It's nice and sharp and a great lens to shoot with. I normally use Canon FD lenses adapted to the A7, so manual focus is not a big deal to me. Neither is manual aperture control. If you just want a mount and forget lens though, with auto everything, this is for sure not the lens for you. If you want a quality lens and aren't afraid to go manual, buy this now.
The only issue is the weird distortion it has which shows up in some shots, depending on the subject. You can use the Samyang lens profile for a Canon camera in Adobe Camera Raw to get rid of it though. Kind of a pain, but not needed for most shots.
All in all a really good lens. It's much sharper on the edges and corners than my FD17mm f4.0 that I paid a little more for.
So what are you waiting for. It's super wide, nice and sharp, and cheap. Go ahead. Buy it.
Cons: Heavy, the focusing ring has a very long range and its hard to tell when to stop (although the sony a7 helps you with focusing assistance when the lens is not Sony, andit shows you with color what part of the image is focused), You cannot put any filter on the top of the lens because it has a huge "bulby" cristal, buy that is not a big problem for me. The lens take great pictures but when talking about architecture, it work great because it lets you see a lot, but it generates a distortion , son the linear get a little curve, but dont worry you can correct this in lightroom and it looks amazing.
The picture quality is fairly good. The lens is reasonably sharp at the price point. The lens loses a lot of contrast depending on the relationship of the direction of light. If the light is coming from the side, you'll lose a little bit of contrast. Forget backlit shots. For nigh photography, this won't be a problem unless your dealing with a streetlight, but maybe that can be used for effect also. This lens won't replace your usual walkaround lens. Its a niche lens for sure, whether it be night / astro photography or extreme wide angle.
The lens also so show purple color frindging towards the far edges of the frame. It can be noticeable.
The build quality is pretty good, somewhat tank like, but you won't mistake this lens for a sony or canon quality. Its a manual lens so you can set the aperture with the aperture rings that feels relatively smooth. The zoom is smooth but it take a huge turn and a half to zoom from one end of the range to the other. It's actually hard to figure out if you are properly focused because , due to the wide angle, its in focus most of the zoom range.
Keep in mind this is a budget wide angle, so at the price point, it delivers pretty well. I'm not sure I would use it on a daily basis for something like landscape photography. However for night / astro, this is a great value.
I will update this review after I take a few astro photos with it.
UPDATE: I've used this lens on several occasions to photograph the milky way at night. Lens works well, I set the lens wide open F2.8 and focus to infinity. For my particular camera, I use a 30 second exposure at ISO3200 and get pretty good shots every time.

The price is very good for what you get and I do recommend this 14 mm lens
I use a Sony A7 II camera.
The E-mount adapter is built in. Very convenient.
Can not attach any filters to the front of lens.
No auto focus.
A little hard to focus. I use the distance markings on the barrel of the lens to focus. This seems to be the most accurate way to focus this lens. Works best in well lite conditions.
The only draw back for me is, the resolution on large enlargements is questionable (11 x 14 or larger) or aggressive cropping. The resolution suffers.
A top quality lens that is comparable to this would cost $1800 CND and this lens costed me $329 + tx CND.
This lens is a fun and creative lens at a very reasonable price.

Pros:
- Cheap
- Amazon has it with Prime
- it's an ultrawide
- it's f/2.8
Cons:
- Focusing doesn't work anything like you'd expect. On any other ultrawide lens, at f/8 with focus set to infinity or even 3m or 2m, everything is sharp and in focus. Not on this lens. At focus set to 1.5m, the foreground is in focus, corners are sharp, but the distance is slightly blurry. At focus set to 2m or anything further, the corners are smeared looking. There's no winning with this.
- Very heavy
- Very large
- Build quality is abysmal, things don't line up on the aperture and focus rings
- Massive front element that restricts filter options
- No electronic communication with the camera
- No advanced coatings on the elements, so flare is prevalent, contrast is low, along with lots of chromatic aberrations and even coma
- Horrible mustache distortion that can't fully be corrected
Bottom line: You really do get what you pay for with this. If you've shelled out the money for a hyper advanced full frame mirrorless E-mount camera, get lenses that match that, rather than this.
