What would you do if you woke up to a different life?
Because that’s what happened to me.
Woke up in a hospital bed with my family and friends telling me everything I knew was nothing more than a coma-induced dream.

The girl I love. The baby we’re having . . . all of it ripped away.
In their place is a house I don’t recognize and a girl I’ve never seen before who’s claiming she’s my fiancée.

To everyone around me, it’s clear my mind twisted around my real life to create a false one. As weeks pass and a few crucial memories return, it’s easy to see they’re right. Now I’m terrified about what I’ll learn next.

The last thing I remember before waking up in the hospital was losing the girl I loved and breaking her heart. Even though it’s the one thing no one can connect to my real life, it’s the one thing I can feel is true.
But I’ve just started falling in love with my fiancée all over again, and I’ll do anything to keep that memory from turning into my reality.

Molly grew up in California but now lives with her husband and daughter in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody and dishing out movie quotes with her hubby. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and loves curling up in a fluffy blanket during a thunderstorm . . . or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

Stealing Chances is a book I didn't know I needed. I was nervous to read this one, especially once I got a few chapters in. It was nothing like I expected. But I was happy with how everything turned out. Taking Chances is one of my favorite love triangle books and Chase was always my favorite character of that book. I loved seeing him get his happy ending. I think Molly McAdams did his story justice and what a creative way to write it! I'm glad I went in blind, and I encourage you to as well!

This story wasn't too shabby. I don't usually enjoy amnesia tropes, but this one worked nicely. Our Hero is in an accident, and he wakes up having no memory of his fiance AT ALL, but other memories of his best friend's wife, believing she was his wife instead. This scenario created a lot of angsty goodness, but also created a lot of suspicion wondering if the Hero had ever cheated on his heroine in the past. Plus there was bit of mystery within this story as well. I was engrossed until the ending. so I'm pretty happy with this story. Breezing through the other reviews here, I guess these characters are in another story by this author too. Kind of makes me want to go back and read the other story now.

I totally forgot about this book coming out and to be honest, I was excited about reading it. However, amnesia is a tricky plot and I'm not sure Chase got the better deal.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Scarlet for him but I think the romance bottomed out to the amnesia plot. And as if that wasn't enough, there was a bit of a mystery going on with a twist.

I'm just really torn...Taking Chances messed me up. I was soo angry about what happened! I even read Stealing Harper (same story as the first book but from Chase's POV.) to try to get some clarity or at least a better understanding but it didn't really help. And I haven't read another Molly McAdams book until this one...if that helps explain things.

To be fair, it's not that I'm against Molly McAdams, I just don't think my heart can take that again and I'm afraid to take a chance. Even us emotional book junkies have our limits. 😉

First things first... Valerie, (I'm not talking to myself, she's a friend and fellow bookworm, and she is responsible for this in every way. I didn't even know who Molly McAdams or Chase Grayson were before she introduced us.) please don't read this review until after you've read this book. We both know how you feel about spoilers.

Now, what did I think of this book?? That is what I have been trying to figure out since I read it. I read the book in less than 24 hours, but it's taken me two weeks to try to pinpoint exactly how I feel and try to put it all into words. All I know is I don't usually write harsh reviews, and I'm afraid this review is going to be as raw as my emotions were.

I've seen a couple of other reviews using the word "torn", and I have to say, that's pretty accurate. There is a definite dichotomy in my head and heart. I feel very strongly pulled in two different directions, and I have never had a book make me feel so bi-polar. My head and my heart are very torn, and usually when that happens it's because they're on opposite sides of the argument, but this time they are in complete agreement, and it all hinges on which perspective I take to view this story.

With that in mind, I've decided to write this review from both perspectives -- as a brand new story, blocking out all the history I have with these characters as if Taking Chances didn't happen, and as a continuation of Taking Chances, still reeling from all the emotions that book made me feel. Believe me it changes everything.

If you have not read Taking Chances... then this book (Stealing Chances) is a lovely story. Great writing. Great characters. Lots of feelings. Well edited. Great pace. It's a good read! 4.5 stars in my opinion. It's a story about fighting for true love and winning. Chase Grayson is willing to do that, and so is his fiance. They had a hell of a mountain to climb, and lots of heartbreaking hurdles along the way, but their happy ending is everything it should be.

*** Warning - Spoilers and RAW emotion ahead for both Taking Chances and Stealing Chances ***

If you have not read this book yet, but you have read Taking Chances and you were like me - raw, DEVASTATED, haunted, unable to move on - you may want to stop here because I am not responsible for what I say from here. My emotions are driving this vehicle, I'm just along for the ride.

This book makes me cuss. As sad, devastated, angry, and raw as I felt reading Taking Chances. I'm right back there again. At this point, I'm honestly not sure what game this author is playing, but I don't like it. Here's why:

This Chase Grayson is not the same. He doesn't feel the same AT ALL. His vibe is different. The emotions I get reading his thoughts, words, actions...different. He's watered down, and he deserves better.

Chase Grayson only belongs to Harper. He only belongs with Harper. Any other storyline is BULLSH*T. Period. I said what I said.

The Facebook post I read announcing this book being a surprise release said this was 10 years in the making, and it's fixing things or righting wrongs. THIS BOOK DID NOT FIX SH*T.

Chase deserved better.

THIS is not Chase's story. I refuse to accept that THIS is how it goes.

Taking Chances didn't just give me a book hangover. It haunted me for 10 years. No other book has EVER made me feel the range of emotions I felt. And no other book has stuck with me the way that one has. Then that one abrupt, heart-wrenching scene changed everything, and only one thing would have made it right. This book didn't deliver. So as a sequel to Taking Chances... zero stars.

The only thing this book did was make me wonder WHY in the hell I have spent 10 years mourning the loss of Chase Grayson, grieving for the life he wanted with Harper that was ripped away at the worst possible time, in the worst possible manner. Who the hell hurt Molly McAdams?? Because she is has a gift, but she tried to kill me with Taking Chances, and for what?? Why cause all that heartbreak only to be like "haha just kidding" ten freaking years later??? Unforgivable. It feels like everything from their love story, to the emotions of your readers, to the loyalty of your fans was completely disrespected. If you thought readers were unhappy with you before... breaking us, leaving us broken for 10 years, letting this HAUNT us for that long, then erasing an ENTIRE relationship... not okay. Super sadistic though.

I know it's impossible to please everyone. I know that the story and characters are owned by the author to do with as they please, but I can't help but feel like they also belong to each reader in their own way. And I know that these characters and stories are works of fiction. But, this literally could have gone in so many directions. I'm not sure why this is the direction you chose. I feel played. Lied to and used. Because you knew dangling a second chance with Chase would cash in, but this isn't what I bargained for. Your readers didn't deserve a bait and switch followed by a sucker punch, and that's exactly how I feel. Like everything about Taking Chances and Chase Grayson was just vandalized.

Sometimes things are better left as they were, and Taking Chances is the one book I never thought I'd say that about.

This was the best surprise drop.

I started this series going into college while travelling through Ecuador.

I sopped in a bus full of people & shared it along the way.

Years later I’m still obsessed with Chase, and hurt by how molly did us dirty.

Was this the I redemption expected? No but I loved every minute of it.

Ps. Chase is still be ultimate BF.

I can't do it. I attempted to read it but it's just not possible for me.

There's only been a few books that have stayed with me for years after only reading once that I both loved and tore my heart out. Taking Chances/Stealing Harper was the first time I experienced that.

Although, I usually go in blind I could not with this. (Like I physically couldn't help myself.) I read the epilogue and immediately knew I wasn't going to read the entire book. From just that epilogue I wanted to bawl my eyes out AND I felt like I was gonna puke. I would NEVER give this 1 star because I know so many people are going to love this. In fact, I've only given a Molly McAdams book less than 5 stars once and it was to Taking Chances. Again, its me not the book.

So, I'm writing this simply for myself. Please don't listen to me when it comes to reading it or not. What I saw will make an amazing story for many. Just not me.

I am so torn as this was not what I expected and I don't know how I feel about it. I am glad that Chase gets his HEA but I feel like this alternate version takes away from Chase and Harper. I only gave TC 3* when I read it because I just couldn't get past what happened to Chase; it destroyed me. Then Stealing Harper gutted me as it truly was unbearable reading everything from Chase's POV. I will always love Chase and Harper so I guess I needed this book for some sort of closure but would have preferred a different alternate reality than this. Maybe in a couple days after thinking about it I will feel differently but having just finished it this is how I feel right now......

Holy surprise release!!! When I saw Molly drop this book out of nowhere I made sure to finish my current read as quickly as possible. Getting an alternative universe where Chase is alive? SIGN ME UP!!!

𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐝𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐓𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡.

But wait…this is the version I wanted. Or was it?

“𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞. 𝐀𝐦𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐫.

This is my second amnesia trope book in 2 weeks and my emotions are destroyed. But my heart is full.

“𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐈 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝.”

No other author can make me cry like Molly. Many have come close, but only she can make a waterfall fall from my eyes. Just throw everything you thought you knew and experienced in Taking Chances and Stealing Harper to form something special.

“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈’𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡,” 𝐈 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝. “𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈’𝐦 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐭𝐞𝐧-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈’𝐦 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭.”

It was full of tears and twists with an epic conclusion for our favorite guy and now my new favorite Molly heroine

Taking Chances is one of my favorite books, even if it gutted me…honestly, it still does. I was both excited and nervous to read this as I didn't know what to expect. I read it….and I'm torn.

My stomach was in knots from the beginning. I was devastated for Chase, and myself for personal reasons. At the same time, my heart broke for Scarlet.

Chase wakes up in the hospital and is told the memories he has aren't true and he's left to put the pieces together of a life he doesn't remember.

There was some romance but the story mostly focuses on Chase and his amnesia with a little suspense thrown in.

This Chase Grayson felt different, he was not my Chase. I ended up separating the two. Or, maybe it was my mind not able to cope with more loss when it comes to Chase. This book would have been another loss. I had to separate them.

I enjoyed (this) Chase's journey. In the end, he gets a beautiful happy ever after. Again, this is not my Chase from Taking Chances/Stealing Harper….or even the Chase, Liam lived under the shadow of in Trusting Liam.

I could say more, but I don't want to give anything away, especially if you've not read Taking Chances. This was an interesting and compelling story. The idea to create an alternative reality and show how making changes has a ripple effect was creative. So, I see what you did there, Molly McAdams....not funny.

OMG, I LOVED THIS ALTERNATE UNIVERSE FOR CHASE AND HARPER!

Taking Chances was a book that absolutely GUTTED me! G-U-T-T-E-D. I mean I cried so hard, that my husband thought there was something seriously wrong with me. LOL. So I was a little apprehensive about diving into Stealing Chances. I should have known not to start the book at 11 PM. Because I found myself almost in the same situation as Taking Chances, trying to keep my eyes open at 4:30 am to finish the book (I did fall asleep but not by choice.)

Beware - this book will move you in ways that Taking Chances did - but I loved every minute of it.
I can't really say more without giving away MAJOR plot points. All I can say is BRAVA MOLLY! So so so good! This book brought me back to the early days of reading - I just couldn't put the book down.

NEEDED this closure!!!

I was traumatized by Taking Chances because I was team chase. When I first read it, when chapter 13 happened, I remember thinking that I wanted Harper to wake up and it be a dream. I’m so happy Molly gave us this alternate ending because I can finally move on passed my two year book hangover!!! This book was definitely closure that I NEEDED!

Oh snap! I love this series, and until 2 days ago, I had no idea this last book, an ALTERNATIVE ending, existed! Loved it, BUT even though there's heartbreak, I like the original ending better. However, I enjoyed exploring this other option.....very....different. I love this series and all her books, really.

as a fiercely loyal Team Chase and Harper Taking Chances fan, let me say that i LOVED this book.

i don’t know how Molly did it, but it felt like this was how Chase’s story was meant to be all along.

that he was meant for Scarlet from the very beginning.

now and forever will I be Team Chase and Scarlet.

This was not bad. I haven’t read the previous ones in the series, where apparently this hero is in love with that heroine and she chooses another man, and he dies. So I suppose this is some kind of alternate universe where this hero doesn’t die and he never pursues that heroine. He wakes up after a nasty accident where he remembers nothing of his life n the past two years, while he thinks he’s in love and having a child with his bff wife, that is the heroine of the previous book. Sadly for him, he’s engaged to another woman he doesn’t even remember, the heroine of this book, and everyone is surprised that he thinks he was in love with that other woman. He is quite grumpy and nasty and treats the heroine very bad, and she’s very patient, knowing he’s been concussed. I suppose the concussion messed with his brain and now he made up memories that are false. That is, he remembers things he did with the heroine but he remembers as if he did them with ow. Everyone is stunned and a bit puzzled, the heroine is shattered because who would want to find out their boyfriend not only does not remember them but is also very sure he’s in love with another woman.
They go back home, they live ogether and I think the heroine was very brave to stay even when he obviously didn’t want her there.
I admit the book is made very well on the psychological pov, she made her research about it. It is possible to make up memories, especially after some trauma, to protect the mind from further traumas.
There’s an element of suspense here, because as days go by the hero realizes he feels something for the heroine and nothing for the woman he thinks he’s in love with, and he starts having the idea he did something very bad before the accident, something so bad that he wanted to remove not only what he did but also the heroine because he knew it would kill her, and maybe them.
He begins to suspect he might have cheated on the heroine, and is afraid of what he could find out.
Eventually all is well, and the big drama was actually not so big at all, and when it is revealed, we can breath easily.
This couple was really good, the hero is a faithful and committed fiancé and they were going to be married.
He behaves a bit like an azzhole when he thinks he’s in love with ow, and there’s a lot of angst both for him and for the heroine, but of course the whole thing was due to his accident and trauma, so I couldn’t really blame him. He was as much frustrated as she was, not being able to remember and remembering things that were not real to anyone but for him they were his real past. It’s really what happens in some accidents and the author did a very good job with it.
The suspense was good but actually not a lot of drama. There’s a mention of a past rape that the heroine went through and it was quite bad, I don’t know why the author put it in the story.
Anyway it is quite a good book and I’ve enjoyed it.

Chase freakin’ Grayson is back.

I never ever thought that we would get to read about Chase again, considering everything that happened with him and Harper in Taking Chances and reading his devastating fate at the end of Stealing Harper. But y’all, when I tell you I opened Facebook and saw that Molly surprise released Stealing Chances and that it was Chase, back from the dead and living a different life than we all saw? I quite literally, in the middle of a regular conversation with my sister, yelled out “no the fuck she did not!” And immediately one clicked it.

Let me tell y’all from my perspective, Molly did not disappoint me. I know a lot of people are probably upset about this release given the way we all suffered over chapter 13, but I devoured this book and think it’s absolute perfection. If you’ve read Taking Chances, then you know the tragic way that Chase dies, which means you also sobbed your way through the ending of Stealing Harper.

When Chase wakes up disoriented and in immense pain, in a hospital bed, what he thought was the life he was so very close to leaving, is not his life at all. The girl claiming to be his fiancé is not the one from his coma-induced memories, and the one who he thought he loved? She’s married to his best friend, someone who he considers his brother. The memories he has of everyone else? They’re from that time, two years ago. The first thing he says to his sister is about her hair being different. Luckily, he remembers his friends and family, just not the woman he was planning to spend the rest of his life with.

Part of the mystery of this story is wondering what it was Chase was doing right before the accident that should have killed him. Did he cheat on the woman he’s slowly falling back in love with? Did he do the things he’s remembering piece by piece? And when the person banging on the glass in his head finally breaks it, will what he finds out wreck him to the core?

To say this is one of the books I’d recommend to anyone is not a lie. I sometimes talk to random strangers and end up handing them pieces of scrap paper with a list of my favorite authors and Molly is always on that list. Seriously, one click this book right now, but if you want the full effect that the rest of us got? Buy Taking Chances and Stealing Harper first, along with a box or five of tissues.

I loved it so much, but it also made me really sad for the other Chase

This book was so much better and so much just more than Taking Chances. Chase got so many more chances in this one. In his words he was stealing chances by this point. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen and didn't expect the twists and turns. There were so many similarities that turned into clues that I of course didn't pick up on and loved them anyway. The symbols, meanings, and all things between the two different books and worlds made it so interesting. I was just waiting for more to be revealed. I loved this book, but since I just reread Taking Chances, I can tell you I didn't love it, I just liked it compared to this version. Especially this version of Chase's life. You need to read Taking Chances before reading this book to understand all the confusion and it might not be what you expect and a happily ever after for everybody, but keep reading it!! It all does make sense especially when you're reading this reality. I just wish it was true for Chase like I'm sure a lot of people have the same thoughts and wishes for his fictitious life. I did not read Stealing Harper besides the sample that I got from Amazon. I was going to buy it if I needed to, but since I was in such a mood from finishing Taking Chances I debated if I wanted to essentially read it again only for the same thing to happen then be untrue in this book. Once I started Stealing Chances and thought about it I realized it didn't necessarily matter if I read that book or not since it was a whole new reality. Definitely recommend!! But read Taking Chances first!

Taking Chances is one of my favorite books. I have very few 5 stars and that is one of them. Although I love Brandon I was always team Chase I don't know why, because I love Brandon. Ok back on topic. So I finally bit the bullet and listened to this book and let me just say Chapter 1 was gutting me. I was struggling with this new reality that was being presented to me. But I kept going and I started to really fall hard for Chase & Scar. I started to love the characters and this new universe. Some aspects made me sad, like yes there is a Liam but he's not our Liam and what about Kennedy and my mind went in so many directions. Ok sorry I'm back, Chase & Scar, I really liked how the author helped Chase come to terms with his memories. I liked see EVERYONE we loved from Taking Chances in this story. I realize this was an alternate universe but being with Chase and seeing him struggle and work to be apart of this new life he's been given was a ride I would take again. In fact I've already recommended this book to others who I conned into reading TC. Either way Scar was a fantastic character and there were so many times that TC was incorporated into this book that I really did enjoy listening to it. Overall I would recommend this book to all TC readers and I do like that there is a disclaimer in the beginning shouting out that this is an alternate universe. I will re-read this but TC is still my favorite. Thank you Molly for giving Chase a second chance. I miss him and I love him with Scar.

YES! Molly brought us back to Taking Chances and I am so here for it. If you read my Taking Chances review, you would know that Taking Chances is my all time favorite book, brought me to tears and pull my heartstrings from the start.

I could easily spend all day on this series. So any who, back to this book. It was Chase and Harper until Chase woke up. Chase had just been through a major car accident and is luckily to have gotten away with the few injuries he does have. Chase doesn't care though, he doesn't want this random lady next to him, he doesn't want his family, he just wants Harper.

But there is no Harper. Instead it's all lie. Harper did still marry Brandon, his parents and sister are the same. But the woman next to him is a stranger. But she's wearing that ring he saved for Harper, instead it's not Harper that he's engaged to.

Chase and Scarlet are both home now, but Chase doesn't remember her, his mind created this other world and things are hard and who knows how long it'll take for things to return to normal.

There are moments where your heart will be ripped out of you and just when you stitch it back in, Molly rips it right back out! Chase and Scarlet are facing a hard road in their relationship right now. From taking a ring, to a break in, stalker, and finally falling back in love.

This is everything you expect from Molly and more. A great revisit to Taking Chances world and I loved every moment of it.

This is an alternate Universe story—it's part of a trilogy that involved a love (hate 'em) triangle (m/f/m) between best friends vying for one girl. I didn't read those books, but I read the reviews so I have the gist of their history together.

In this story, the hero has ben in a serious accident and as a result has amnesia, he doesn't recognize his fiancée but he strongly believes he's in a relationship with his best friend's wife and it gets heated between best friends. His friends try to accommodate his new reality but it is taxing on everybody.

The hero keeps his fiancée at arms length and insists upon sleeping in separate bedrooms when he returns to their shared home, it's hurtful to her but she is determined to be there for him. As time passes, she realizes she'll have to cancel the wedding and I believe he takes the engagement ring from her. She's devastated but still isn't ready to give up.

Eventually, they start over and though they are on the road to something new, the hero has glimpses of something in his past that might hurt her. When he puts the pieces together, he is sure he's going to lose his fiancée. When the final pivotal moment happens, the heroine is in a state of disbelief and if this person hadn't essentially confessed I'm not sure if she would have believed her fiancé and I found that very disturbing in light of all the information at her disposal. Highly Recommended: Read It!

This is an alternate look at what happens when Chase wakes up from his accident. Instead of dying, like in the other books in this series, he is alive and confused because he believes he was in love with Harper. When Scarlet, his fiance' and his friends, including Brandon, have to let him know that his memories are false, there is a lot of devastation that Scarlet has to get through. Chase is understandably confused and has a hard time getting his brain on track. I will say that I read the first book in this series when it came out 11 years ago. I was gutted by it and was glad to get an alternate ending in this one. I didn't think Scarlet should have kept some of the big things she did from Chase. He needed to know what their life was like and she refused to let him know. That, understandably, got confusing. He knew that he needed to let her go if she wanted because he didn't know her in his new reality. I did like how he would start to open up to finding out new things. He didn't always go about it the right way, but he did try and get his memory back. I did like Scarlet and found her to be a great match for him. Although her defense of her friends and their bad behavior did lead to some of the issues in this book. If Chase was complaining about them, she needed to acknowledge that his feelings were also valid. She didn't do that and it was a costly error. Overall I liked this book a lot.

Not what I was expecting but it was a good book

The book itself was very well written and it was very good as a standalone if I had never read the first two books in the series. I have given it five stars because it was a very good book and had a wonderful storyline and I liked the characters very much. I really hate to do this because I'm going to throw a but in there... For ten years now, I have kept the memory of Chase and how he died in my head as the most tragic loss of a book character. I've felt the raw emotion from Harper's POV and from Chase's POV of the loss, grief and the pain especially from Harper's POV of losing Chase and then falling for Brandon in the end. I was really hoping for Chase and Harper's love story to have had a HEA. Those two characters were made for each other. Perhaps Brandon and Scarlett should have been destined for a HEA together in a different book with a twist. I just feel as though Chase and Harper were star crossed lovers in a whole different world I guess. Great book Molly as I am always a fan. In the end, Chase's death still guts me today when I think about Taking Chances and Stealing Harper but this alternative universe book was a nice read.

Stealing Chances was a novel that I picked up because McAdams is going to be one of the authors at the Sweetgrass event. I've been determined to read at least one book from every author that's going to be there. I also want to start buying up some books that I know I really want to get signed by the authors so I'm not stuck buying them all at the venue next year. This book is technically part of a series by McAdams, but it is kind of like a book that is told in an alternate universe from the first book, I think. I'm pretty sure the first book is the actual story between Chase and Harpe, then the second book was Chase's point of view during that first book, and then this book is an alternate reality where Chase and Harper never got together. I was obsessed with Scarlet, and this book was intense! The book picks up right after the accident, and we see Chase in a coma, just waking up, and all of the heartbreak when he can't remember Scarlet or their lives together. It was crazy seeing their story play out, and I was obsessed with this book! I really need to read the first book that is the other reality because I want to figure out which version I like more because I really don't see how Harper is going to beat Scarlet. This book was amazing!

Do it....Spoilers ahead

Ok so I was TERRIFIED to read this. Chase was one of those that just stuck you know? It was traumatic and life changing and I have NEVER grieved for a character the way I grieved and was still grieving 10 years later over him. And when I got to the Lillie's, I was like God no please don't because I just knew it would ruin everything........
You guys.....OMG YOU GUYS!!!!!
Molly is so f bomb amazing.....like there isn't a word to describe how AMAZING she is. I have full 1000000000000% confidence that no one could have done this story as well as she did. She kept my love and heartbreak in tact for chase, AND made me fall in love with Scarlett as well....I just knew I was gonna hate the other woman, knew I would loathe hearing anything that was not him and Harper.....I was so wrong.....Molly took that belief and slapped me in the back of the head and was like "how dare you doubt me!?!?!?" Lol anyway, if you're like me and are as terrified as I was it will take a minute but guys, by chapter 2 I couldn't put it down. I was up reading when I had to be up in an hour for work.....she is amazing this book is amazing and go read it hurry!!!!!!

I fell in LOVE with Chase many many years ago when I read Taking Chances and was destroyed by the infamous chapter 13. When I read Stealing Harper, what was left of my heart was utterly decimated!!

So after 10 years of heartbreak every time I thought of Chase and his fate, Molly dropped this alternate universe where he’s doesn’t die?!

I went into this book expecting one thing and got something completely different. I was blindsided with Chase in the beginning and it took me a minute to except this new reality. But no matter what happened I was ecstatic that Chase was alive and the new love interest Scarlet was perfect for him! She stood by his side every step of the way no matter what his “memory” threw at them.

I’m so glad that Chase is alive and he got the HEA that he deserved, even though it was a story I wasn’t expecting going in. It was a story that my destroyed heart needed to heal! I loved every minute of this journey with Chase and Scarlet and this book has now become my new favorite!

I have wanted a story around Chase since I finished Taking Chances back in 2012. I wasn't sure how Molly was going to be able to top Taking Chances but somehow she managed to give me exactly what I didn't even know I needed.

After all these years of wondering and wishing for a different outcome, she's managed to give Chase the best possible story, one with all of the original characters, witty comments, easy banter between the characters (specifically Brandon and Chase), and of course the highly missed steamy Chase moments.

I counldn't have loved this alternate ending more, I experienced every possible emotion as I read this one and I found myself feeling so sad as I reached the end. This is a storyline I could have continued to read forever.

Molly McAdams is my favourite author and I will always recommend her books to others, If you've read Taking Chances you won't want to miss Stealing Chances.

I was not expecting this and what a nice surprise it was! So, this book literally picks up where we lost Chase years ago. It was just as devastating now as it was then because we know that all this happened with Harper. To see him struggle with everyone telling him that it is not true, that his memories were not what they seemed was hard. Watching Scarlet cope with his treatment was hard as well. She was a very strong character to put up with his antics and it was so heartbreaking and cringe worthy. I wanted to come through the book a few times and smack him! As the story progressed, he did begin to redeem himself as his memories became clearer. The whole twist was a little shocking but not surprising. I had a feeling it was someone we were not going to suspect, and she always seemed to “eager” to give her opinion to Scarlet. This book left me satisfied with the conclusion of Chase’s story because believe me, Taking Chances completely shattered me! Glad that we were able to get a second chance.

Oh my Chase!! I didn’t even know how badly I needed this story!! I will always remember the night I read “that scene” in Taking Chances. It was one of those moments where I stopped reading for a second thinking no, no no no no, my brain did not read that right and reread it and literally broke down in tears. I somehow woke my husband up and he was looking at me like I had lost my mind. It tore my heart apart!! Almost to the point I didn’t want to finish the series, but I’m glad I did! It’s still a book I recommend to friends with a disclaimer lol
Chase is a character who stayed with me all these years later and to get this story, his story, his happily ever after….yeah I definitely needed it!! If you’ve ever dreamt of more Chase then this is a must read! No matter your thoughts on him, Brandon and Harpers love triangle!!! You won’t be disappointed
