The trigger is fairly stiff, but I feel this adds safety to it's use, as you will not pull it when you are not ready. The smooth operation comes in handy when you want to slice sandwich thin slices. It did not jump around or move when you pull the trigger. It sliced French bread and wheat bread with ease and made consistent slices. I imagine it will also slice any meat just as evenly. I will update my review when the time time comes. The handle is a little bulky, but still easy to maneuver.

 This Old-Timer brand cordless knife is replacing a similar knife by Rapala. The selling point on the Old-Timer was the blade release mechanism. On the Rapala, buttons on each side of the knife body had to be pressed simultaneously to release the blades. Over time, these buttons wore out, making the blades extremely difficult to release. On the Old-Timer, a single release button is located on the top of the knife. The feel of this mechanism is superior, leaving the impression of a stronger and more durable release mechanism. Both knifes are similar in size, weight, and grip. The Old-Timer knife has a soft purr sound, like any other electric or cordless knife. While there are less expensive cordless knives on the market, I expect they are just that - less expensive. They appear to be built cheaply, not seeming to compare to the solid and durable feel of the Old-Timer. The Old-Timer and Rapala are comparable, but the Old-Timer was $30 less, feels better, and has a superior release mechanism. I recommend the Old-Timer as a Best-in-Class filet and carving knife.

you can't beat this knife for the price I got it on sale was a bonus for me fit your hand good and never ran the battery out cleaned 50 speckle trout and still had 3/4 of the battery left
