Shirley writes psychological thrillers, as well as YA and MG novels. All her work has a wry comic undertone. She has written and produced plays for Radio 4 and the theatre. Shirley also writes for film. She teaches grads & undergrads screenwriting & theatre at FSU and Eckerd in London, as well as working as a consultant for The Literary Consultancy.

She’d like to think that even in the darkest corners of the darkest moments of her darkest books, there is always a dry sense of humour that can carry the reader through.

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to seeing what is next for her. This is a well written story that has twists and turns that not only left me turning pages fast but also had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the first word. I found them to be collectable and brought the story to life. For me they truly made the story. This is a story that is full of action and hard to put down. You dont want to miss what happens with the characters in this story. This is such a great story, I highly recommend this book.

I wasn't sure what to expect when starting reading this book, for sure not such a cryptic and suspenseful book. It hold my attention for the most part but at times I felt that it dragged and this made it hard to read, especially at the beginning and up to a third of the book, but later on it picks up and delivers a good plot.
The book has suspense, fear, science, mythology and the twist from the last third of the book until the end makes the book hard to put down and worth reading.

I received this book for free from Bloodhound Books.

This book was atmospheric. The writing was beautiful. It had a lyrical quality to it that made me take longer than I usually do to finish a book because I wanted to savor every word.

But when you discover what is going on on this island it will chill you to the bone.

I look forward to reading more books by this author.

This was a very easy read, but on the other hand it wasn't because myths and curse's. Which you had to keep up with otherwise you would be lost.
There is a very good twist that I never saw coming.
