*Image Quality: Very good. I don't give "perfect" ratings effusively, but 5/5 here. Compared to my previous models, none of which were OLED, this TV has really nice black scene contrast that you can really appreciate out of the box. I did not have to do much in the way of calibration. The room it is in is a typical family room with above average natural light, no windows pointing toward the screen directly. TV is setup in the corner of the room on wall mount.
*Angle Viewing: With corner mount, we have been able to assess viewing angle, which again is 5/5. The advertised wide viewing angle is completely justified here and from all angels of our room the image clarity is the same as looking straight on, zero degradation.
*Super thin: I felt a little bit apprehensive about handling the TV to get it mounted. The screen is so thin! the base of the unit where the speakers are is a little thicker. My advice, follow instructions on where to hold the TV as it really does help and will make sure you don't damage it by holding the wrong area. Looks great and really light compared to my other LED and LCD models in the house.
*C9 processor is snappy. The webOS interface is nice and quick. Again here, a significant upgrade compared to my Samsung LED model and Sony LED model. Apps load quickly with significantly less lag time than my Samsung TV (less than five years old).
*The integrated apps are limited, so we do use a Roku Ultra over the native interface because Roku has ALL of our apps (see my review on Roku Ultra).
*Native apps in webOS such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video will support Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos, which will give you the highest-quality audio and video.
*Sound: The built in speakers for this model are quite good. The bar has been lowered by the industry in general on flat and thin screen TV's and I was simply expecting to again consider a sound bar or center channel speaker to augment the TV sound, but I was pleasantly surprised here. Rich sound, nice bass to round out a well balanced frequency response for mid and high frequency.
You could do better by spending in the $2500 to $3000+ range, but the VALUE here is excellent at the price of less than $1,500.

I've had the LG OLED65C9PUA for about six months now. I bought it new. It was delivered to my home. It was well packaged. I unpacked it and mounted it on my wall. This model is heavy in my opinion and does require two people for lifting and mounting. I'm amazed at the thinness of the screen that has a glass covering (hence, the weightiness!). The glass covering at the edges, when view at an oblique angle, have a wavy pattern but in no way affects the picture when viewing at any angle. I only see the waviness when the TV is turned off.
Powering on was instantaneous. Obviously a very fast processor. The setup was and easy, automatic step-by-step process. The OLED replaced an LG 65UH9500 LED backlighted 4KHDTV, that in my opinion also has excellent picture quality and great features, with exception to the lack of light jetting and LED over lighting (or bleed) of large areas with dark background. With this OLED the blacks are black even with the brightest of whites. The contrast is exceptionally good! One difference between the TV's that I noticed right off, is that there is no 3D feature for this OLED and the magic remote has slightly different and useful button features. The picture quality out of the box is outstanding, In programming, I made a few minor adjustments to suit my taste. I have to say that the picture quality is the best that I have seen.
I use a DVR frequently for delayed playback of various events/titles. I often pause and leave a paused image on video, sometimes up to five minutes. Also, many newer 4K titles are in a different format size that leaves black bands at the top and bottom of the screen. I’ve had this panoramic format last for hours (up to around 3) while viewing. I also use the OLED for playing extended music from channels with fixed images. I have seen no evidence of burn-in or image retention. When using the OLED's Smart TV features such as Netflix or Prime Video, when leaving playback paused, the OLED automatically applies a screen saver. Respective to the screensaver there is one major annoyance, it has verbiage that tells the user that by pressing any button (except the power button) on the remote will restore normal video. This verbiage stays onscreen and moves around with the beautiful colorful firework imagery. There needs to be a user feature to clear this unnecessary verbiage. Also when an attached device is turned off, or is disconnected from the OLED, there is an option for graphics to display which are nice and pretty but again there is an ugly bar with verbiage.
Respective to the audio, it is good. I use a soundbar with rear speakers. The OLED's Dolby feature is much better than that of the LG 65UH9500 that it replaced!
Top reviews from other countries
the good.
It comes pre-color-calibrated (saves $300 on getting Bestbuy to do it)
It supports Nvidia Gsync
It has true blacks and vivid colors; perfect for HDR
Dolbly Vision and HLG and HDR10 support
Future HDMI version support
"AI Sound - auto adjusts sound"
Ambient light sensor - AI adaptive brightness
Proper True Black HDR certification
Blows away any LCD-based 2019 TV
StarScapes (star war space scenes, etc) are Mind blowingly well done.
Handles all content types, from games, sports, movies, and TV all very very well.
Very low input-latency, if you are into gaming
Cheaper than other OLED TV brands
Better near-black levels than the cheaper OLED models; uses dithering to avoid colour banding
the bad?
Speakers are B-rate: I had to enable the bass boost.
Remote Control has an annoying layout; I would prefer a better remote for sure.
WebOS is a mixed bag; I dislike it, but some people like it.
Brightness is lacking -- I have it setup to HDR Bright mode and would still prefer 30% more brightness for day use.
OLED burn in, while it may not be a real issue, it causes a lot of concern about leaving static images up on the TV for a lengthy time.
Maximum rate at 4K is 60fps or so? Would have preferred 120.
Mini-LED TV's of 2020 will be competitive, given how bright they will be and yet still contrasty
A bit costly and poorly marketed
Conclusion:
I would STRONGLY recommend this TV for movie viewing, assuming you have a room with controllable or dim lighting.
I would not recommend it if you intend to have static content on the screen for 12 hours at a time, due to burn in. If you want a very large TV or have a bright room, I would also say consider some LCD alternatives as they may offer better value in those cases.
I'll start off with the delivery experience. There was no booked appointment, just had to be available when shipping company would arrive with a heads up email a day prior. They helped me bring it up one flight of stairs and of course signature. Upon inspection of the packaging itself. there was one hole in the middle of the box but thankfully the display is covered with Styrofoam so it didnt break the actual TV.
Setup requires two people especially since the top half of the display is really thin and most of the handling is done on the bottom thicker half where all the components are housed.
Absolutely love how the display outputs rich colors and pure black in dark scenes in movies. In terms of making sure everything is up to date software wise was a bit tricky at first as the settings menu isn't as straight forward of where to locate update button. I would recommend getting the latest firmware as it takes advantage of the TV features for example: gaming, they recently allowed gsync compatibility so any pc gamers with a Nvidia GPU can have Smoother, Tear-Free experience.
The TV remote can act like a cursor or a wiimote navigating menus. The one surprise i wasnt expecting was being able to control my xbox dashboard and apps on said remote without having to grab an xbox controller. The TV remote won't however be able to turn off or on the console.
Overall best display quality for TV and movie experience. Gaming on it is excellent especially if you can take advantage of the refresh rate. So if you can find it at a discount price definitely purchase one.
Note: With both the LED and OLED technology's there is a chance for burn-in to occur. I haven't had my tv for very long and have not encountered this potential problem. If and/or when this potential problem arises, I'll revise this review and update it with the appropriate information.
It's now flashing white bars and won't turn on at points. Livid - I spent so much money on this and it didn't even last a full year and my dumb butt bought it used like new so I'm stuck
