Lots of pops and creaks…
I got the 3G Cardio 80i Fold Flat treadmill after much consternation and investigation. The things that drew me to the 80i were its form factor, warranty, and deck size. I was considering the Echelon Stride, a BOTORRO R5 , and a Sunny Health model but their motor size and warranties didn’t give me warm fuzzies. I didn’t care as much about its lack of technology because I was moving up from a walking pad that didn’t have any either. I live on the third floor of an apartment building, so noise was a key consideration as well. The width and height still allows me to move it around to different rooms if I need to without disassembling it as it will fit through a standard interior doorway when folded flat.It had a strap across the deck holding things together. There is a locking screw that was supposed to be in place to lock the deck to the incline mechanism but that wasn’t in place. I ran out and got a set of large furniture gliders to put under the front motor area while it was standing on end. This allowed me to move it from my dining room to the second bedroom where it will likely stay.I started it up and let it run a couple minutes without any load to see if the belt needed adjusting. Seeing the belt was fine I ran it up to 11 mph and back down as well as raised the incline up to the max and back down. Everything seemed to be in order until I got on it and began walking and it started popping and creaking. I thought maybe it needed some break-in time so I walked on it for about 30 minutes. The next few days I was able to workout outdoors so I didn’t get back to it immediately. Over the next 10 days or so I put over 8 hours on it. I inspected everything visually and couldn’t find a source for all the creaks and pops. I went back and forth with Bryan at 3G Cardio in an email exchange and he didn’t think it was anything that was going to damage the treadmill so I’ve continued to use it. I do notice that when it starts to pop and creak if I raise the incline sometimes it stops creaking for a bit. I even removed the plastic motor cover and inspected everything inside and could find nothing pointing to the excessive noise. I have lubed the deck once as well and that hasn’t impacted the noise.I don’t believe the pops and creaks can be heard by my neighbors it’s just more of an annoyance to me. I jog and walk on it multiple times a week and other than the pops and creaks, I haven’t had any issues with it and I have over 55 hours logged on it since October 2023.2/29/24 Update. The treadmill stopped working and displayed error Er07 indicating the safety key was missing. I found the standoffs that hold the safety key slot in place were broken off. I’ve never attached the safety key to myself so it must have been broken from the factory or the excessive heat from the console keys caused it to fail. I have a ticket open with support and they are supposed to be sending a new console.
