This particular device is probably the simplest smart garage door opener I’ve seen. Simple meaning it connects to the same momentary switch ports that the wall mounted button uses, no sending a wireless signal. The door status sensor, also simple, using a rudimentary sensor with a magnet connected by a very long cable to the control unit to let the system know when the door is open or closed. That being said, the actual physical setup is a bit more involved because you need to connect and run wires but the app setup is much quicker and easier once you have created your account. In fact after the physical instal you scan the HomeKit QR code and it’s down hill from there, super quick and easy. Now I have CarPlay integration and the ability to ask Siri to open the garage door when I’m on the motorbike.
Also, because this device operates as a momentary switch there is no delay or flashing lights when you push the button to close the door and there is no delay in opening or closing the door, it’s pretty responsive and I like that. You can set the device to sound an alarm when the door closes but no flashing lights.
Pros:
Simple device design
Works with Apple HomeKit plus Alexa and Google
Software setup with HomeKit is simple
Physical connection to the sensor and garage unit
Cons:
More expensive than the “leading brand”
Physical install is a bit more involved but not difficult
