing how big of a heart he actually has made me love him even more. And I loved Tessa! I wasn't sure anyone would be better for Gray than Sidney, but Tessa was so much better! She was the sunshine to Gray's dark skies. ❤️ It was an emotional Rollercoaster from start to finish with some surprises along the way... I'm not sure how each book tops the last but they do!

Another fantastic read, we have come back to another adventure with Falcon Falls Security. Gray is a character we have come to love. He has had some false starts in his career and Life, but we finally get his story. Each book in this series betters the last. Tessa and Gray are darkness and light, but together they just work. Working together to face the danger that is chasing her, will they allow themselves to feel what started all those years ago?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

soooo good!!!

Tessa & Gray reunited. I like reuniting with characters from earlier stories. Great character development. These folks are REAL! Looking forward to more.
