Attorney West Fallon is a social justice crusader, reluctant to put her career plans on hold to clerk for a federal judge, even if the judge is the man who saved her life. When he’s suddenly forced to retire, West is stuck clerking for Judge Camille Avery, an infuriatingly stubborn—okay, brilliant, intense, and sexy—law-and-order jurist who seems just as unhappy to be saddled with her.
As Camille and West explore their growing desire and challenge the boundaries of their work and personal relationships, a big case threatens to destroy both their careers. Can their love survive?

I think "lust love" can set in at first glance - but real, sustained love happens when core values and beliefs are shared. These two have everything going against them: no shared life experiences, entirely different upbringings, unequal financial holdings, significant age differences, and they are at entirely different stages in their careers. Had the author chosen to showcase their similarities rather than their obvious differences, I might have bought into the love story.
The author is a gifted storyteller and engages the reader in her tale. But for me, the premise of a just graduated, street-smart law clerk being the love interest of a well-off, much older poised federal judge just doesn't ring true.
I was interested in the Sadie/Camille story possibility that was dropped. Too bad. A story of two successful powerful women coming together would have been more interesting and believable.
The story pulls you in and keeps you wanting more. While it's not much of a mystery who's doing what, the why makes for an awesome read. Can't wait to read more of here work.

Despite this I quite enjoyed it. I liked the characters and what they stood for. I also don't know a lot about law clerks and what they do for judges so I found that interesting.
