Relish’s Mary One manages to feel familiar and classic while providing the player with cutting-edge innovations. Each and every component of this guitar was engineered to meet the needs of players. The Mary One’s body provides impressive sustain and resonance, thanks to a machined aluminum core and 7-ply laminate top and back veneers. The body is then bolted to a 1-piece maple neck with a bent headstock. And, since the neck does not have a traditional headstock joint, it’s incredibly strong and break resistant. Mary One’s claim to fame is a proprietary pickup mounting system that allows you to swap pickup configurations in just a few seconds — no tools required. All you have to do is take off the magnetically attached back, pull out a pickup, and drop a new one in its place. Innovative body design
Every detail of Mary One’s construction was painstakingly engineered by Relish to give players a completely new playing experience. It all starts with a thin semi-hollowbody construction that Relish dubbed the “Floating Sandwich.” It consists of an aluminum core with an alder/ash laminate for the top and back. The top is permanently attached, while the back is securely held in place by a group of magnets. Rubber rings isolate the back panel, allowing the string-through aluminum core to vibrate as freely as possible. By using aluminum, Relish gave the Mary One a completely unique character. It’s bright and powerful with seriously long sustain. And, to top it all off, it feels just like a regular axe when you pick it up to play.
Climate-resistant tonewoods
If you live in a harsh climate or hop between deserts and rainforests with regularity, then you know that the weather can take a toll on your favorite guitar. Luckily, the Mary One was designed to solve this problem. Its tonewoods were chosen specifically for their resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. The HPL (High Pressure Laminate) top and back will remain unaffected by climate, refusing to warp even under the most demanding circumstances. The maple neck is topped with a woven bamboo fingerboard. Woven bamboo is more durable than ebony or rosewood and doesn’t shrink or swell at the same rate. This means that you can throw Mary One into the van in New Orleans and drive to your next show in Vegas without worrying about sudden fret sprout. All you need to do is adjust the truss rod to keep the neck playing just the way you like it. It is important to remember that the Mary One is made from natural materials. Bent maple neck reduces the risk of headstock breaks
The Mary One is equipped with a neck that’s unlike almost any other neck on the market. Made from a single piece of quartersawn maple, the neck features a bent headstock to provide the optimal string angle without compromising the strength of the neck. To prove how strong their necks are, Relish sent a replacement neck to Sweetwater’s product testing team and challenged them to find a way to break it. Many people took turns standing on the neck, but none managed to deal any damage. While we don’t recommend that you stand on your brand-new Relish, we feel confident that this guitar can stand up to whatever punishment you put it through.
Patented pickup swapping system
Relish uses a patented pickup swapping system that enables you to drastically alter your axe’s voice in a few seconds. Each pickup is completely removable and requires no specialized tools to do so. But how does this innovative technology work? Each pickup has plated contacts that transfer your signal without the need for soldering. The pickup is held in place by a pair of strong magnets located in the mounting hardware. And the Relish pickup swapping system is completely modular, which opens the door for some serious experimental potential. Need a P-90 in the neck and a ripping humbucker in the bridge? You’ve got it. Want a single-coil in the bridge and a PAF in the neck? You’re covered. Relish offers a variety of pickups to suit the needs of any guitar player, including single-coils, P-90s, and PAFs. Simplified switching configuration
Players who love tonal variety but want simple controls will love the Mary One. This guitar comes loaded with a pair of Relish XV humbuckers and a Graph Tech Ghost piezo bridge. It has a master volume, a master tone, a 3-way pickup switch, a piezo volume, and a 3-way output toggle that provide tone-shaping abilities. First, the piezo volume control has a push-pull pot that enables a midrange boost. The 3-way output toggle (magnetic pickups only, piezo only, magnetic/piezo blend) enables you to keep your volume controls constant no matter what configuration you’re using.
Integrated piezo system
Mary One has a few more tones hidden inside its semi-hollow body. It’s loaded with a Graph Tech Ghost piezo system located in the bridge. This allows Mary One to create realistic acoustic tones. The piezo system has a dedicated volume knob that allows you to blend the signal with your electric pickups. For further tonal variation, the piezo’s volume control is equipped with a push-pull pot that engages a mid boost. To handle any application, this guitar has a stereo output that splits the piezo and magnetic pickup signals, so you can route them to different amps in your setup.
