Protected by the Cowboy, Mani Blake's 4th book in the Blackwater Ranch series. They are all amazing books, but I have to say that this was my favorite so far! The only problem is that I now have to wait until book 5 is published!!! This is Micah's story. Micah finds Laney stranded on the road in front of the ranch in her car. She is bruised both inside and out. She has had a lifetime of sorrow, neglect, and no love known. Can Micah help her out? Will he hire her?

Micah is the quiet, gruff ranch manager, and eldest son who takes his job way too seriously and doesn't know how to have fun or live life. Can Laney help him figure out the proper work/life balance? Laney is welcomed into the amazing Harding family like everyone else is. But will her past haunt her and ruin any chances of a better life?

I loved seeing Laney's journey of faith in this book. That was the icing on the cake! Excellent, excellent read! I can't recommend this book enough! But read them in order and it will make more sense!

Sweet story + great characters = win! I really enjoyed reading this book. I felt like I could relate better to the hero, but there were a lot of relatable qualities in the heroine, too. Reading about the growth from friendship to true love between them was enjoyable, as was the faith element. I could certainly relate to the heroine's salvation experience, too, so that was pretty awesome.
If you enjoy sweet, inspirational romance, seasoned with a bit of tension, then you don't want to miss this story.

A good story. Micah, & Laney especially, pulled me in—anger for Laney, being used and abused by Devin. Micah’s protective instinct is impressive; however, telling us about that protectiveness was a little bit overdone.

Micah finally found someone who needed & appreciated his serious & protective spirit. Laney needed to be enfolded in the Harding family but especially with Micah. Their faith obviously influenced her to be open to the good news of Jesus; may all our families inspire that seeking spirit in others as the Hardings do.

If you like connections between books, you’ll enjoy finding out more about Noah & Camille. (I just went back and reread part of their story😁.)

Another positive: The cover model actually looks like a cowboy. Woohoo!😁

My only negative is that the plot line is so very similar to another book I’ve read in the past year or so. I kept asking myself as I was reading, have I read this before? I know the answer has to be no, since I received an ARC. I have yet to figure out what other book it reminds me of. It may have been on KU instead of my personal Kindle library.

4 stars is my honest rating for the sweet, Christian romance genre.

Wow! Those Harding’s keep getting better and better. Micah is the oldest and is the ranch foreman and Laney is on the run from trouble when she runs out of gas right outside the ranch. She gets a job and the Hardings do what they do best, surround her with love and protection, especially Micah who realizes the ranch doesn’t have to be at the very top of his priorities anymore. The feeling of this family is like a fuzzy blanket warm from the dryer, always looking out for each other and loving and supporting those who come into their midst. Christian themes and clean and wholesome.
