Rock Star, Confined

Rate this book
There was so much I never saw coming.

Opening for Tragic, one of the most famous bands in the world, catapulted me from mediocre anonymity into the limelight. The leap from struggling musician to successful rock star happened quickly. After my album topped the charts, I was headlining my own tour, performing for thousands of fans, and loving every moment.

Just as suddenly as my career began, it slammed to a halt, stopped by a word uttered worldwide.

Pandemic.

With my tour postponed, it looked like my year wasn’t going to be a promising one, until I ended up quarantined with Geneva Rowe. Sexy, funny, and a frustrating mystery, Geneva made the days fly by.

“Sometimes the universe intervenes.”

I couldn’t remember where I heard those words, but they stuck with me. Not until this year, did I believe they could be true.

Now if only it could help me convince this stubborn woman we could have more than a temporary isolation fling.

Rock Star, Confined is the latest full-length novel by S.M. Shade. Told in dual perspectives. In this we meet Patrick Thorn, a rising star musician, and Geneva Rowe, a first-time novelist.

Geneva rented out a secluded home in Kentucky to write a novel about a harrowing time in her life. With the world now in lockdown due to a global pandemic, she's thankful she rented this place so far in advance. But just as she's getting settled in, there's a knock at the door. There she is greeted by a gorgeous man who claims he was rented this place as well. Wait just a minute here...

Patrick was headlining his first tour when everything came to a screeching halt due to the pandemic. With everything on hold indefinitely, his manager arranged a rental for him so that he could use this time to work on new music. The only problem is that it was already rented out to somebody else. But lucky for him, she is beautiful and kind and offers to share the space.

The author did a stellar job with this novel. It's a beautiful story of unexpected love, love lost, heartache and love reunited. All of this during a pandemic filled with such fear, worry and tension. The author perfectly illustrated this myriad of emotions. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this rock star romance. It was so real and relatable, and I simply can't recommend it enough. Five stars for Patrick, Geneva and Rock Star, Confined!

Geneva needed to get away and so she rented a house n Kentucky only to find out the owner had double booked her and Patrick. They can't go anywhere else so they decide they could live in the same house. They start getting to know each other and she nicknames him rock star, He is from Canada and can't go home so he works on his music while Geneva works on a book she is writing. They both have a history they don't want each other to know about.
This was well written and we got to see some of the town they stayed in while they rode books and shopped.

Tropes: Rock Star Romance

I’ve always known that S.M. Shade could write fantastic romances as I’ve read many of her books. But I didn’t realize her capacity to truly blow me away until this very book. Rock Star, Confined is EVERYTHING. It’s moving, funny, sweet, and so relatable to the events in the world that you actually feel like you are in the story with the characters. I devoured it. I couldn’t get enough of it and I felt sad when it was over. These two STOLE MY HEART. And I still can’t stop thinking of them! Sigh… I just loved it so much!

If you enjoy romances with musicians and incredible characters you don’t want to miss this one. I’m still reeling from the story!

Rockstar, Confined, is an excellent and very realistic portrayal of what it felt like during the Covid confinement, although with the kind of exciting stranger I would have loved being stuck with for months! The pandemic plays it's part, you can understand and relate to the wild range of emotions that these characters are feeling, you might have had many of the same ones yourself, but doesn't take over the story. It's just a dreamy scenario that makes fiction sound better than reality to me right now!

I loved this funny, handsome but slightly awkward rising star that befriended Axton's love interest, Naomi, in this author's Tragic Duet, which I highly recommend. I felt for sweet Patrick Thorne, who lost the girl gracefully to another man and hoped that someday he would find his own soulmate and forever live on in happy bliss.

In putting together kind, but reclusive writer, Geneva, who seems to be hiding something and an up and coming musician Patrick Thorne, with sexy talent oozing out of his every pore, what could possibly happen? An new friendship, exciting adventures and an attraction that sparks, builds and turns into a full out bonfire! He is an unexpected breath of fresh air for her- fun, laid back and easy to be with, but lookout Geneva, he has a surprisingly naughty side that was irresistible and H.O.T.! Whew! He's also keeping a part of himself hidden, but what? These two accidentally get caught up in confinement together and the when they rent the same secluded home and the inevitable happens- they agree to a lockdown fling, no strings, expiration date already determined by the lease and returning to their real lives- 6 months. Love is not supposed to be on the menu, but no one told Geneva and Patrick about that.

An exciting aspect that S.M. Shade seems to excel at, at least in the books I've read and loved so far, is her ability to suck you into the heated, steamy romance she offers, but then adds in suspenseful twisty storylines, that can leave you hanging by your fingertips, wondering what will happen next. For me, this combination of delightful goodness keeps me reading on, bleary eyed, far into the night, or morning, unwilling to put her books down. I never could have guessed what Geneva was holding back..not in a million years. I adore an unexpected twist that I don't see coming and this one was a heartbreaker.

Rockstar, Confined, is a standalone with cameos and references to characters in other books. Not necessary to read them to enjoy this one thoroughly but if time allows, read her Tragic Duet first and meet Patrick there to get even more enjoyment from S.M. Shade and her wonderful books.

The first 50% of this book was I thinking it was a little boring and sweet. Two stranger sharing a home at the start of the pandemic. Both quiet, one a musician, the other a first time novelist.

In the previous books we met Patrick Thorn (aka, Ichabod), he’s a newer rock star/musician and VERY tall and lanky. Hence the nickname.

Geneva Rowe is trying to write a book. We don’t know what it’s about, but she’s very secretive about it. We know she has her therapist on speed dial and doesn’t like to talk about her family.

Around the 60% this book TOOK OFF. Holy moly, I wasn’t expecting that turn and it became serious and heavy. Trigger warnings, but I promise no details about the story in the spoiler

This quote was particularly on point for our Covid quarantine and life in general.
We’re all distracted by our phones and engineered social drama while we let evil just color in around us.

While this wasn’t my favorite SM Shade book, it was still brimming with character growth and a beautiful story of two lovely souls that find each other.

Do you ever have preconceived ideas on a story based on the author? I do. Let me tell you, it can come back to shock the dodo out of you, when you realize how WRONG you are.

This story is probably one of the most touching storylines I have read in forever. It really came out of left field how emotional I feel. I expected to laugh cause this author is known for her sarcastic humor which is beautifully woven in this book. Chuckle chuckle.

What has me reeling? This story journeys through some dark topics that blow my mind. You know something is up in the first half but when all the truths start unfolding plan for the need of some tissues. SOOO AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT.

Geneva and Patrick are magic together. I have never loved a couple SO EQUALLY, needing them both to find true love but most importantly a safe place to land. Patrick I knew I would love. Come on, you had me at HOT ROCK STAR. WINK. Geneva with her sweet self and mystery made me fall in love with her as well. Sigh.

Tying this story together with what is going on in the surreal COVID world is done mindfully, truthfully, and respectfully. Seeing and feeling the challenges faces with those in the music industry was authentically portrayed. You see and feel the trajectory of recent events. The past few months has not been for sissies, living in the days of a pandemic. Our heroine especially does a excellent job of thinking and feeling what is on the minds of everyone as we journey through history making times. It is not all fear. You see hope, acceptance, and intelligence breathing throughout this story. BRAVO.

This is a survivors story. The message of resiliency and finding love makes me love this book even more. Definitely five star worthy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
HAPPY READING EVERYONE! XOXO

Considering that this story deals with two strangers quarantined together during the COVID 19 pandemic, I wasn't sure I even wanted to pick it up as I usually like my romances to be an escape from reality. I'm happy I read this one though as there was surprising emotional depth, and a steamy connection, between the two very likable main characters who slowly reveal themselves to readers with each turn of the page.

Geneva Rowe clearly wants to be alone as this story started with her renting a house in the middle of nowhere for the next six months. It's a fortuitous rental though once the COVID 19 pandemic shuts down the country and she's happy to ride things out on her own while writing her first book. A knock at the door however changes everything for her and brings her hidden pain out into the open as she slowly makes a connection with the stranger she invites into her space. It's a slow and steady romance that soon flourishes between her and the rock star, a romance that reveals her heartbreaking past and my admiration in her surviving it. Geneva's a very likable heroine, one who's stronger than she gives herself credit for, and I enjoyed how natural she and Patrick's interactions felt despite his fame. She was warm, caring, and is the kind of heroine you can see yourself being friends with which made it oh so easy to put myself in her shoes...though my time in quarantine wasn't near as romantic.

Patrick Thorn has been introduced to readers before and it was a tantalizing glimpse that was given, but here we get greater insight into him and he's definitely not your typical rock star. From the start he could've used his fame to kick Geneva out of the rental house, but he's a good guy with a heart of gold that quickly becomes apparent as they decide to share the house. What follows is a romance that slowly creeps up between them, one that their close quarters makes possible as they let their guards down. Patrick is more than just a pretty face (though he's definitely sexy) and there's a depth to him that shows him to be more about the music than the image. He cares about people and I found him most endearing during those few times where the two of them interacted with others outside their romantic bubble. His need to help was so subtle but satisfying and was another facet to his big heart and drew me to him all the more.

On a whole this was a satisfying story with surprising depth, a deeply formed connection between the main couple that laid both of their personalities bare. The romance between Geneva and Patrick was allowed to build naturally which made their growing connection beautiful to behold. The issues between them weren't only related to the pandemic but to their fears...particularly Geneva's fears of her past that Patrick luckily didn't let hold him back once he committed to her. COVID was presented in a realistic way throughout this story though, a powerful part to the storyline that added a sense of claustrophobia and concern to a story already full of intense emotions. This made their burgeoning romance even more vital to readers and pulled me into their journey to HEA wholeheartedly. When I started this story I wasn't sure I was ready for such a timely told tale, but it ended up being just what I needed right now to help me get through another day dealing with the chaos.

This is my first romance story that is set in pandemic times. I knew there would be books like that and I'll admit I was nervous about how it would come across for a romance novel. But I'm at least happy to say that it was well done and by an author that I really enjoy.

I actually like the way that she captured some of the insecurities and fears that some people have in dealing with the way things are now. She even showed some of the minor, not terrifying aspects like lounging about all day and having a chance to binge watch TV. And at the same time she wrote this really good, romantic story.

I found myself really liking both main characters even as I wondered what secrets the leading lady, Genna, was hiding. I did feel like the leading man, Patrick, was much more open and I connected with him faster but overall I really like the way that the relationship seemed to have built up organically despite what was happening around them. At no point did I feel like this couldn't have happened if it weren't for the pandemic and I liked that I got that vibe while reading.

While this book can easily be read as a standalone from other books S.M. Shade has written, there are some characters I recognize from her previous work. That's always something I like when reading multiple books by one author.

Overall I just found myself really enjoying this story and would recommend it.

“As long as Geneva and I are tied together, there’s nothing we can’t face with our heads up and our hearts solid.”

Rock Star, Confined is a brand new novel by S.M. Shade about Patrick Thorn, a rising star musician and Geneva Rowe, an upcoming novelist.
I read the Tragic duet a few months ago and I was absolutely in love with it. It was my first ever rockstar romance trope and first time reading this author and it did not disappoint. I was soooo happy when Shade announced another book that was set in the same world as the Tragic duet.
Patrick intrigued me a lot from the beginning, like yeah he seemed nice and sweet but i just knew it was more to him. And boy was i right. This man can love and agh i adored him .😩 Also don’t even get me started on how hot he is with his whole total rock star look, especially in the scenes where he was on stage. 🥵
Now Geneva. God i love this woman. She’s so strong and empowering. Her story and past were something that i never quite met in other books i’ve read. I’ll just say i wasn’t expecting her secrets to be that tragic and heartbreaking. Like i said I LOVE HER and her strength.
The book overall was really good and the plot was amazing, but the thing that didn’t do it for me was the whole pandemic stuff? I don’t know it just felt that sometimes it was mentioned too much or there was too much unnecessary informations about it. But that was only for the first 35% of it. From then on it got better.
I absolutely loved the last 10% of the book were all secrets were out and Patrick and Geneva realized how much more alike they were than they thought. Their pasts made them perfect for each other when they both thought it will just ruin them. Gah LOVE IT!!!
This story is about survivors and the message behind this book really hit deep. Thank you Shade for this!

Ahhh I LOVED this book. At first, I’ll admit I was a little bit skeptical because I did not think I wanted to read about being stuck in quarantine. BUT, this story blew every hesitation and expectation I had out of the water! This was so much more than finding love amongst the fear and uncertainty surrounding the world wild pandemic, there were interwoven pasts that blended in perfectly with the storyline to create something fantastic. I don’t know why I even had doubts because SM Shade’s writing is phenomenal. Lately I have been stuck in a bit of a book slump and this was the perfect story to draw me out. I legit devoured this book in a couple of hours.

As the worldwide pandemic’s threat ramps up, Geneva rents a house out in the middle of nowhere to ride out the storm and have a break from her life. Only she won’t be quarantining alone, because musician Patrick had the same idea. The only problem, they rented the same house.

I adored Patrick. He had my heart swooning. I loved his shy and dorky side but LOVED his dominant and animalistic side just as much. My heart broke for Geneva and her past. These two were drawn together by the recognised pain and suffering they had both previously experienced. Thus giving them an understanding of one another that no one else would have. They had both been through hardships and overcame hurdles that no person should have to endure. But they did and they still somehow remained kind and compassionate.

It was gut wrenching, mysterious and anticipation building to find out more about the tightly controlled Geneva, the sexual tension and chemistry was through the roof, and the tummy fluttering sex scenes were hawt!! Phew, the angst.

As I said, I LOVED this book. I loved everything about it, and I am so, so happy that Patrick would not leave the author’s mind and his story was told because it was brilliant. I adored both main and secondary characters, the plot was engaging and interesting and the whole book was paced perfectly.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

Patrick Thorn is Canadian and stuck in the US during quarantine, and ends us sharing a house with Genna. Now, first of all, how come I couldn’t get quarantined with a rock star, or musician, or actor, or whatever? Especially not a 6’ 6” hot guy who is friends with the Axhole and Naomi, is caring and considerate and wants to watch Lucifer? I need Shade to fix my quarantine.

All that aside, both Patrick and Genna have secrets, and yet we don’t find out how deep and dark they are until late into the book. Genna is definitely hiding, writing a book, and having family issues, but wow.

And Patrick, can I say he’s one of my favorite characters by Shade? He’s the sweet, shy, hot guy next door who has almost no clue he’s any of those things!

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel reading a book set during quarantine, which is funny because I’ve had problems connecting with books lately that have been written recently and have scenes with large crowds or bars/restaurants. I think part of what I appreciated was that the characters had issues resulting from going down the social media and news rabbit hole, that there were references to all the constantly changing guidelines. These are things I can relate to, but in a fictional situation, with humor and with dark moments, and that’s what I need to see.

I love the perfectly romantic scenes, the social distancing at the stores, the virtual parties, these are all put together in a mix of prepandemic and current situation to make a story that I picked up and didn’t put down until I was done.

SPEECHLESS! This book left me absolutely speechless. I am honestly in awe of this author right now! I am a huge fan, I absolutely LOVE her Violent Circle Series and really enjoyed reading the In Safe Hands and Striking Back series. These series are so different from each other that it just makes me in awe about how versatile she can be in writing many different genres.
SO, S.M. SHADE, YOU FREAKING ROCK!!!

I read Rock Star, Interrupted and Rock Star, Unbroken and was so excited when I found out that Patrick was getting his own book, I could tell the guy had some great stuff below the layers- but his heart will make you hands down fall for him! I just glossed over the blurb so I did not realize how powerful this book was going to be. You realize just how important it is to not judge a book by its cover and just be a genuine human being. Geneva is just WOW what a complex character, I loved getting to know more about her as well.

All in all, this book rocked my socks off in every possible way. It was touching, deep, and oh so deliciously steamy. If you are on the fence about reading this, I say stop reading this review and go and get it ASAP because it is 100% worth it and I definitely recommend it- absolutely 5 stars from me!

PS: I want to say a huge thank you to S.M. Shade and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly! <3

Romantic, Steamy & So Emotionally Addicting!!😍🔥💘💔😢🙏
Rock Star, Confined

Geneva has rented a secluded house for 6 months to write a book. It's worked out well as all borders are now closed & most Countries are in lockdown. There's a world wide pandemic and only essential workers & businesses are carrying on, everyone else is to work, teach, learn, all from home!!😳 Then there's a knock at her new door & a gorgeous but exhausted man stands there. He thinks he's rented her house too.🙈

His name is Patrick & she realises she recognises him from TV, he's a new Rock Star!🎸🎶 She invited him in so he can call his manager but she knows she booked the house before the pandemic, his manager didn't! She feels so sorry for him she says they can share the house, it is huge & he looks so tired.👍 That's how Patrick & Geneva start lockdown confined together, complete strangers. How will they leave it??🙏💕

The writing is sublime in this book. The Author captures the isolation, fear & tension of lockdown so perfectly, no exaggeration necessary! The emotions, suppressed or otherwise, are captured beautifully. The storyline, friendships & relationships, that blossom, are addictive & utterly consuming!😍 I literally couldn't put this book down. It was so relatable & filled me with compassion!🙏🌟

Great read

I have a soft spot for rock star romances and I was really intrigued to see how the order would use quarantine in this book, so I decided I had to read it. There is no disappointment from my part. I loved how these characters get to know each other outside of the usual rat race that is life. This was overal a really sweet romance for me, with some drama, but these characters were amazing!

This was a well written novel from a wonderful author. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me. I tend to read to escape. The fact that this novel revolved around Covid-19 was too close to home.
Basically, a rockstar and a nobody female end up renting the same house during the pandemic. They decide to cohabitate. As you would imagine, sparks fly... etc etc.

Patrick is on top of the world with a new gig with the band. Geneva comes into his life just as the pandemic hits and things go crazy. The couple end up quarantining together as the pandemic continues for some time. They discover more about each other and end up falling in love. A great read with plenty of emotion.

During the worst of the Corona virus there have been many non fiction novels written...love in lockdown. .so when SM Shade released this book and having read all the Rockstar romances thus far, I was not expecting a story set in Covid time! That should teach me about not reading a synopsis of a book before I delve into it! I have been doing my utmost to avoid books based within the timeframe as it's a hard face truth we are living in. Before I get into the story I am very grateful to the author for the emotion she wrung out about the virus. I think many of us have felt the same fears...fear for loss of income, fear of life and death, fear for family and friends and fear for all that we once knew and may likely never know. The characters of this novel , especially the female lead was the biggest surprise. There was little much to let on that she had a tragic past of that magnitude and I would have appreciated an entire story based on her past alone. It would make for an interesting read all on it's own.

Rock Star, Confined is so different than what I am used to from SM Shade. It is refreshing. It is brilliant. It is inspirational. It showcases her best writing. I seriously wish I could read this for the first time all over again.

One of the things that i absolutley love about this book is the setting. Shade was inspired by the real world events that have happened over the last few months. The way in which she made this story flow was perfect. The story was so easy to follow and understand. I mean how could you not be ok with being quarentined with one of the hottest up and coming rock stars? I would totally be ok with it. Im kind of jealous that this wasnt my life while we were shut down, lol.

Now we all know the saying "Nice guys finish last" and sometimes having a nice hero doesnt always jive with the actual story. But there is no denying that had Shade wrote Patrick a different way, it wouldnt have been as good as it was. The story wouldnt have been as perfect as it is. I applaud Shade on breaking out of the so called 'norm' to give us this amazingly nice, hot, caring, down to earth rock star. I mean its no question he was one of my favorite parts of this book.

What she managed to accomplish with this story is amazing. And Im not just talking about the pandemic setting. She touched on other real world issues, and she took them on with grace and care. Made a devestaingly horrible situation into a moment of inspiration.

I am truly amazed with Rock Star, Confined.

A really well written book and a new author that I will definitely explore more with in the future. The characters are likable and their story is tragic, but for some reason the plot came across as young adult to me and that threw me for a loop for a little bit. I still can't figure out why my mind leaned this way with such a strong topic like this book had, but I still felt that way when I was done.

Patrick and Geneva's story hits just at the right time. Seeing the last few months played out through their eyes was refreshing... Sounds silly but almost therapeutic too.

When we're introduced to Patrick's character back in the Tragic duet I did not see this side to him. I saw a tall, kind, nerd that could sing... Shade has spun a whole new twist on this man. Not saying he's not still those things but he's soo much more. He really comes into his own and grabs the readers attention from the get go.

Geneva has beautifully tragic down pack.. she has demons that seem to chase her constantly but she's not your helpless heroine waiting for the knight in shiny armor to rescue her. No this woman is taking the past by the horns and she's a fierce fighter. She's also compassionate and as stunning on the inside as she is on the out. Readers will have no choice but to love her.

You don't have to read the Tragic duet to enjoy this story but I'm a sucker for seeing where characters come from so I'd recommend it.

I have read one other book about pandemic and this one is pretty good. How else could you be confined for 99 days with someone?
It's a start. I know Genna didn't have to let Patrick stay but that's fiction for you....plus she did kinda know him through his music.
Once you buy into this hurdle then it's early days of pandemic all over again for me. (Almost a trigger! LOL) The author doesn't truly know how it all plays out because we are still living it. The author's fictional assumptions are mild enough to move on through because the carefully crafted main plot becomes a focus with a surprise chaser...which IMHO was unnecessary.

It did disturb me to know people are out there who don't understand the psych of a nine year old kidnap victim who after 9 years was feeling emotions for her kidnapper. That's why California's latest pedophile penalties becoming lessened really also disturb my heart. Children do not consent. They are manipulated by sick adults.

So thank you author for a thought provoking pandemic love story. Hard to imagine but it works. There is plenty of watching a rockstar work (everything-crafting songs---performing--rising star troubles).

Very enjoyable. Love me some SM Shade!!

This is the second book I’ve read by S.M. Shade. Earlier those year I read her “Unsupervised” and was highly amused as well as entertained by the new residents of Violent Circle.

This book is in the opposite direction, but so incredibly written. I fell into this book much faster than I anticipated and I was hooked. Patrick and Geneva grabbed me by the throat and I just couldn’t put them down.

This is a Rockstar romance. Sorry Patrick - MUSICIAN romance. Which is one of my favorite genres. This book had so many incredible twists, surprises and depth to the characters that you are still learning about them and watching them grow right up to the last page. Honestly, I’d really love an epilogue or to see these two again briefly in another book just to know they are solidly in their happy. They are two people who greatly deserve it.

Another thing to know about this book is it in set in what I call “the dark COVID times” the initial story kicks off as Patrick and Geneva inadvertently rent the same house from owners trying to scam scared and trapped people. Geneva arrives at the house first, and after meeting Patrick combined with the swiftly unfolding events of the COVID pandemic in the US, Geneva doesn’t have the heart to kick him out. The house is large and rented out for six months. It’s easier to just room together and get through it.

This is also the second novel I’ve read featuring a couple quarantining together and falling in love. I liked this one a bit more as the second half of the book seemed more hopeful and kind to the world. However, that’s neither here nor there.

Patrick and Geneva’s love story starts to unfold while they cautiously learn about each other. At first they are polite individuals sharing common room space and separate areas for work while the world burns around us. Set in Kentucky, this novel paints a slightly different viewpoint of the pandemic and lockdown that I personally experienced, but it hit me deep. It made me look at what we experienced vs. what others in different regions went through.

Gradually a friendship forms with these two. A brief video chat with Patrick’s mom to let her know he’s okay (he’s a Canadian trapped in the US), a live streamed charity concert that Geneva runs tech support on, a silly quarantine birthday for Patrick and finally one drunken girl friend call sends these two over into lovers territory. The ride in between these instances is worth the price of admission.

We learn that Patrick is still grappling with his new found fame. He’s a gentle person with an artistic talent that is larger than even his tall height. Geneva is secretive. Scared. Anxious. We know there are many things she’s keeping from Patrick, but he makes her laugh, smile, open up and enjoy what they do have. We know that whatever it is she’s locking away, it’s horrible enough that she feels it isn’t fair to let it spill over to Patrick’s life or career. Geneva is truly living in the “if you love something you set it free” world.

Halfway through the book - Geneva breaks us. The two part and we begin to see them as separate people. Back into their “pre COVID” lives. We finally find out the bones of Geneva’s secrets. They may or can be triggering to some. It does deal with abuse. Ms. Shade is an incredibly compassionate and kind writer to her characters, which may help her readers. While Geneva’s secret is shocking and hard, Ms. Shade presents in a “I’ve healed” light. Geneva is moving on and working on full healing. Mostly. Patrick is still out there...and they are both still heartbroken.

These two lovers do eventually come face to face in an odd twist of events. In this world, we’ve begun to be able to live again. A vaccine exists which allows for some gatherings - like concerts. And in person TV interviews. And accidental run ins with your ex lover in a hotel lobby when you least expect it.

From this point the story unfolds rapidly with the fullness of Geneva’s past laid bare. We even find that Patrick has a past that NO ONE knows of.

And a happily ever after for two broken souls that fix each other.

All - if I keep rambling, I’m going to drop spoilers. I may have added too much already. I have to cut myself off here.

In seriousness, while Ms. Shade writes great romantic comedies, this genre - the line between fame, humanity, and love...this is her wheelhouse. These characters had so much depth and emotion. The world didn’t have to be overly described because we literally are all living in it somehow. To see these two characters blossom, grow, trust, and love; it made the lockdown and the scary seem worth it. I actually hope that someday we find out that there were Patrick and Genevas in the world. Tossed together by crisis, but finding their person because of it.

I highly highly recommend this book. It is one of my favorite reads in this month and one that will stay with me for a while.
