Delta BreezSignature 130 CFM Exhaust Fan with Humidity Sensor

Rest easy with a bathroom fan that comes on automatically when it needs to. This virtually silent and energy efficient exhaust fan features humidity sensing functionality. An LED indicator light underneath the grille assures you that this quiet fan is running.

Engineered with DC brushless motor technology for extended reliability, this fan will outlast many household appliances. The fan is ENERGY STAR qualified for efficient cost-saving operation, and features a 3-year warranty.

CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute)

CFM is speed of 'air flow' - the amount of air extracted per minute when the fan is running. The amount of CFM needed is generally related to the size of area ventilated. More info on how to choose the right airflow at www.hvi.org/publications/HowMuchVent.cfm

Energy Savings

*Calculations based upon U.S. average retail electricity. Actual results may vary.

Sone Level is how loud the fan is to the human ear. Doubling the sone value means doubling the noise. The average 80 CFM bath fan runs at 0.8~2.5 sones. Delta Breez 80 CFM fans run as low as <0.3 sones. At less than 0.3 sones, the fan is virtually silent.

Why Choose Delta Breez?

Delta Breez offers high quality and top-performing bathroom ventilation fans of varying sizes, airflow levels, and features to fit any budget. Delta Breez fans are designed to control and reduce the moisture in your home to improve indoor air quality and decrease the risk of health problems. The Devil is in the Details
I was very excited when the fans arrived. They were well packed, looked like a good design. The fan body spun smoothly, and the fan shroud inside the body was smooth and had nice radiused edges. I was tempted to climb in the attic and install right away... Then the engineer in me decided to read the installation instructions. The installation instructions had a large WARNING section that had a list of things not to do. Most were expected, such as using gfci if installed over a tub/shower. However 2 items stood out :#7 - Do not install this ventilating fan where air temp may exceed 40C (104F)#13 - Not to be installed in a ceiling thermally insulated to a value greater than R40So I called the manufacturer. Got a recording, but the nice lady on the recording did return my call the next day and I talked to a live person...I live in NC, where last summer we had a week of 107F temps, which means that my attic temp was probably greater than 140F. The customer service rep confirmed that the 104F temp in the manual was attic temp and not house temp. It is very easy for your attic to exceed 104F. The customer service rep said that they had tested to temps much higher than 104F. However as a responsible homeowner, I must go by what the product literature clearly says is a fire hazard.Next, It says don't install if insulation is greater than R40. The government recommendations for energy efficiency in my area is to insulate the attic to a level of R49. Adding insulation to the attic is one of the best things you can do to lower heating/cooling bills. So I've already done this. Those are just the fire hazard issues. If you live in the north, you will likely exceed the R40 insulation limit, and if you live in the south, you will surely exceed the 104F attic temperature limit. I live in NC, which puts me on the borderline and I get both issues. Now onto the installation issues.I explained to the rep, that I bought this fan as an upgrade, and my original fan was mounted directly to the ceiling joist, and since the delta fan has a 1" flange around its opening, I don't see how I can mount it to the joist without modifying it. At this point, the rep politely said that this fan probably won't work for me. So we ended the conversation. The fan does come with hangar brackets for easy mounting. However you can't get the fan flush with the ceiling joist unless you modify the fan body, so it can become more work than expected if you are purchasing this fan as an upgrade/replacement. I expected to have to enlarge the hole in the ceiling, but I did not expect to have to patch drywall. My last gripe is that the default mode for the fan is humidity sensing mode. You have to cycle it to for normal full speed operation. This seems backwards. I'd prefer not to have to explain how the bathroom fan works to guests. However this was really just icing on the cake. I could have easily lived with this issue, if it were not for the bigger issues.Unfortunately, I never even got to install the fan. They are being returned to amazon. I'm forced to give it a bad review because it clearly says that it would be a fire hazard because of attic temps as well as insulation. Also as others mentioned, the installation instructions are borderline useless, aside from the WARNING section...

Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2018
The humidity from the shower was starting to crack the paint. That's why I had this installed. It works very well. Gets rid of all of the humidity in the bathroom after taking a shower. Not really loud. You don't have to worry about somebody forgetting to turn it off like conventional exhaust fans since it has a motion sensor and humidistat and shuts off automatically. It's also very helpful when somebody is taking a dump. It sucks out a lot of that toxic stink. If you're married, this is VERY helpful! I can leave my eyeglasses on the counter and when I get out of the shower, they are not all fogged up like before. My mirrors are nowhere near as fogged up the way they were before. Expensive but worth it. Amazon sent one of their guys over and did a fantastic job. When he got here, I did not have any working exhaust fans. He installed one in each bathroom. If I had to do it all over, I wouldn't change anything. Don't buy the cheap ones. You'll only be miserable with the loud noise. At least the paint in my bathroom will last longer.
