Another gripping tale in Hugh Fraser’s series of Rina Walker books. It is a page turner and did not disappoint. However, there is a large gap between what happened in this fourth book and the later events described in Book 1. It is an unsettling feeling not to know what happened, but this is part of the entertaining value of this series. Life goes on and changes, as in reality, not neatly concluded.

WOW! This hit the ground running and didn't stop until the very end. Non stop action all the way. I was exhausted by the time I had turned the last page.
Ok the boring bit, this is book four and although there is some catch-up, all the previous three books in the series are so good that you really have no excuse not to read them first. Rina has a bit of a past and I believe you would really get the best of her if you start her journey at the beginning.
So... back to the book. One of her previous outings has put Rina in the crosshairs of some really rather nasty people and she is forced to take on a hit that, when she observes the people personally, she really doesn't want to perform. She does her best to cover up her non activity but sadly she is found out and basically becomes a marked woman. But, this is just one of the things that happens in this book - basically Rina is one bad-ass killing machine here - with good cause on the whole, and she zooms from kill to kill, escaping capture and digging herself out of the tightest spots with a little help from her friends and allies. Just when she thinks she's got on top of things, she hears something else, is blackmailed by someone else, coerced by another... it's a bit heavy and non-stop. Thrilling to say the least though! And then we have some more tender moments, mostly between Rina and Lizzie to redress the balance.
And all these shenanigans are going on in a 1960s London, complete with music from the era and news too. I especially loved the mention of one of my favourite playwrights and, unfortunately, his sad demise. These mentions and asides really do set the scene perfectly and add a background rich colour to what is going on in the foreground with Rina. The author is also up with the fashions of the day too describing Rina's various outfits with great aplomb.
All in all, a cracking addition to a series that I really love. Come on Rina, what you going to get up to next time? I really can't wait to hear about it all.

STEALTH IS A FABULOUS READ AND A GRIPPING PAGE-TURNER! I could not put it down. Rina Walker and her sexy, powerful hit-woman adventures are compelling and exciting. The details are fabulous - I love her clothes!
Hugh Fraser is a terrific writer and he keeps me on the edge of my seat while learning cool, interesting facts about London (Turkey and Greece too!) back in the day.

This novel is consistent in style and temperament to the other 'Rina Walker' novels--it doesn't progress much; so, if you liked those... Fraser seems most comfortable in this thriller genre, and each novel delivers on expectations.

Rina Walker is an amazing character, she can defend herself against anyone which sometimes is a bit unbelievable . On the whole a good series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another triumph. Bring on the next one!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks forward to a new Rina Walker book as eagerly as a child waits for Christmas, and it is testament to the series’ quality that each instalment is so anticipated. This latest offering moves the story along to 1967, with London in determined swing and Rina’s reputation secure; at least, that is, until she gives in to her conscience and finds herself caught up in the twisted machinations of spies, aristocrats and the underworld she knows so well. From there, the pace is relentless, taking our reluctant heroine from the streets of London to Turkey and Greece, with murder never far behind her, and Rina proves time and again that she can more than match her adversaries for violence and cunning.
I think what makes this character so appealing is that no matter the stakes, she never wavers from her understated and almost blithe commitment to shield those she sees as innocents or abused. Rina herself is certainly no innocent, and is by now a respected enforcer for a key London firm, but just as when we first met her, she appears driven by a desire to protect others, even if it means sullying or damaging herself in the process. And even though it is act of mercy that leads to her being caught up in the book’s machinations, it is a trait she continues to demonstrate throughout the story, and it is this, I think, that stops her descending to the levels of those that employ her. She is, essentially, an honest killer.
The musical theme that seems almost as integral to the series as Rina herself continues to evolve with the character, with those bands and artists who played the pubs and clubs in earlier books now lining up along their contemporaries to headline festivals and record albums. If like me you enjoy the little cameos thrown in here and there, then this particular instalment is an absolute treat.
In summary, another triumph for Miss Walker and Mr Fraser. In fact, the only frustrating thing about a Rina Walker book is the wait to read the next one.

I'm not used to writing reviews at all, let alone book reviews so this review probably won't be as beautifully detailed or composed as some of the others here but I really wanted to reiterate how wonderfully gripping and enjoyable this story was to read!
It's very pleasing to me when an author writes a new book in a series and it turns out to be just as fantastic as the previous ones, or in this case (in my opinion) better, as I think it's my favourite Rina book!
The story is very well organised and put together, I particular enjoyed the very real and vivid descriptions of Rina's experiences in Turkey and Greece - the details were so well described (it deepened my own appreciation for my middle eastern heritage!) and yet you could still follow the story with ease and it doesn't detract from all the action and activity that's actually happening with the plot.
Speaking of plot, it's of course just as gripping and captivating as all the other books in the series and it makes you have the familiar feeling of constantly wanting to read on to find out what happens - as by this point I feel so 'involved' in Rina's life and I know so much about her original personality that it makes it even more interesting and delightful to read.
I hope to read more of Rina and her entertaining adventures in future and I'd definitely recommend the series to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, suspense, a good plot with distinctive and authentic characters and of course excellent writing which makes for a pleasurable and gratifying reading experience :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Another superb romp through the 60s-70s London underworld!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 21, 2019
This is the fourth book in the Rina Walker (assassin) series, Harm, Threat and Malice being the first three. I love the progression of Rina Walker’s character – she has a caring side to her nature which is in direct contrast to her ruthless streak and often gets her into more trouble. Having spent years ensuring her sister Georgie has the best of education and the best of everything, often sacrificing herself in the process, Georgie is now at Cambridge, whilst Rina is pulled into more international intrigues. As always the plot is fast, intertwined and ever more dangerous. I find myself drawn towards (of all things) the period references e.g. cost of things around the late 60s early 70s and ever intrigued by the fashion references – wondering if he would mention Biba – then he does! Ah the nostalgia! This plot is particularly clever and giving nothing away a double twist at the end I wasn’t expecting. Hurrah! The plot is left with just enough spare to take forward. Don’t stop Hugh Fraser I want these books serialised in film – that would really make for some good watching! Pat McDonald British crime author.
