Second of all, people are complaining about HDR being washed out for 2 reasons 1- They are using HDR on non supported HDR games 2- Or they are playing a game that has terrible HDR implementation to begin with, and a good example for such a game is Red Dead redemption 2 which looks terrible and washed out when HDR is turned on(this is even for the best HDR TVs as it is a game issue and not a monitor or a TV issue), but you can still fix this issue by tinkering with your PS4's HDR calibration settings. Games that I have tried on this monitor and look great with HDR for PS4 pro are(Spider man, God of war, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon zero of Dawn).
Most importantly I do not understand why is this not vesa hdr certified while LG UK, UN and UL series are. For one, the LG monitors in the series I have listed and that have the "400" hdr certification, do not even exceed 350 nits(Their peak brightness is 350 nits, just as high as this Asus monitor) which is funny because both the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q and the LG 27UK, UN and UL series are all 350 nits max, but for some reason the LG was able to acquire a Vesa 400 certification for its HDR, but the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q, which has the same amount of nits(350), did not acquire this certification.
All in all this is a great monitor that has the best black levels for an IPS monitor and it is of better quality than the more expensive LG27UK, Ul and UN series. Its black levels are very impressive and makes any game that much more atmospheric and immersive, regardless of the resolution. For example, Cyberpunk on PC, set at 1080p, actually looks great on this monitor due to the black levels (without HDR).
-The Cons, What are they?
1-The Buttons and the Display options are kinda terrible and inaccessible/nonintuitive.
2-No volume buttons or wheel, so you actually have to go into the OSD(on screen display options) in order to get into the volume section to turn your volume up or down.
3- It does not come with an HDMI cable and only comes with a Display Port cable.
4- Terrible wire connection locations(vertically placed in the back rather than horizontally, which LG monitors win in this department)
5- And lastly there is no quick buttons for input changes. You still have to go into the menu in order to change your input from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 to Display Port and vice versa.
So good thing non of the cons have to do anything with the actual image quality because this monitor performs very well in that department. I feel they skimped on these technical issues in order to give you an Amazing display for this price, so the shortcuts that were made to offer such an amazing picture for this price, are mostly the cons I have listed, and It did not come at the expense of image quality which is great.
Of course many people would add 60hertz as a "con" but for gamers who are not planning to play games higher than 60fps, then there is no reason to consider this a con. It is only a con for people who care more about performance in multiplayer games, than about image quality. And no, the new consoles will not take advantage of monitors with higher refresh rates in triple A tittles and only a few games will even run at 4k 120 hertz on the xbox series x or the PS5. It is a gimmick that you should not base your monitor shopping decision on. I mean the PS5 box states "8k"...does that mean that games will run at 8k on PS5 and that you should go out and now buy an 8k TV to "future proof" yourself? lol of course not. Gimmick advertising is a thing children.
Maybe I got lucky; perhaps, the technology just works, but this monitor is amazing. I have an OLED TV and this feel very close to that. Gaming is beautiful; Windows 11 in HDR works great. I don't have any experiences where the screen suddenly brightens or darkens. It all just WORKS.
If you're considering a new 4K monitor and are remotely worried about OLED burn-in give this monitor a shot. Also, my screen has 0 stuck pixels. Again ... maybe lucky, maybe it's quality control at the factory.
5 Stars all around. So glad I got this ... 0 cares that it's not OLED.
Original Review:
You get quite a few cables and accessories with this monitor. The metal base is very high quality and the overall quality of the monitor is very good. When using the OSD, you can press the middle button for the main menu or button 1 or 2 for quick access to certain features. Remote control is solid and feels good. Keep pressing left on the remote in oder to exit the menus. You will need to turn off the Auto input detection if you have more than one input as it will switch to another port if you reboot or sometime even changing resolution modes as it sees the PC port disconnected for a second. It is very slow when switching modes. I ran some video benchmarks that switch between 1080 and 4k and the delay seemed like a couple seconds. This would explain why you dont see your BIOS display screen right away as the computer switches video modes. You can wok around it by pressing del key when you hear the beep, but you may not be able to see the screen for a couple seconds on boot. The 5 watt speakers are noticeable worthless. At 100% windows volume and 100% monitor volume, you can barely hear anything. Its fine if you have a soundbar or in my case I do have a mini stereo hooked up. But I dont always like to turn that on especially for my zoom meetings. It would be great if they offered bluetooth so you could connect to a BT headset or speakers. I was vey excited to get this as I have been looking for a 38" since my original 39" 4k@30 tv/monitor I got in 2015. I have recently been using a 32" 4k@60 tv/monitor Q50r so the display port and refresh rate on this were an exciting upgrade for me. This monitor also has a nice USB hub built in so you wire a camera on top with plenty of other ports. The PIP was another exciting feature but it keeps disappearing complaining about HDR even though HDR is not turned on anywhere. There are a couple potential deal breakers for me which include: Inadequate sound, no bluetooth, looong delays when switching video modes, almost not being able to boot into CMOS. Theres not even an optical output. At this price point, I would have expected adequate speakers at least. On the plus side, this is the perfect size IMO, the colors look great, the refresh is great and smooth. Everything in Windows seems snappier than my 60HZ.
Fixes so far:
- Inadequate sound - ( I have hooked to my external stereo which sounds great though the monitor headphone jack. If I need 5.1 or 7.1 I will use an audio extractor)
-no bluetooth ( I will use my computers bluetooth fo now, however that only works for that input and not my other inputs)
-looong delays when switching video modes - (no solution yet)
-almost not being able to boot into CMOS. (Hit DEL when I hear the beep and wait for display to catch up)

3D modeling and Photoshop have looked and worked great on this monitor. No complaints there. The 10-bit colour depth coming in with 1.02 billion colours, standard contrast ratio, and slightly above standard brightness all add to the experience.
The stand is actually very nice. Great quality, and many angles of adjustment.
I've been playing around with the idea of buying two more of these monitors for a triple monitor set-up. Absolutely love it.
Highly recommend.

Sure it's not "inky black" like OLED but considering I don't need to worry about OLED-specific nonsense like burn-in or ABSL, I'm perfectly OK with the black level of IPS. Beyond this, everything else is perfect. Colours are rich, whites are bright, above avg refresh rate, VRR, clear text.
