Customers are dissatisfied with the connectivity of the doorbell. They mention that it would not connect to their network, it always showed a weak connection, and they couldn't get it to connect directly to a router loaded with DD-WRT. The signal may still not come out well, and there are many factors that affect the signal. The application, Remo+, would not allow the camera to connect to WiFi. One drawback is that the video feed can't be linked to Google Home, so you can''t see the. Loud clicks when it occasionally disconnects from the Internet and cannot be reconnected remotely.

The Remobell S came with everything I needed to do a pro-quality installation. The multiple included mounting plates allow you to choose various angles for mounting the unit to get the best possible view of your entry.
The install went well. I used the included adapter and wire nuts to connect to the mechanical chimes inside the house. I followed all instructions but the chime didn’t sound until I changed the setting in the Remo+ app to enable the mechanical chime (options are None, Mechanical, or Digital—the default was None).
Works great! Very quick connection when viewing the live feed or stored video. Very clear image. Great full-view angle captures everything. Best of all — no monthly subscription is required. Remo keeps 3 days of activity on their servers for you for free. It’s super easy to download a video if you want to store it on your phone or tablet.
Unit is built well, looks great, comes with excellent instructions and works amazingly well! Thank you to Remo for a great value in home automation/security.
- IF USING A CELLPHONE, RECOMMEND TURNING OFF THE CARRIER LTE/DATA SERVICE...I wasted a couple of hours seeing the app flash "unable to connect to your wifi network" because my phone (Verizon MotoG7 power) LTE service must have been interrupting or interfering with the device registration process. When LTE is enabled on the phone, the Remo+ app never announces "Connecting to your network network", and always failed to register the device. A simple addition to your written, video or in-app prompts about possibly needing to disable LTE would go a long way to making things go smooth for some of your customers. There is one other Amazon reviewer who mentioned LTE some time ago, but it was a 1 line review, and was missed until after I realized LTE was the problem, and a search for LTE was done in the Amazon reviews for the product.
- The device will register and work if you have both 5Ghz & 2.4Ghz wifi networks active, at least it did when I had them both enabled on my Arris branded BGW210-700 router used with the AT&T fiber network. You should make sure the two bands have different SSIDs to identify them with, a good way is to prefix the SSIDs with 2.4G and 5G thereby making it easy to identify which is the 2.4Ghz network you need to connect to for the Remo+.
Also, it's probably a good idea to forget the 5Ghz SSIDs or other networks in range of your phone/tablet/etc that aren't the 2.4Ghz wifi network being used for the Remo+ registration (Did I mention to turn off your LTE/data service??) . Doing so will eliminate any unwanted interactions during the registration process.
I've read reviews that mention the 2.4Ghz requirement is only for registering the device, and isn't required after registration. Not true in my setup. If the 2.4Ghz wifi is disabled or the SSID/password changes, then the Remo+ goes into flashing Red, "Doorbell is not connected" mode, isn't usable until the device is manually reset by removing the front panel, and pushing then holding the reset button for 3-5 seconds until the polite Remo+ voice tells you the device has been reset.
Note if you have a router that can run both 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz networks at the same time (as described earlier) then you don't have to downgrade your primary home wifi network to 2.4G, it can stay at 5Ghz through the entire process. Maybe if I temporarily changed my primary network from 2.4Ghz for the Remo+ registration then back to 5Ghz after the device is registered, the Remo+ would work with the 5Ghz wifi after it was registered in the app, that's probably what the other reviewers did.
- Let your customers know that if they are using a second 2.4Ghz network (e.g. not the primary wifi network) and it's also being used by visitors/guests, or other "smart" devices like plugs, light switches, etc.. then they should check to make sure they aren't hitting the default maximum # of devices allowed to connect to the secondary network. My router's 2.4Ghz guest/secondary network defaults with only allowing 10 connections. It had to be increased to allow the Remo+ to join the network.
- The app asks for the type of doorbell chime as part of the registration process, but didn't keep that setting after the device was registered the first time. After the device was added to the app, I had to select a manual door chime in the device settings in order to get the chime to work inside the house. The three additional times I had to register the device after manual resets were done did remember the chime setting entered during the registration process. Not sure if this was an anomaly because of the registration issues I had at first, but I did see another reviewer mention the same problem when I searched for chime in the reviews.
O.k. enough of the complaints about, I mean requests to add, missing registration hints in the Remo+ guides, how about a summary of my overall experience:
- For $79 this is looking like a steal. It does exactly what I needed, provides clear HD video of the one dead zone I had around the house using 7 surveillance cameras. It has a wide, I mean really wide, view of my front porch and the yard going out to the sidewalk/street. I don't have to run an 8th video/power cable for another camera now, YEAH!!!
- The box, and it's contents have a really professional look/feel to them. The box is compact, and secure, with nothing loose/bouncing around inside. Has everything needed for an easy successful installation (except the device registration hints listed earlier).
A cement/stucco drill bit, small bubble level, multiple mount plates to get the best viewing angle, and a screwdriver tool as part of the box contents were unexpected, pleasant surprises. Most entry level devices (professional reviewer's description of where the Remo+ fits in the video doorbell market, not mine), usually won't have these inexpensive, but handy extras, that could be real cost/time savers for a non-professional DIY installation. Everything fit too, which isn't always the case in today's mass production, cost saving world we live in.
The installation instructions (pre device registration in the app) had all the steps needed to install the doorbell, and were generally well written and easy to follow.
- Video playback is outstanding, super clear in both day & night. I have good lighting on my front porch, so I don't think its using the night vision LED mode. The recorded video is bubble distorted some, but it's still clear in my setup, and I'm able to see faces pretty easily.
Late evening yesterday (24th), I had another Amazon delivery on the porch (zWave deadbolt lock), which was missed because we were all in the kitchen cooking up our Christmas Eve dinner. It was easy to see the delivery guy leave the package & take his own photo of dropping it on the porch even in the recorded video mode. Bubble view doesn't look like its going to be a problem for me, but it might be nice for the Remo group to comment on why recorded videos are distorted like that, probably some type of compression/bandwidth saving "enhancement" for the customer. If it doesn't cost Remo extra cloud storage costs, maybe allow your customers to disable the bubble view for recorded playback in the app?
- The default motion sensitivities might be fine for my location, I'm not having many false triggers because of car motion or tree movement, etc.. However, since the app doesn't have advanced tools like facial recognition (nest), I'm going to have to work on the frequency of notifications. For Christmas Eve, we had a lot of front door activity because of family/friends visiting for the dinner, and my 4yr old grand daughter probably triggered about 15-20 notifications alone while kicking a ball around in the afternoon. If there isn't a way to schedule disabling notifications, I'm going to have to lower the frequency of them when everyone is at the house and could be going in/out the front door often.
Other than the gripe about some missing information on registering the device in the app, it looks like they've done a great job with this product, and its sold at a super competitive price.
Thanks Remo,
The installation was straightforward, and bundled angle adjustment kit was super helpful to maximize the view field. Just make sure to use the bubble leveler included to get the perfectly level, professional look installation. I forgot this step and had to readjust. Software installation was also straightforward, although WiFi paring could be a bit tricky if the WiFi coverage isn't very good (not the problem of the product tho). The router on my house was a bit too far from the product, and I had to install a repeater to provide good signal and to get successful paring.
I also want to point out that it is easy to use and quality made. Once installed properly, it feels solid as a rock - very good manufacturing quality. Software is easy to use and remote notification works well. The motion detection feels a bit too sensitive, although in my installation the camera had to be pointed toward active driveway a bit - so I'm not 100% sure. It's possible to adjust the motion detection box in the software, but I haven't tried that yet. At least, I'm confident that I won't miss anything suspicious. Aside from this, the picture and audio quality is quite nice, and the night vision is surprisingly good.
Overall, I think this is a well-made product that should satisfy most homeowners.
Top reviews from other countries
Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to 2.4 G before you try to connect the doorbell to wifi. Then, it connects in a few seconds. Once it is connected you can restore your phone to 5 G.
Use the app to adjust motion sensitivity to suit your environment. Also, select one of the included wedges that best directs the camera away from the street to avoid motion detection from vehicles. I live on a busy street and don't get any unnecessary detections.
Follow all the provided directions meticulously and installation will be a breeze. The provided directions are very well written.
You don't necessarily have to disconnect the power on your doorbell before installing the Remo+. Do this only if you want to be super cautious. I did not and experienced no shocks. The voltage on a doorbell is so low, it's harmless.
This is a very good doorbell camera that looks beautiful and works as it claims.
I have to send it from Australia to las Vegas in the US for a refund, this cost $55AU and Amazon only reimburse up to $35AU, so I'm out of pocket $20 for the experience, I'll think twice next time about buying an expensive item from Amazon again.
Bitterly disappointed.
Installation: Very easy to install and configure, comes with all the accessories and tools to install, along with some great wall plates, which came in very handy for me. Can use mechanical, or digital chime. I used my existing mechanical chime, works no problem.
Video Quality: Motion detection and display are very fast. The live feed video is very good, considering the price, and recorded video is fish-eye as many people have mentioned, but that is OK for me. Very wide angle detection, I can see the package at my door. The included wall plates help with this.
Design: Slim, and modern looking. I was able to fit it on my 2" door trim. Lights up when it detects motion, and makes it easier for people to find doorbell.
Motion Detection: Detection can be very sensitive, with trial I got it to approx. 90% positive detects 10% false, This would depend on your location. Detect zones are not intuitive, but work if you get it right. I set my sensitivity to 1 notch above "low", and selected only the very bottom motion zone. This always detects a person when they are approx. 4 feet from door. This setting reduces the possibility for false detects from the street, and trees, in my situation. However; bright lights and shadows, animals, can trigger a detect.
Two way communication: Good clear sound, a little lag, but tolerable. Great feature.
Tips: During my 2 weeks with this doorbell, I have discovered a few tips that helped me solve some problems.
1: Some people are having trouble getting Alexa to connect, or display image. Initially, I had trouble, and discovered that if I put video quality on average, my echo show would connect and display live view. However; there is some buffering involved, before connection. A good wifi connection is needed.
2: To reset the RemoBell, without re-doing everything, you can turn off power momentarily, then re-connect power, that helped me with some connection issues.
3: Use the angled wall plate provided, to ensure that you have a complete 180 degree view when using live view, (No obstructions) this will give you the best possible day & night time quality, and detection adjustments. Try to ensure that the bottom detection zone is pointing low enough to prevent cars, and trees from being detected.
Overall I am very happy with RemoBell, considering the price point, I highly recommend.
