Perfect Pitch

Rate this book
Moving to the city after persuading my single mother to let me cash in my college fund was a decision I didn't make lightly. I knew I possessed the qualities to conquer the New York music scene. Forget being a rockstar; as a DJ, I can utilize my nimble fingers and haunting voice to ascend to the top.

I hold an unshakeable belief in myself, just as surely as I know my own name—Austyn Kensington. This opportunity presents itself as my chance to leave behind the emotional scars that have haunted me since childhood.

As my voice echoes throughout the city, I ascend to the position of queen of clubs—a sensation that drowns out the doubters of my past. The future glistens before me, radiant as the spotlights illuminating the dance floor. I am prepared to embrace every aspect of it.

However, one fateful night, Mitchell Clifton enters my life—a dark and brooding presence that disrupts the carefully orchestrated rhythm I have established. Beyond his ridiculous handsomeness and unwavering vigilance, he possesses the ability to upheave every facet of my existence. Maybe it’s because we were complete opposites. Or maybe it is because he happens to be the older brother of my closest friend in the city.

Mitch flawlessly unearths the depths of my being, compelling me to expose my vulnerabilities. Our first kiss etches itself into my memory—an intense moment that bares my soul down to its core. Our bodies move in perfect synchronicity, kindling a passion that I have never before experienced.

There are billions of reasons that could have dissuaded Mitch from pursuing me. However, it is none of them that drive me away. Instead, fate unveils an alternative plan—a twisted life lesson that hurls my life—and my music—into an unforeseen direction.

Mitch seeks vengeance, but in my fractured state, I’m rendered indifferent.

After all, what have I really learned except nothing about love is perfect?

Perfect Pitch is the emotionally charged finale to the Midas Series. In this standalone romance, you’re going to be introduced to an alpha hero who works for a billionaire and a sassy, determined heroine—the product of being an unexpected baby herself—with a fondness for dying her hair. These two opposites attract despite emotional scars from both their pasts and the age gap that lies between them.

Along their path to redemption, their forbidden love is riddled with angst, physical and emotional injury, and sends this sunny woman into a tailspin when this grumpy bodyguard rejects her to save her.

Tracey Jerald knew she was meant to be a writer when she would re-write the ending of books in her head on her bike when she was a young girl growing up in southern Connecticut. It wasn’t long before she was typing alternate endings and extended epilogues “just for fun.”
After college in Florida, where she obtained a degree in Criminal Justice swearing she saw things she’ll never quite believe and never entirely forget, Tracey traded the world of law and order for IT. Her work for a global internet startup transferred her to Northern Virginia where she met her husband in what many call their own happily ever after. They have one son.

Perfect Pitch: A Billionaire Alpha Hero Rockstar Romance (Midas Series Book 7) by Tracey Jerald is related to Perfect Composition: A Small Town Rockstar Romance (Midas Series Book 3). Perfect Pitch is about Austyn, the daughter of the main characters Paige, a pediatric audiologist, and Beckett, a renowned rockstar. The book Perfect Pitch can be read as a standalone, as enough information is woven into the
story to fill in the blanks. It could be a duet with Perfect Composition as the storyline is seamless as the events are from different characters’ points of view. There is drama, romance, and intrigue in finding out who Beckett’s stalker is since the new target becomes Austyn, his daughter. I cried I laughed, and I sighed throughout the book. In the end, I was smiling through tears. Ahhh! Chef’s kiss! Perfect Pitch is a decadent delight to read. Austyn, a DJ making a name for herself on the road to fame, finding happiness with a new love, only to see her life implode because of the actions of others, leaves an imprint on the reader that one will not quickly forget. Tracey Jerald can lure readers into her world from the first paragraph to the last sentence in her story, Perfect Pitch.

Heartwarming: Heartbreaking: Healing:
5 STARS is not enough! Perfect Pitch centers on the physical need some people have to create music. Beckett Miller has reached the pinnacle of musical talent. Not only is he a gifted singer, and composer, he also plays several instruments. Best of all he’s been on top of the music scene for YEARS! On the other hand, many people want a piece of him, including some wacky ones. For those Beckett has Hudson Investigations providing layers of 24/7 security. Beckett is a “wild child” who loves to party and his team of bodyguards cover him.
Austyn Kensington loves music. She is multi-talented but has found her calling to be a DJ. She mixes music from multiple decades and then slides in with her beautiful singing voice, sometimes switching to singing in perfect French. Adding more layers to her talent, Austyn is proficient in playing MANY instruments and is a gifted composer. Mom, Paige Kensington, is her biggest fan and encourages Austyn to follow her dreams. It’s just the two of them surrounded by Grandpa and Uncles because at just 17 years old Paige got pregnant by the love of her life, he left her never knowing about the baby and he never came back.
Austyn at only 19 years old moves to New York City and is an instant success. It helps when you pull off a phenomenal DJ job for Amaryllis Events. In the “it’s a small world” sentiment, Austyn rents a shared apartment space from Trever Clifton who is the brother of Mitchell Clifton, a bodyguard for Beckett Miller. Mitch and Austyn fall in love but their romance is up and down. Mitch is distrustful, afraid Austyn may be using him to get to Beckett. As Austyn’s celebrity grows Mitch realizes she doesn’t need anyone’s help, she is awesome on her own. And with celebrities, there are dangerous harmful people. “PERFECT PITCH” is so joyful, exploring Austyn’s talent, and getting to know her somewhat sad childhood and her wonderful mom Paige. Also, to finally learn Beckett’s story and how they all connect. Then midway the story drops into the lowest depths of sadness that change everyone. Tracey Jerald finishes her tale though with a super wonderful ending. I loved this story and all the characters. I received an advanced copy of this story from Bookfunnel and these are my thoughts. The Bodyguard and the Beats of His Heart

Sad to have reached the end of this wonderful series, by a very talented author - but what a bang to go out on! It was fantastic to read Austyn and Mitchell’s tale and see the way Tracey wove all the threads of the previous stories together, intersected the timelines and seamlessly brought the Amaryllis and Midas worlds to a cohesive and magical conclusion. This story had quite the suspense plot and receiving a glimpse of past, found-family characters made for very enjoyable reading.
Both Austyn and Mitchell came through painful childhoods and though their issues had varied, both were cautious when it came to a relationship. Austyn was wonderfully supported by her mother and was therefore supremely confident in her own talent and abilities and knew she had carved out the correct path for herself. Mitchell and his younger bother Trevor felt fortunate to have the support of their Uncle Charlie and therefore, Mitch was freed up to pursue his chosen career. Initially unbeknownst to our main couple, their paths were interwoven and unexpectedly linked and ultimately, poor Austyn suffered for it. But they fought through the trials to be reunited and it was pleasing to experience the relationships of some of the side cast as well.
This was a well-written piece of work from one of my favourite authors and I am grateful to her and to Bookfunnel for providing me with the opportunity of an arc and allowing me to share my voluntary review.

What words can describe the absolute power house of this story? We go on the long and winding journey with Austyn and Mitch and boy do they make for an amazing ride! Tracey delivers another bombshell with this emotionally charged story of two lovers riding the waves of exciting new love, heartbreak, tragedy, perseverance, testing the bonds of love and loyalty and much more to overcome the odds and come out the other side. We revisit past characters, forged family and friendships to revel in the beauty of their happily ever after. Austyn is a testament to the strength and determination of a young woman who is set out to carve her place in the world as she navigates life, love and everything in between. This one will grip you and have you furiously flipping pages, shedding tears, while also gasping one moment, swooning the next and holding on for dear life. Throw in a little mystery, and some plot twists you absolutely did not see coming that will have you fully entangled in the web of the Midas world for yet another epic dive. This story is un-put-downable. My heart was cracked open and sewn back together in all the best ways. Amazing read!

Perfect Pitch is the seventh book in Tracey Jerald's Midas Series, and the first book by this author that I have read. I loved reading and following Austyn and Mitchell’s story of the DJ and the bodyguard. This author has written a wonderful but emotional book that I found worth reading and look forward to reading the other books in the series. ~Dawn

"Another amazing Tracey Jerald story. I am loving the stories in the Midas series and each one builds upon themselves.

Austyn and Mitch's story will take you on a journey of feelings. I really enjoyed reading Austin's side of her parents reuniting while Austyn builds the life she wants with music and Mitch. Life sends them some curveballs so their hard won love is all the better for it.

I loved how Mitch counters Austyn and provides a center where she can always return to. His love for Austyn shines throughout the story. I enjoyed visiting with the other Tracey Jerald characters who feel more like friends. This story was a great addition to the series.

Tracey brought it for the last book in the Midas series! She brought us Austyn’s story! Austyn did not have the easiest time growing up and she relied heavily on her music. College wasn’t what she wanted but used it as a gateway to what she really wanted to do, DJ. While quietly building her large following so she can plead her case to get her trust to leave college and move to New York to pursue her career. With her mothers blessing she is on her way.

What she doesn’t know is her past and present will collide in a way she never saw coming. She must dig deep and find all her strength to survive what is to come. She will need the help of some familiar faces who are always ready to fight for family.

Dive into the end of an era with Austyn’s story and feel. Feel all the feelings you didn’t know you needed.

This is a fantastic read that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster…happiness, tears, and a lot of love. There are surprises, a little suspense, twists and turns and many revelations that come to light.

Austyn is working to make a name for herself. She is determined and driven even though she is young. She’s had an interesting childhood and has some drama she is working though. She is strong and knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.

Mitch is a caring man who has an instant attraction to Austyn…he tries to keep his distance but he is drawn to her. He is a fierce protector and very dedicated to his employer…even though it could cause issues. There are some hidden secrets and unknowns that could impact their relationship.

Tracey writes a beautiful story filled with family drama, revealed secrets, new beginnings and a wonderful HEA.

Austyn Kensington & Mitchell Clifton have made an appearance in previous storylines but this is their detailed story.

There is a stalker, a continuation of the unknown, (now known) absent father but this was all told in a simultaneous storyline.

The story itself was decent, but entirely too long considering most of Becks and Paiges story was in a previous book.

I wanted to love the story, but I couldn’t and forced myself to finish it. Now that’s my opinion only and others may love it. The only surprise to me was the identity of the stalker….although I figured it right before it was revealed

Perfect Pitch is the last book in the Midas Series!

I am speechless! Perfect Pitch left me feeling various emotions all in one book….
• Love
• Heartbreak
• Lies
Austyn lives for her music and decides to go all in, little did she know just how much her life would change when she moved to New York.
Mitch, being a security detail for a famous musician didn’t have time for anything but the first night he saw her walk in, he was mesmerized!

Austyn’s life was spiraling out of control but the one constant was Mitch and the love that they shared, or was it all a lie….

Originally I overwhelmed with how many chapters are in this book BUT boy did I need every single one. So much devastation for Austyn and Mitch! The book does a lot of jumping from the past to the present setting up the plot of the story. Austyn lives through life shattering experiences and is in dark places but leans on her parents and her extended family. Bodyguards, secrets, an age gap, betrayals, hidden identities, loss, instalove, a famous musician as a parent, dangerous circumstances and music are just some topics covered. A really great end to a series!

Perfect Pitch is the final book in the Midas Series and what a heartbreakingly beautiful story it is. This story was un-put-downable. As with all Tracey's books, this one with tear your heart to shreds, then put it back together again. I absolutely love the sexy, broody Mitch and the amazingly talented Austyn. They have such intense chemistry that it leaps off the pages. You get heartbreak, healing, and all the feels. What an fabulous read.

Never ending

The book is long, but the chapters are short. Which was great.
Wonderful book about family and the drama it brings. Waiting for a life time to find out who her father was. As expected, it caused a great deal of hurt. Also, her mother, found out her father lied so much to her when she was a teenager about Austiyn's father.
This story had twists and turns that kept the story interesting.
This story had some realization about life choices.

Austyn loves her music. Mitch is part of security. The way Mitch is there for Austyn. The story is moving. It has so much packed into it. There is drama, secrets, sadness, steam, protectiveness and love. Be sure you have the time to read it. It was tough to put down but I read it over a couple days.

It's my fault for reading the last book in an interconnected series without reading the rest. While the story is theoretically a standalone, there are times when I felt like this book was filling in gaps left in the other books (e.g., showing what these characters doing when the main storyline was happening in another book). Because of that, some things are kind of glossed over and I wish more was mentioned about things referenced in this book (e.g., Bennett and Erzulie).
I liked Mitch and felt for him. Austyn came across as high maintenance and needing to be the main character (even if this was sometimes subconscious).
I didn't get why it was such a big deal that Austyn spoke French and why she decided to make that "her thing" in her music.
Because this book was so long, having it start in the present and then jump back in time was frustrating because I spent a lot of time wondering when the story would come back to present day (you have to wait until you're almost 90% through the book).
I read an ARC and know typos will be fixed before the final version comes out, but it's spelled Loreena McKennitt. I'm impressed though, that there were two incorrect spellings of her name.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Wow. That was incredible. This story had so much heart and soul in it. I was blown away. The way the story was woven between past and present was fabulous. I loved getting a glimpse and then going back to get the full story. It was beautiful. The story shocked me and surprised me so many times; keeping me on the edge of my seat and not letting me stop reading.

Austyn was such an amazing strong women and her story was inspiring and sweet. Her Mom’s strength was incredible and I absolutely loved every moment with her. Mitch was amazing. His strength, skill and heart was so wonderful to read. Where can I get my own Mitch? I’d one click that.

A beautiful story that you can’t miss.

I adored Perfect Pitch! The plots addicting, characters intriguing and music inspiring. I found this book simply breath taking- there are simply no other words. I was in a bit of a reading funk before reading this book it was taking me days to read books this book took me mere hours because i had to read the next line, chapter and then the epilogue! Austyn was a really inspiring character from her confidence, to her devotion to her career and making it and the way she loved music and her family. Mitchell was also a great character who loved his job and gave his everything to it. He loved his family both blood and chosen. The chemistry between Austyn and Mitchell was pure fire. There was some exciting moments, heartbreaking moments and damn right traumatising moments but this book breaks you and puts you back together again. So to sum up this book is amazing and everyone should read it!

Perfect Pitch is the final book in the Midas series. Tracey blows me away again with her beautifully written age gap, opposites attract romance.

Austyn is a strong, musically talented individual that finds her calling as a renowned DJ. Mitch is the broody yet sexy bodyguard who falls hard for her. Their chemistry was intense and all consuming from the get go. I loved their witty banter, and growing connection. This book had all the feels, from heartache to healing. Tracey definitely knows how to pull you into the story.
