Tequila Rose #2

Autumn Night Whiskey

Rate this book
One man loved me when I didn’t even like myself. The town whispered that we were star crossed lovers… among other things. He was my first love, but so out of reach with where fate had taken me.

With a little girl to look after and a past I wished I didn’t have, things were never going to be easy when it came to my life in this small town. Let alone my love life.

At least that’s what I thought until he showed up. A former flame who still ignited a part of me I thought had long gone.

As if life wasn’t complicated enough.
Two men want me, two men kissed me… and my heart is split between them both.

Autumn Night Whiskey is book 2 of a contemporary romance duet. Tequila Rose must be read first.

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

I would recommend this one to any book lover, who enjoys good triangle.

ღ. Holy Cow, this book was spectacular and so off the charts.
Brody, Magnolia & Thank you so much Willow for including Robert’s pov
In the heartbreaking conclusion of this duet…We find out more about Robert’s reasons for doing what he did all those years ago… I just wanted to cry & than it was happening over again & that's when I just wanted to throw my Kindle across the room but then I realized if I did that, I could not finish this book, and again thank you so much Willow for shattering my heart into million pieces

I never thought I'd ever see him again
Love doesn't always come in a perfect package. And Brody, Magnolia & Robert are proof of that. In the beginning I was rooting for Brody, but middle way through the book, I kinda wanted to change sides, than you get so close end forget your last statement and change back to Brody unmistakable sweet side

Magnolia -might be in love with two men,
Brody is like the new hot guy who’s also an old flame……But then there’s Robert, and we all know that’s never really been over….. One she has been in love with all her life and she can’t see a world without him…. the other seems to hold her heart
But geez by the end of the story you might just realize that, sometimes you can’t put broken things back together.

➦📚 *Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book. 💕 Happy Reading & Enjoy --------

The conclusion of the Tequila Rose duet love triangle was very angsty. In addition to Magnolia and Brody's POVs, we also get Robert's POV. If he was the villain in the first book, things clear up some more and we get another picture of Robert. Essentially, Magnolia needs to decide between the love of her best friend Robert, always there for her in her time of need but always keeping himself a bit at arm's length when it came to his love for her and the easy love of Brody, her one night stand from college and most likely father of her daughter.
Magnolia's indecision and angst were very frustrating and often hard to read about. I didn't really connect with the characters. Except the parts about Magnolia's fears and turmoil about raising her daughter. Those I understood and can relate to really well.
What I appreciated was that I got to read a story about real flawed people. People that make mistakes cause they don't know any better and don't have the proper support.

2.5 stars!

Autumn Night Whiskey is the finale in the Tequila Rose duet, and is an angst filled, small town romance, which fills in the gaps left from book one, but didn't leave me satisfied.

Magnolia is being torn in two different directions, one to Robert, the man she’s always loved, who was there for her in her darkest time, but also the man who threw her away all those years ago, meaning she’s never fully forgiven him. The other is towards Brody, the man who has swept her off her feet and showed her how love can be. But on top of this decision, there is the weight of not knowing which man is the father to her daughter Bridget. Magnolia knows now is the time to find out, no matter how much chaos it will cause to her small-town life, but will the result be the one her heart wants?

As in book one, I liked the small-town vibe, but this time I didn’t really click with the characters or the plot. I never felt emotionally invested in their relationships, it seemed like the ‘feelings’ felt rushed at times, and there were certain aspects of the plot I just didn’t like. I couldn’t understand how Magnolia couldn’t wait until after the paternity results, maybe not to make a decision but at least not to hook up with either of them. I realised after I finished my main problem was that Magnolia made the whole situation about her, and not about the big life changing event of either man becoming a father, or her three-year-old having a father. She was quite selfish at times, and I just didn’t like her character.

Robert just seemed to become a weaker character as the book went on, he was fairly cowardly, and I think he needed to just grow a backbone against not only Magnolia and his father. He only seemed to really show his interested when Brody arrived, and he saw him as a threat. Brody was just such a good guy, he listened and was there when he needed to be, and took the whole thing in his stride, letting Magnolia make her decision in her own time. But in some ways, I wish both Robert and Brody hadn’t both been so okay with how back and forth she was with them. I think some of the reactions to different situations weren’t very realistic, I think there would be a lot more arguing and anger there than there was in the book, it all seemed to be resolved fairly easily.

Overall, unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me, and that it could’ve easily been one book. I wish I could’ve become more consumed by the plot, but by the end of it, I just kind of wanted to know who the dad was, and didn’t actually mind who Magnolia ended up with. I will be reading more of Willow’s books in the future, but the Tequila Rose duet didn’t tick all my boxes.

The love triangle between Brody, Magnolia and Robert heats up and turned sour everything good that began in the first book. The story was underwhelming and a disappointing conclusion to this duet. The first book kept me hooked, and I looked forward to getting answers to some dangling ends left by a cliffhanger in the first book. By the time I finished this one, I didn’t care the reasoning behind who, what or why Magnolia made the outlandish choices she did.

Magnolia won’t ever appear on my favorite characters list. She annoyed me from start to finish. What a wishy-washy character. I didn’t notice her being such a twit in the first book, but here she definitely upped the level of my irritability.

I did not like that she was cheating on both guys through most of this book. Her indecisive “I love yous” towards Robert, along with taking complete advantage of his generosity nauseated me. And Robert certainly wasn’t an appealing character either. But believe me, by the end I thought they were a perfect match.

Brody – bless his heart! He fell for her completely all the while seeing what was going on with “the other guy.” The man was practically a saint to put up with the crapola she dished. The only thing I can blame on him was his poor judgment in having a one-night stand with the blonde-out-of-towner in the first place.

Heartstrings aren’t meant to be pulled at like that. What an emotional read! Especially since the male characters get emotional too. Too often they have stunted feelings, and the alpha male trope gets tiring. Nothing like that here.

I don’t want to give away any plot element, but the love triangle gets real here. We even get chapters from Robert’s point of view. And if you’re like me, you won’t know who to root for. Because we got a glimpse at an affectionate Robert in the first book, and it’s confirmed here. He’s nothing like the bad guy Renee tried to depict before. The question is, who Magnolia’s gonna choose?

I also really liked Magnolia’s struggles at motherhood. It’s too often written as some kind of bliss, something that women are immediately good at. Not here. Magnolia lost sleep, thought she wasn’t a good mother, needed help. So relatable.

Magnolia was a typical female character for this author, but I love them like that–I haven’t seen this kind anywhere else. She was anxious, scared, struggled a lot, but she powered through everything–motherhood, work, relationships, town gossip… It’s admirable.

Amongst the sweeter stories from this author, I highly recommend this duet.

After reading Tequila Rose, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue onto Autumn Night Whiskey. However, I needed to know what was going to happen with Magnolia and Brody. I needed to know who Bridget’s father was.

Like Tequila Rose, I really struggled to connect to the characters. Still felt like Magnolia was using Robert, which I ultimately didn’t care that she was doing so. His character was one that I did not like, at all. I thought he was manipulative and just kind of annoying. Now, Brody on the other hand, he was my favoriteee. It was so irritating to me that in Tequila Rose, Magnolia didn’t just choose him.

Autumn Night Whiskey gives you all the answers you’ve been wondering about. This book is mildly steamy, but I really wish it was with one guy and not both of them. Magnolia just gave herself to both guys too freely, in my opinion. The conclusion of the book was great – but I felt that it was slightly rushed.

Don’t get me wrong – enjoyed the story. Truthfully, I think some of the fluff could’ve been eliminated, and the story could have been told in one book. To have the entire story told in one book, I would’ve been okay with having it be slightly longer.

Overall, Tequila Rose and Autumn Night Whiskey were great slow-burn books that were all about growth, friendship, and finding love.

This story is just so good. It‘s emotional, steamy and a duet that won‘t let you go easily.

Autumn Night Tequila focuses heavily on Magnolia‘s struggles deciding between to men. One who has been in her life for ever and one who she fell in love with so quickly. She also needs to find herself a bit and find out who‘s Bridgets father.

Willow Winters did an amazing job with this story. I enjoyed it alot and felt so much for Magnolia. She‘s had a hard life the past few years and she‘s still struggeling a bit with her past.
I also felt so bad for Robert and Brody! They are both suuuuuch great characters and you really don‘t know who to root for!

I want this to go on record I do not like triangles. I shy away from stories that involve them. With that said after I read Tequila Rose I knew what I was in for and I can happily say I lived through it.

Although it was rough at times I did love this story. It pulled on the heartstrings and broke my heart the torment Magnolia went through. In the end only one man came out with a HEA. But I do hope maybe the other's is on the way. He derserves one too.

Willow had me intrigued from the beginning and I'm happy with the beautiful ending. She weaved a story of love and heartbreak, friendship and family.

Autumn Night Whiskey is book 2 in a duet and Tequila Rose must be read first. This book gave me everything I wanted and more from this small town romance. I wasn't a fan of the heroine Magnolia in the first book, that said her character really evolved throughout this second book for me. Willow crafted a great story of first love and new love and how that can happen simultaneously. The emotional journey that Magnolia, Robert and Brody go through was one I was engrossed in.

The novel really puts a spotlight on Robert and how Willow wrote his character to express every single one of the feelings he experiences past and present was both heart warming and heart breaking. He is a man that craves love in his life and wants to prove that to the woman that means the most to him, I think that is admirable. Robert is Magnolia's first love and how can she forget that and all the feelings she has for him.

Brody is ever present, a patient man trying to prove he is worthy of Magnolia and his potential daughter Bridget. He is understanding and a stand up gentleman, there were some fantastic scenes with Brody throughout that balanced this book out. The pacing of the story moved along nicely, characters showed growth and progression from Book 1 to Book 2 and I liked that. I appreciated that Magnolia owned her choices, her wants, her desires and was honest about them, after trying to hide herself from town gossip for the last 5 years, I was impressed to see her finally own her choices in this story.

A fire pit with the girls, a heart to heart under an oak tree, playing in the park or a last goodbye, Autumn Night Whiskey brings together a beautifully heartfelt story that has love and all it's forms at the heart of it.

3.5 STARS

I'm very conflicted when it comes to the rating of this book. On one hand I really enjoyed it, on the other hand I had my issues. My biggest issue probably was the love triangle. Whilst in the first book it wasn't so apparent or it didn't give strong love triangle feelings, on the second book it hit me hard. So maybe because I didn't think this would be a case of a love triangle and ended up being one, maybe that's my biggest issue.

I won't say much, since this is the second part of the duet and the continuation, so I don't want to spoil the first book, but our heroine is conflicted between the two guys that are in her heart and one of them is her daughter's father. One had been always there for her, but also not, whilst the other is the passionate one night stand and someone she had connected with. The angst is definitely there.

It's hard both for the heroine and the reader to pick a side in this book. In the first book it was more clear for me, but this book confused me af! I came to love and feel for both of the male characters and it was hard. I truly hope that the one who didn't end up with the heroine will get his HEA in an upcoming book.

Overall, if you need an angsty small town , single parent romance, then this is your jam! :)

Magnolia, Robert, and Brody navigate living in a small town where people talk way too much about business that is not their own. A few moments felt dragged on, and I wasn't a fan of the love triangle that occurred, but overall, the story gave me all the sweetness that I needed.

Magnolia, Brody and Robert are all back in this complicated romance. Can Robert prove he truly never stopped caring for her? Will Magnolia be able to choose who her heart truly wants? When your past love and present meet, some decisions will always hurt someone. Once the truth of who is really Bridget’s father comes out, who will Magnolia choose? This is the continuation of the tequila rose duet and will have you rooting on both these men! A rollercoaster of emotions wrapped up in this small town romance. I really enjoyed these characters and all they go through. A sweet and emotional romance that will pull at your heartstrings. Told in multiple POV

Secrets... they can make you or break you. When is it ok to tell white lies, and who decides if they are white indeed? Who can own up to ego, and who dares to come clean?

It would be easy if life was white and black, but what about the shades in between the lines? How do you learn to draw them? Sometimes you by yourself, and sometimes they are taught to you, and often they are imposed on you by parents, society or circumstances.

I feel for Robert; he learned the hard way - a good man, brought down to despair and misery by ambition and secrecy. I think he's not defeated, though, and I hope Willow will write his happily ever after some day...

A beautifully written story about a game of chances - serendipity at its finest. I look forward to reading Asher's story next.

Wow! Reading this love story put me on such an emotional journey. Usually, when there is a love triangle, it’s easy to choose the person you want. In this case, both were incredible choices. One of the things that makes a man sexy is how he is with his children. But, when the child isn’t his own and he still treats them as if he were, it just makes him a better person in my eyes. The love that Robert had for Magnolia and Bridget was so sweet and special. The chapters with him and Mags was so heart-wrenching. I just wanted to reach into the book and hug him.

How can you not love Brody? He is still kind, and how he deals with the Robert situation shows his character. I loved the chemistry between him and Mags, and I loved the relationship he developed with Bridget. I loved that she had two “daddies” who loved her. Being a single mom myself, I know what it’s like to have had people in my son’s life to help him navigate the struggles that he went through growing up.

This was heartbreakingly beautiful. These are not normally the type of stories that Willow writes, but I hope she continues with love stories such as this. I’m always a sucker for the small town stories, and it looks like Asher is getting his own book which I’m so very excited because... a mechanic? Heck, yes. (I’m like Mags. I don’t curse, ha ha)

Willow so graciously gave me an early copy of this book to review for her. Please read it. It’s worth your time and it will make you cry and smile at the same time.

Highly emotional read that kept me guessing the outcome pretty much till the end. Full of shocking moments pulled me into the story so much I stayed up most of the night just to finish it! Another amazing book by Willow that proves what a talented writer she is! I absolutely adore the main character Magnolia. She is caring and loyal which makes decisions she has to make that much more difficult. I even enjoyed and felt sympathy towards character I didn't previously like as much, but Willow surprised me with interesting revelations throughout the book that made me look at the character differently.

The book is sexy, but it also has a lots of beautiful moments between people who love each other dearly but need to figure out in what capacity. Great story with amazing writing that showcases Willow's immense talent for capturing emotions in very realistic way.

Fully recommend this five-star read!

What a beautiful conclusion to Brody and Magnolia’s love story. This is a complicated love story that involves three people in a small town that leaves you happy and wanting more for everyone involved.

After Tequila Rose, the story left in the middle of a love triangle. A future with your first love or a future with the love of your life. Magnolia has to choose between two of the best men that she knows. The one who helped her with her daughter when she was first born or the one that she had one amazing night with and has unexpectedly come back into her life.

Magnolia’s story was a complete page turner and I could not stop until I got to the very end. I felt her struggle because I kept rooting for both guys. I was team Brody and then Team Robert. And then back again. My heart kept going back forth between the two. Both had their struggles but love Magnolia and her daughter so much.

I hope she builds more on this series and gives everyone their HEA. Especially for the one Magnolia didn’t choose. Fingers crossed that her brilliant mind will write that story for us!

“It feels like my life is being ripped up into tiny pieces and glued back together in some other order and I don’t have control over it.”

I couldn’t wait until I had a copy of this book. Once I cracked it open it consumed me. I read through it in one sitting.

“If only I don’t move, if only we stayed here forever, the shards of my heart wouldn’t fall, they’d stay right where they should.”

This book will put your emotions on a rollercoaster. It’s real, raw, heartfelt, heartbreaking, steamy, compassionate...get your tissues ready!

“All is not fair in love. Maybe there’s nothing fair about love at all.”

When you heart is split in two can you decide which path to follow? Will you wait too long to decide and end up with neither? So much is riding on the right decision...

“Love stories don’t have to be perfect. As long as there’s love there. And we had love. We had true love and I know that.”

I can’t wait for this story to continue...I hope we see glimpses into the future for all involved in Asher’s story, A Little Bit Dirty.

The conclusion to Brody and Magnolia's story. It picks up where Tequila Rose left off and you'll need to read that one first to fully appreciate this story.
Not that I could ever imagine the place that Magnolia finds herself in, but I have to say I was disappointed in how she worked through a few things, it felt like a selfish betrayal. I do understand that once all that was said and done, it was a turning point for her and her and Bridget's future. I did like the character growth, not just Mags, but all of them, the honest interactions between not only Mags/Brody/Robert but Mags and her Wine Down Wednesday crew as well. There were so many emotions throughout the story, heartbreak, betrayal, regret, resignation, confusion, happiness, awe and all the ranges of love. I think the reason I felt the way I did was because of the connection the author gives us with each and every character. This is a world I could see coming back to again and again.

so the love triangle between brody, magnolia and robert continues, with the addition of roberts pov which i didn’t like at the beginning but ended up working really well to better understand him and his actions.

magnolia was increasingly frustrating, so indecisive her whole personality is about loving them both and who she will end up with. i could somehow understand that she was in a pickle of a situation but she really didn’t help herself. the fact that she didn’t get a
paternity test for so long was so annoying it’s like she didn’t want to know and make life easier for everyone around her. even though bridget (her daughter) was a main plot in the book we didn’t really get to see her that much it was more tell than show.

robert isn’t perfect either but the more we heard from him the more i understood what he did and i really did believe he loved magnolia despite his mistakes she loved him too. which is why it was so unbelievable and unrealistic for magnolia to love robert so much but still make room and love brody too. i just want robert to find his hea.

brody - sigh okay he was a sweetheart, and since they reunited he was all in but when she confessed that she’d been with robert and he didn’t even so much as flinch it was giving doormat. i wish they’d been some fight or some sort of reaction but instead he just brushed it under the carpet and moved on.

overall this was just okay although it really didn’t need to be a duet, it just dragged a lot and could have been so much shorter. i liked getting roberts pov and i’m hoping we can see him get his hea. the epilogue wasn’t my favourite but i liked how everything was somewhat resolved and it set up there potentially being a series with griffin and renee having their own story as well as asher and bren. because i have major fomo i will most likely read those even though i didn’t enjoy this duet all that much.

After reading Tequila Rose, I was very excited to get to read the sequel. I love reading different point of views, and including Robert's thoughts on things was the best decision. We finally got to understand why he did what he did all those years ago. This book and story really was a ride. Robert and Brody are both great characters for different reasons, and I really couldn't decide who to choose. It kind of broke my heart. Something that was a little annoying at times was Magnolia's indecisiveness. I understand why it's such a problem, but you know. But I loved to read the parts where her fear about raising her daughter was visible to the reader. Even though one might not completely understand her, I was able to sympathise with her. Flaws and worries let characters appear more human, and there's nothing better than that. The author has done an awesome job here.

Autumn Night Whiskey is a fabulous conclusion to Tequila Rose. You must read Tequila Rose first there is no getting around that one. All I can say is Magnolia is put in a rock and a hard place when it comes to Robert and Brody. Who will she choose? Well you must read this to finally find out. All I will tell you is she follows her heart. Who is the father? Well I'm not saying. You feel for every stress filled, moment that Magnolia goes through. It is such a triangle here. You have Robert, Magnolia's best friend, first love on again off again. And then there is Brody and that connection worth exploring and new feelings that arise. All I can say once you start reading you realize Magnolia really could not make a bad decision when it comes to either guy. In the end you will fall in love with Magnolia and the man she chooses. I really cannot wait for more books to come featuring different characters from this small town romance. The emotions may run all over the place but you must give in and get sucked into Magnolia's life.

Willow, Willow, Willow. You really had me for a second. You did. I thought you might do me dirty, but thankfully it ended the way I was rooting for!!

I literally cannot tell you how much I love this book. Let me just start off by saying that I’m not a humongous fan of love triangles. I don’t mind reading them but I’m not actively searching for one to read. However, this book and the series overall, easily pulled me into the story and willingly let me devour it in one sitting. I was completely enamored with Magnolia, Brody and Robert. The real and raw emotions that each of them felt really hit me in the feels. Autumn Night Whiskey is a perfect book to cuddle up with a blanket outside on a cool spring/summer night. This small town romance will really pull at your heart strings and make you want more. Because I really want more. This is an absolute must read from me. If you’re looking for something super sweet, real and will fill you with tons of emotions, this is something I highly recommend picking up!!

The anticipated wait is over to discover who Magnolia will choose in this beautiful love triangle romance! I absolutely loved this story. Wonderful strong intense characters with an intriguing emotional storyline. Magnolia has a difficult choice to make between Robert and Brody. But the heart wants what it wants and someone will be hurt. I can say I was happy that she chose the man I was rooting for! Tequila Rose was the beginning to their beautiful love affair and now Magnolia will share her life and daughter with the man she truly loves.
I deeply enjoyed this story, it’s positively captivating and heartwarming Willow ❤️

Autumn Night Whiskey is book two in the Tequila Rose duet. This is a contemporary small town, second chance story that features a love triangle. Magnolia has two men declaring their love for her and she must choose, on top of that she still doesn't know which one fathered her daughter.

I think I prefer WWinters darker reads, I could not connect with any of these characters and I didn't like that the book kept bouncing from past to present. Magnolia was not a good lead character, She could never make up her mind and I felt she led both men on and made it all about herself. I think a lot of content from this duet could have been removed and just released it in one book.

Autumn Night Whiskey has angst for days. Picking up where we left off in Tequila Rose, Magnolia is caught between two really great men and she can't figure out how to choose. Although I was firmly Team Brody, my affection for Robert and all that he has sacrificed, had me rethinking my choice. Now I know how Magnolia felt!

Willow Winters keeps all of us on our toes as to who will be chosen as Magnolia's partner in life. Getting more insight as to the whys of what Robert did and why Renee disliked him, opened up a whole new thought process for me as it did for Magnolia. Robert being her first love deserved a true chance but what is ultimately discovered wrt Bridget seals the deal for who Magnolia wants as her forever and in the end, I was truly glad.

I will say, though, that there were some weaker moments that I had trouble with, especially Magnolia giving of herself so easily to both Brody and Robert whenever the mood struck them. She was all over the place and again, more attention was paid to Robert and his wants, wishes, and needs than Brody's were. And that didn't completely sit well with the journey to discover who Magnolia wants to be with. I needed a bit more from Brody since he remained very quiet and almost too stoic when in the company of Magnolia and Bridget. I wished we could have gotten inside his head just a bit more. He simply seemed to have it way too easy when all was said and done.

All in all, however, I enjoyed the multi-character POVs and how it all came full circle for Magnolia and her men. There is true love between them and the epilogue gave me the closure that was needed. I do hope, though, that the one not chosen gets their story told at some point since he deserves his HEA as well.

I look forward to Asher's story next since he's a bit of a mystery and it seems his past concerning Bri should be quite the ride. This was my first duet from Willow Winters and I did enjoy her writing style and her endearing characters and will definitely read more from her in the very near future.

3.5 stars.

Team Who??

In the second book of the Tequila Rose duet, Willow Winters did great with keeping her readers on the fence when it came to Brody and Robert. While I had a clear picture of whose team I was on after the first book, this time around was completely different. This review may contain spoilers for book one.

We start in the past with Magnolia, when Bridget was just an infant. She was struggling as a single mom and here is where we learned more about Robert. Fast forward to present day and Magnolia is still struggling, however it's with dissecting her feelings for both men. They each have something to offer, but only one can have her true heart.

I'll have to say, my mind was changed about Robert. The guy actually had layers and quite a bit going on in his life, including his love of Magnolia. This doesn't excuse what he did, however in some chapters I was completely on his side. Brody on the other hand, I liked him from the beginning and he only scored more points this time around. He was easy going and sexy as all get out. Such a nice fit for Magnolia to move on with.

Magnolia had a big choice on her hands and I didn't envy her one bit. Willow Winters did a nice job with this two boys and one girl scenario to keep Mags from looking slutty. She really was completely torn between her first love and her new love. I really, really wanted a DNA test to put this thing to bed, however realized with these three, that wasn't going to solve the problem instantly. It was all up to her and this girl struggled with her feelings.

The book is well written and exactly what I wanted in a second book. We are once again joined by the whole town, with everybody giving thier opinion on the situation. Looks like Asher of all people is up next, so I don't mind returning to this small town to see what's up with him.
