A Real Scope that is a Very Good Value

A Real Scope that is a Very Good Value
I bought this to put on my new Ruger 10/22. I actually sent the 1st one back as the finish around the objective lens was a bit scratched. No scratches on the lens and the function seemed fine, but I expected it to be in 1st quailty new condition. The second one came within a day and the fit and finish were much better. I used Weaver 4 point aluminum rings to mount it. It fit very well and is secure. Also, it is light which is nice. Although it is does not feature an adjustable objective, it is very clear all the way from 3x to 9x and has a focus ring at the eye piece. It offers very good eye relief with a nice recticle. Also, it picks up a lot of light especially given the price. The windage adjustments are very precise with a nice click for each setting. The elevation is good but not as precise as the windage. Both adjusments have nice caps that are easy to screw on and off and have a nice knob that can easily be grabbed and turned with your forefinger and thumb. I have only been to the range once with it. Took about 5 minutes to site in at 50yrds. Usually with a 22lr, I wouldn't mess with the windage and elevation once set, but I tried it out to see if it was accurate. Both worked extremely well and it held a good zero. I am glad I choose this Simmons over a less know name that offered more features (some just novelty). The clarity and zoom are excellent for the price of the scope. The eye relief is very good. I don't think the other no names that offered twice the magnification would be nearly as clear at any setting. For my purposes, I really like it. After a few hundred rounds and carrying it around, I will have a better idea if this scope can be used for more than just the range. If so, I will buy another for one of my centerfire rifles. Overall the lenes are very good and the lens caps are a nice touch. At this price range, I doubt there is another scope that can perform this well, but I am curious to see the how it holds up as durability may be a weak point. If you are looking for a budget scope that actually holds a zero and functions I would choose this. Don't expect this to be as good as high-end entry level scopes that cost 5-6x as much. Considering the price and expectation, I have rated it a 4 since the first one needed more QC and because I am not yet sold this can handle more vigours environments.
