Vicky Jones was born in Essex, England. She is an author and singer-songwriter, with numerous examples of her work on iTunes and YouTube. At 20 years old she entered the Royal Navy. After leaving the Navy realizing she was drifting through life with no sense of direction, she wrote a bucket list of 300 things to achieve which took her traveling, facing her fears and going for her dreams. At the time of printing, she is two-thirds of the way through her bucket list.

One item on her list was to write a song for a cause. Her anti-bullying track called “House of Cards” is now on iTunes to download.

Writing a novel was on her bucket list, and through a chance writing competition at her local writing group, the idea for 'Meet Me at 10' was born. Vicky hopes she can change hearts and minds due to some of the gritty themes of the book.

Vicky is a keen traveler, stemming from her days traveling the world in the Royal Navy, and has visited around 50 countries so far. She has also graduated from The Open University after studying part time for her degree in psychology and criminology—another bucket list tick! She is currently writing a book about her bucket list adventures, entitled ‘Project Me, Project You’, alongside planning and writing more fiction books and book marketing guides for self-published authors.

She now lives in Cheshire, splitting her time between there and visiting her family and friends back in Essex.

Loved this book. It is true to the times it was written for - the 1950's. I grew up in that time and always felt misunderstood and rejected by my parents and extended family. This book rung so true to my own experiences. The truthful nature of the story can not be denied. These authors are excellent writers and are not repetitive but truly sink home the difficulty of the times being written about. I devoured the story. Am looking forward to the next book.

This story has a lot of truth to it. The way people were treated is true. Not so much in the Northern States , but in the south it was a lot like the book.

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from Story Origin. This is my voluntary review.
A full length novel prequel introducing Shona. A girl running from her past. 1950 small town prejudices. Sticky subjects. Women,LGBDQ, poverty, race. Very well told. Lots of feels.
The narration was easy to understand and contributed to my enjoyment.

The first of a wonderfully written trilogy by Jones and Hackney of life in the American South of the 1950's. The reader will experience the struggles of the time for women, people of color, poverty and the LGBTQ community. I couldn't put them down, yet didn't want the story to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn’t put it down

Today was the first chance I had to read this brilliant book since publication day and I’ve devoured it in a day!

Shona is a fantastic character and it was wonderful to spend time with her again. Both her story – and that of the supporting characters – drive the plot forwards so that you constantly want to read ‘one more chapter’. This story has so much heart, yet the writers do not shy away from tackling some pretty strong subjects.

The writing is flawless and so evocative of 1950s America and I am in awe of the way this book is written as a complete narrative in itself, yet it gives away none of the secrets of the second book.

Absolutely loved it. Now, do I reread Meet Me at 10 or skip straight to The Beach House?

3.0 out of 5 stars A small town drama
Reviewed in Australia on February 15, 2020
This is the story of Shona a young lady who is on the run from her past. I enjoyed reading about Shona’s struggles as she tried to settle into the new town. The characters were well written - I wanted Dorothy to be my granny! These authors know how to write dialogue, the world they created was set in the 50’s with the small minded country mentality that goes with that period.

This is the prequel of Meet me at 10 but I read Shona first. I didn’t know it was a prequel until after I read it. My first thought was, the authors didn’t tell me enough about Shona’s background except to imply there was some horribleness that happened. But when I discovered it was prequel, I guess it made sense as Book 2 must have more detail about Shona’s background.

I did enjoy this book and would recommend it to people interested in drama.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Team Hackney & Jones
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 23, 2019
Having read and enjoyed Meet Me at 10, I was looking forward to reading the prequel, Shona. Once again a well written page turner and a thoroughly enjoyable read. Great characters and it does not matter in which order you read the first two books. This book leads you neatly into Meet Me at 10 but it also hooks nicely into The Beach House which I am now really looking forward to reading.

I really liked the fact that the first few chapters of Meet Me at 10 were included at the end of the book so that those of us who have already read it can have a quick recap.

These ladies really know how to produce novels of the highest standard. Keep up the good work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travel Shona`s Journey
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 26, 2019
I was so happy when the Prequel to Meet Me At 10 was announced. I am now in a quandary - do I re-read it, or do I leap straight to The Beach House?
Anyway. Shona. What another amazing read for me, AND what an introduction for those who have yet to read any Claire Hackney & Vicky Jones stories. You, my friends, weave such exciting tales, characters with depth, and so much historical detail that it takes you along Shona`s journey as if you are right by her side.
Invest in the Trilogy. I promise you will not be disappointed.

*my review of Meet Me At 10 is on line, no doubt along with many others*

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous prequel
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 15, 2019
I haven't put this book down since this morning, I even cooked tea while reading it (and ate tea while swiping the pages on my Kindle). I was a huge, huge fan of Meet Me at Ten, and it's been so good to read Shona's backstory, and I can't wait to see what happens in The Beach House. In a world where so many books have become same-y, this is one trilogy that I can honestly say, I've never read anything like it before. Well written, interesting characters that you'll either cheer for or despise. Well done Vicky and Claire, another winner!
